- In this video, I took down my 10" large android screen and reinstalled my OEM screen on my 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300 in order to show you the new module from DMP car design that will add Apply CarPlay and Android Auto to the OEM stock screen. Great option for people who don't want the large Android screen.

Just a update for people who have bought the DMP module recently and received the new model..
it’s almost the same thing as this unit, just less connections. And you don’t need to run a wire into your arm console.
The new unit uses Bluetooth to run the sound to your car, so the 3.5mm that’s on it gets plugged into the mic input in the module.
Then you enter your cars "connect your cars Bluetooth" connection to the “DC audio BT” Bluetooth, once connected you can go to the media>bluetooth connection, and while there press and hold the end call button on your steering wheel which will take you to the CarPlay screen and you can connect your phone to CarPlay from there. Also, me and my friend ran into an issue where our speakers didn’t work after everything was set up. We had to pull the multimedia fuse from the passenger side panel out for a bit then everything worked perfect..

That’s why I bought the w205 last year. I knew soon people will start upgrading cause the w205 won’t depreciation that hard anymore and it will be affordable. But glad you jumped on board. W205 are night and day. Especially the interior.

it's a pretty sweet mod if you don't plan on ripping out your OEM screen. Also, it runs off the data from your phone whereas most of the features on the 10" android screen requires a live internet connection. However the android screen is touchscreen which is nice.
I enjoy your work, I have the same model car so it’s nice seeing the possible upgrades. As soon as you start removing consoles and paneling, that’s when I go “Oh Lord, let me head on out“😂😂

I did a few that you suggested like the blue lights and carbon mirror caps and it turned out okay ...but I don’t want to push my luck. Keeps the videos coming.

This is a great guide. I had this system fitted to my car and was racking my brains as to why I couldn’t get any sound! Turns out the media setting was incorrect and wasn’t on USB/ Aux!! Thanks

The new unit utilizes Bluetooth to transmit audio to your car, hence the 3.5mm jack on it needs to be connected to the microphone input on the module.

I installed an aftermarket front view camera. Is it possible to trigger the camera view with this module?

Hi, I have a couple of questions about this unit:
- What is that audio to USB cable for? Not sure what audio it is referring to.
- Can you listen to the radio from the MB system and at the same time have Google maps on the screen? I don't understand if you either need to use just one of the systems (i.e. just use GMaps with YT music only - both in Carplay, or you can listen to radio from the MB original system and also have GMaps on the screen from Carplay) at a time or you can combine them.

That’s how you get audio from the module into your oem speaker system. It’s kinda like an AUX.
Not 100% sure but i believe when you are in the CarPlay or android auto system…you are confined to those systems. Because the audio switches from OEM audio to the module audio (that’s plugs into the usb) when you access CarPlay/android auto.
Does this come with a wired Carplay option or is it strictly wireless Carplay?

Great tutorial. I will probably go for this on my w205. In my COMAND (8.4"), I do not see USB Aux as a media option. Does the USB interface that comes with this kit enable that on the COMAND interface? Or did you already have USB AUX in your COMAND options?

Great tutorial. Just wanted to ask how you installed the aux cable from under the console into the center box? Tucking it under and screwing it back down will surely crush/damage the cable in due time.
You better drill a hole or a v notch and pass the cable through it!

Hi Flex, any updates on this?? Also My c63s 2015 has ambient lightning but its very dim. I put the max brightness and its still dim compared to newer models. Any idea what this could be??
My module turns my display off and the lights on my cars center module where the AC and multimedia lights right whenever I try to switch it to the module screen when holding the back button. After bunch of tries of holding back button I finally get my stock screen back but if I hold the back button to switch to the CarPlay screen it turns off my screen and the lights on my center module. Any clue what’s happening?

Hey, i just purchased this and got it installed today. Was quite a pain in the butt because they updated the module from how it looks in your video and they didn't ship me a manual. Do you find the quality of the apple car play to be a bit lower compared to the original Mercedes? I think it's like 720p quality but I can't figure out how to make it look crisper. Hows the Bluetooth phone calling sound, as I have noticed with the Android screen or the older external attachment modules to the car for apple car play when using Bluetooth phone calling it echos alot, so the other end can barely hear me sometimes.

Everything works like stock. Camera turns on.

Isn’t the OEM screen on your vehicle the 7 inch display? Only the COMAND Navigation screen is 8.4 inches. Either way, cool mod to add CarPlay to the car
Probably. All I know is when I did the switches to match the 7” screen guidance...the module interface viewing area didn’t fit. The 8” screen guidance for the switches made the module interface fit the display properly.

Yes. Go to the DMP link and scroll down. You’ll see tons of apps supported by CarPlay.

