Could be a challenge run, 'Fallout 3 but every dialogue ends with shooting a Fat Man'. You get infinite ammo for it but it can only be used in this way. Maybe some exceptions like holding fire for potential followers, that's up to the runner. You have to pick your conversations very carefully because you won't get more than one in the same area very quickly, but there's some advantage in being able to strategically vaporize any killable NPC you can have a conversation with, but no one-liners allowed, there must be at least one dialogue choice.
This reminds of when, in New Vegas, I did the hidden valley questline AFTER doing Arcade Ganon's questline where you learn how to use power armour by the remnants. When the elder, whether its McNamara or Hardin offers you power armour training and you say "oh, I'm already trained" they get really suspicious about who you learned it from.
McNamara doesn't really get suspicious, per se. He just goes "Huh, weird you know how already. Oh well, someone like you probably picks up all kinds of weird skills."
Hardin's basically like "Somebody taught you to use power armor? I should probably torture you to extract the information on who, then go brutally murder them... but instead I'm just gonna overlook it. Welcome to the Brotherhood."
I once did something incredibly stupid in one play through I had taken off the Remnants Power Armor while going to Hidden Valley and without thinking put in back on while inside they immediately became hostile and my standing with the BoS dropped from Friendly to Villafied even after I took off the Armor they were still hostile

He also can surmise main base didn't figure it out, since they probably would've radio'd ahead that they were sending someone along to fix all his problems.

No thats not at all true. They didnt "rip" anything. Fallout 3 does NOT have a disguise mechanic. Just conditions for dialog to react if pc is wearing certain armor. Obsidian had to create the disguise mechanic from the on account of the reputation system. Typical braindead comment from a bethesda fan.@@Leboobs22

I didn’t know you can actually wear the outcast armor but that dialogue only happens if you are already trained wearing the power armor with elder lions before going into the outcast outpost
I'm pretty sure one of the outcasts takes your power armor. I forget where-- Arlington, maybe? Either way, they go down in my playthrough. Ain't nobody taking my sh** and getting away with it.
At Fort Independence, leader of Bos outcast will take your PA if you have one in your inventory. He also says that he quess that you just found it somewhere lying in wasteland
At first I was amazed that you can do this, I never tried it while playing Fallout 3. And then [INTELLIGENCE] option appeared, reminding me of classic Bethesda....protagonist needs an intelligence check to draw a conclusion worthy of lobotomized toddler. McGraw practically spelled it out for us.

This is the part of the BoS that doesn't like recruiting outsiders, you have to be born into it. So I imagine a lot of them are pretty young.
And a decent amount of soldiers in war zones are usually 18-24 in modern armies and 20-30 for higher ranking enlisted
