Wow, this ride had so much heart put into it! I love the diversity of the scenes, and it doesn't seem to be nearly as frustrating as Buzz Light-year's Space Ranger Spin.
I love this ride to death! The California versions of this ride and Pooh's Adventure feel like they were made with 1/20th of the budget the Tokyo rides had.
Does Boo call Sully "Nyan Nyan" instead of "Kitty" in the Japanese version of Monsters Inc.? That's kinda cool... and makes me think of a cat with a poptart body!
Christopher Russell---I don't know what you're talking about. Randall isn't killed on the ride. He is seriously maimed, but he's not dead from the looks of his eyes moving round in circles. Disney isn't that heartless. Typically! LOL
@WaterSlideDatabase It's actually a process invented by Universal called "squenching", which was made as a solution to make 3D look good from a moving point of view.
This is gonna ruin the magic, but heck. They used none other than... mirrors! Yes, clean and perfectly aligned mirrors. Simple, practical, and works very well. What you're seeing is actually a mirror image of the surrounding walls.
Tokyo DL's attractions are designed and built by the same people in the U.S.. It's just that Tokyo DL's management is willing to spend more money than the other Disney parks. (Disney has less managerial control over Tokyo DL than it does with the other parks. The Oriental Land Company manages Tokyo DL.) ..... I'm sure Japan has plenty of very able ride designers, though.
A friend of mine who's been on both says there's no contest between the one in Tokyo and the one @ CA Adventure. Tokyo's is way more elaborate (though, my still enjoys the one in CA, too). Have you seen video of Tokyo's "Pooh" ride? It, too, eclipses the one @ Disneyland.
I just came from Tokyo Disneyland. Much better than the CA Adventure one, but you "pay" the price. 5-10 min. wait at DCA, 100 minute wait at TDL (on June 22). I didn't think the flashlights were all that great. I prefer Buzz Lightyear and Toy Story Mania for their interactiveness. A cast member pointed out a hidden Mickey. In the queue area there's a map of the world. The continents are all covered in doors. In Africa, there's a red door, about where Kenya and Tanzania are. The doorknob is a hidden Mickey.
It REALLY offends me to see Randall Boggs killed in the ride. He's not all-evil, people! I don't care what anybody says on the matter! It's wrong to do that in the ride... I guess Randall isn't very popular in Japan. Just that alone would keep me from riding this ride, because I don't like that. I'm a 'Monsters' fan who will ALWAYS believe that Randall is good at heart, and redeemable.
Christopher Russell WOW, is this how bad our society hasn't gotten? That somebody gets offended by a FICTIONAL character being humorously pummeled by a factory line and will refuse to ride SOLELY because of that? Damn, if that's what sets a person off, then society is even more screwed than we thought.
Visit the Boggs' Board online forum... I am not the only one that's offended here. Our moderator, Pitbulllady, supports the case for Randall's innocence with a passion. In fact, she is the one that told me about the incident in the first place... which lead me to look it up on TH-cam. Another user on the site said he found Mike and Sulley's banishment of Randall 'sickenening'. Primarily because Mike and Sulley were making light of the whole thing, like they were at some party. This user found it so disturbing, in fact, he compared the situation with 'The Green Mile'. and he declared point-blank that he would never watch the ending of Monsters, Inc. again. Pretty harsh. I'm sorry, but you can't blame society for everything.
Christopher Russell A forum? A forum?!? Are you kidding me? You dedicated an entire forum to this ridiculous "cause?" Jesus Christ, you guys are pathetic.
Seems like you don't really get to enjoy the ride, seeing as how you've got to look around & hit things with your flashlight for stuff to happen. I also feel like there are a bunch of times when some kid's gonna shine the light right into your eyes!

They need to change California's Monster's Inc. ride to that.

Typically! LOL
Boo was saying 'nya nya' ! so cute !

@WaterSlideDatabase It's actually a process invented by Universal called "squenching", which was made as a solution to make 3D look good from a moving point of view.
maiku wa daisuki. so cute :D
This looks awesome
omg... the door illusion is SO COOL.
Thats the disney i know and love. not this hannah montanna -laugh track nonsense.
What a cute ride.
so essentially, it's like those boardwalk shooting galleries, just in the dark on rails? I can dig that!
I wish this was in Florida!!
wow!! I need 2 go back to japan
fun ride
Distortion in the image is synced with the position of the vehicle.
This is gonna ruin the magic, but heck. They used none other than... mirrors! Yes, clean and perfectly aligned mirrors. Simple, practical, and works very well. What you're seeing is actually a mirror image of the surrounding walls.
I get that but how did they make boo's room all 3d? how did they make it soo realistic?

This would be fun to have in california instead of the one we already have
Omg I want to go on that ride right now it's so cute
Mindblown!!!
its like Men In Black here in florida but with flashlights

They have fun flashlight adventures?
They need to replace the god awful monsters inc laugh floor with this at wdw.
So much going on o.O
kind of reminds me of the men in black ride at universal
door illusion is at 3:36
@gameplayer951 I was phrasing the same question!!!
@WaterSlideDatabase ya how did they do that?!
They need to replace the Monsters Inc Ride, and the Winnie the pooh Ride, with Japans versions. >:/
@gameplayer951
If you're looking very carefully, you will see a mirror right before you look into the door.
*hint* look at the wall :P
Where is this Disney world orlando!?
what door illusin?i would so go on this ride
does ur site have behind the scenes video for people like me so i can see how the magic happens

Seriously dude? It's a ride don't take it to heart.

"Sickening".... sorry for the typo.
Christopher Russell A forum? A forum?!? Are you kidding me? You dedicated an entire forum to this ridiculous "cause?" Jesus Christ, you guys are pathetic.
2:18 theres nemo on the lower left hand side of the window, see it?
I kno where im going next
no just every ride in orlando speaks japanese.
Seems like you don't really get to enjoy the ride, seeing as how you've got to look around & hit things with your flashlight for stuff to happen. I also feel like there are a bunch of times when some kid's gonna shine the light right into your eyes!
Seems to be the Japanese always take it a step farther then Americans do and make it 10x better
@lightningtap347 because they are jealous that Tokyo has it?
Mike sounds like spongebob
The animatronics are way better on this ride in comparason to the DCA version.
How do the do it?
Flashlights? Really? I liked the Buzz attraction better.
how did they do it
That's because they stole that technique from Universal.
