Congress has no problem bailing out banks, the auto industry and the airlines when they themselves mess up. Now the middle class here in WNC needs a bailout from a natural disaster.
Asheville has no problem spending money on green ways all that clear had poor designs but won't spend money to get brush and debris out of river to avoid water backing up and causing worse flooding.. Asheville/buncombe county cleanup the rivers and reopen the Bee tree and North Fork to public use like lake James Lake Hickory Lake Norman are all water sheds and all is open to the public
I see a lot of money pledged already but no real cleanup has started other than private owners and corporations pecking at their debris. What about shipping containers slammed up against bridge columns in the water etc? Would think that is a structural risk to be left for months. I suspect this money will remain tied up and eventually squandered
I hope Asheville /Buncombe county spends money wisely...and uses some to clear debris and stringers out of river and to build all asscess Greenway for all who love the rivers.. hope they reopen the bee tree and North Fork water sheds. Lake James, lake Hickory,And Lake Norman are all water sheds and yet they are open to public use ..
Lawmakers are a joke... They need Sawmills portable sawmills to rebuild instead of burning veneer Wood... If you got a portable sawmill bring it.. And to get an expedited get with the Amish crew.. get the materials to those men

Seven weeks later they get around to showing support to the people they represent. Pitiful. Glad people didn't wait for them to help. God bless them.