When you're connecting the blue connection (display) to the OEM radio display input, where do you connect the other side of the cable? It's a female USB.
There are no cables in the box that end with an AUX connection, except for the mic.

Not sure what you are referencing. Everything in my video is clear for the kit I got. If you are missing something or it’s different, you have to reach out to your reseller for support. If you bought from DMP, they will be more than glad to help you.

Not sure. I don’t have 360 camera. But I can only assume it works 100% just like my screen switches to my oem backup camera when i stick the car into reverse. It has nothing to do with the CarPlay system. Only DMP car design can confirm. You will need to reach out to them.
Does the reverse camera still appear when you put the car in R or do you need to exit this menu and go to the original one?
Automatically. Just have to make sure your settings are correct so it does it auto.

when you are in the carplay interface...you don't have access to your OEM radio signals or Sirius Radio. You only have access to music playing apps on the carplay interface. So if you are listening to pandora or spotify, yes, they will play while you are using a nav app on Carplay.

I successfully installed the carplay system, however Im not lucky with the sound. I have the usb/aux option in media center, but when I select it, it shows me first: activating device, please wait and after that media interface unavailable. Any idea what can be wrong? :(
I was also thinking to plug the audio cable directly to that oem radio, since I find out that I have cinche AUX conector in back of that radio
@@michaelstrecha54 it will not work, you need to connect to the Aux and select the device audio through device settings, aux

Rule of thumb: Everything I show in my videos are always what’s included. I wouldn’t show them if they weren’t. Unless I specially say it’s not.

Do you have to hold "Back" button every time you start a car to get to Apple Screen?
No. That’s only if I don’t set CarPlay to auto connect.
If I have auto connect setup on the module and my phone has Bluetooth turned on…when I walk into the car…CarPlay auto connects to my phone. I will only need to hold the back button if I wanna go back to my oem interface.
is there any issue with the module that its hidden there under the radio ? i mean if it will be any issue like over heating ? fire risk ?

So my kit just arrived everything looks good except it came with a mic. Where is the best place to run it to. I noticed yours didn’t have this. Also do I need the mic or does it run off the factory mic?
You need to install the mic and I suggest behind the screen or otherwise inside the middle box near the aux cable. Don't put it inside with the module as it won't listen well too your voice commands or phone calls.
Hey Flexx another follower asked you this already but I was reading the notes when You go to the dmpcardesign webside , and this is what I found:
1.Works with wireless Apple CarPlay, pairing via Bluetooth, transfer via WIFI.
2.Work with Wired CarPlay also,turn off wifi at first, connect via lighting cable(wired keep your phone charged at the same time)
In the kit it doesn't show the usb cable , do you know anything about that.. really appreciated your answer....
Hi Flexx, thank you so much for this video. I had this unit professionally installed today and everything works except now there is no sound in any of the apps when im in Apple carplay, nor when im back on the Mercedes interface. (I.e. no sound from the stock radio or anything that makes sound)

Sounds like a setting is not properly set cause the system probably went back into its defaults state. You would need whoever sold you the kit for support since not all kits are the same.

When in CarPlay, what happens with climate control? Does the bottom bar show up when you change temperature?
If you have the latest model from dmp it now shows the climate control settings
How is it when you want to fx play music through CarPlay? Like fx I own a Peugeot 308 from 2016 now, and added CarPlay for it later on. The way it works, is that CarPlay boots up easy every time I start the car, but if I want to play music, I first have to switch the cars audio output to Bluetooth, then go into CarPlay, open Apple Music and play something, for then to open my iPhone to also select Bluetooth as the output on that for music sound to come through CarPlay.
Is it the same story with this Mercedes CarPlay, or is it different? Hope that made sense..
It’s different. The CarPlay module has a setting to automatically control the switching of audio source.
Let’s say I get into my car and my screen is on the oem interface. I can hear music from radio and stuff. If I hold down a button to access CarPlay, screen will auto go into the CarPlay, the audio source will auto switch to aux, and I can get music playing automatically by selecting music from my phone or the CarPlay interface. (As long as Bluetooth/WiFi is turned on on my phone and I already went through pairing it for the first time)
I can also program my CarPlay to automatically connect to my phone as soon as I enter the car. So if bluetooth/WiFi is turn on my phone…as soon as I start the car…CarPlay interface is on and I can start using it and listing to music. No crazy fumbling to switch audio source or connect or anything. It’s quite good. Once you manual pair it for the 1st time, you can set it to auto connect.
can you access the rear camera from that screen too
Works like stock. You stick the car in reverse, the screen goes to the reverse camera. Once you put it back in drive, the screen goes back to the CarPlay.
