To save even more space, you can take things like the waffles out of the boxes, and just put the packages in the freezer. (you can write the expiration date on the bag if you're worried about them going bad. You should be able to tell what kind of waffles are what without the boxes. :)

It is probably too late for this time but fruit and vegetables pretty much last forever in the freezer. The only reason they have a best buy date is that they get freezer-burned over time and they take on the taste of freezer. So especially if you cook them it will normally be fine to eat them. Most things don't really go bad when frozen in the sense that they become hazardous to eat they just lose in taste and texture. I would only be careful with meat or dairy or when things were partially thawed.
This is why you should never store meat in your freezer door. The temperature is less stable there and that can lead to meat thawing on the surface and going bad faster. I would put things like icepacks or ice cubes in there, where it isn't important that the temperature stays constant and things you use frequently.

Yaay! Clean freezer! I just have 2 tips.
    1. Think VERTICAL.Try thinking "vertical" for storing everything. For organizing fridge or freezer...., or for those papers on top of the cabinet, or whatever you store in the bins, please give it a try.("Trrrry"... like how you try the Konmari method) You'll be amazed how much more space it gives, and how easily you can see everything at a glance. I use bookends, even in the freezer to keep things vertically sotred, so I can see everything at a glance. It's hard to explain with words, but once you are consicous of "vertical", things will instantly look more organized!
2.Make a flow system. Slide existing items front, and stock from back, for rows of items stored front to back.Slide existing items to the left and stock from the right, for row of items left to right. For new bought foods for fridge, if I have rows of same items, I stock from the back. For freezer, I do rows sideways, so I slide things to the left, and stock from the right. I use this system for putting away things like clean towels or underwears, too. That way, nothing gets forgotten and every item gets used. For this system, vertical storing becomes a key, or else things gets shoved to the back or buried on the bottom.
It might not come natural at first, but I hope just being aware of things like that help you to easier cleaning, and to a happier living!

I always find half eaten popsicle's and glow sticks in my freezer!! When we buy waffles and toaster strudels I always take them out of the boxes. The boxes just take up to much space. Waffles I can usually tell which ones they are just buy looking but the toaster strudels I mark the package.

I am single so your freezer setup will be different. Just wanted help you think of another way other than a shelf.
About a month ago I decided to organize my freezer. I don't have shelves either. So, I placed 2 of my LARGE plastic rectangular storage containers inside, one on each side with a space in the middle. I store frozen fruit in one and frozen vegetables in the other.
I put larger things such as meat, dinners, etc in the center area slightly away from back wall.➡ I do this to leave space at back so condenser vents can work properly. In the past my ice grew into the space between the freezer and the fridge. Then water began to pool in back of the fridge. This was partly because I filled the freezer too much towards the back, which blocked the condenser.
. I store 1 pizza upright at right side. My fridge opens on left side.

I grew up always having 3 freezers- 2 full standing ones in the basement or garage, depending on the house at the time, and one attached to the fridge in the kitchen. Space-saving freezer organization is by no means in my blood. What I can tell you, though, is that storing things by date is the single most important thing. This is true for any consumable with an expiration date.
Organize like with like, absolutely, this way you can find the type of thing you're looking for- meats with meats, veggies with veggies, desserts with desserts/snacks, breakfast with breakfast- but once you have basic categories, what's the first thing you should be grabbing? The oldest/soonest to go out of date. But what's the thing you're going to grab? The thing on the top/in the front, the easiest one to grab. So go out of your way to put your newest things in the bottom/back, behind the things you need to be using up first, when you get home from grocery shopping. Takes a little longer but has much better payoff, becomes second nature after a while. ***Please teach your kids to do this too!*** Have them help you put groceries away and explain to them "We put the newest things at the back so we can use up the old stuff before it goes bad, that way we don't waste anything!"

You can order a shelf for the freezer from the manufacturer. Those divots in the sides are what support it. And plastic storage bins, one for veggies and fruit one for meats that hold them upright and slide in and out like drawers. Put items in order oldest to the front, newest to the back, I find if I organize a system that works well, a little effort up front keeps it organized. Good job.

Maybe you could put the ice packs into a large ziploc bag so they don't get lost in the freezer or fall out. Then I would put the ice tray on the bottom right side since it's a smaller space and maybe the ice packs could go next to it so all the ice will be in one spot. Great job organizing!!

Nothing like a good cleanout in the fridge or freezer! when I would clean houses for people if they asked me to go into the fridge I would always ask to look at their expiration dates or just something that looks like it hadn't been closed properly or just plain rotten and dispose of it. something I learned with boxed things that take up space in the cabinets or boxes in the freezer is that you can cut out the directions for cooking time or preparing and get rid of the whole box and just put it close pinned to the plastic bag that's inside of the cardboard boxes to save room

Hey, Sweets! Hate to tell you, You're not done with the fridge quite yet... I used to work for American Frozen Foods and cleaning fridge & freezers was part of the sales pitch...😰 needless to say, yes you can have mold in/on your fridge everywhere. Suggestions:
      1. Use clean coolers or grocery freezer bags/boxes to put the food you want kept IN while working on freezer. (Also good idea when doing the fridge too)
      2. Use heavy duty garbage bags to put old food straight into.
      3. Make a solution of baking soda, white vinegar and warm water into a spray bottle. Spray all over inside - let it sit while cleaning the outside.
      4. Spray & Clean deep into the door seals and wipe clean (with paper towels) black mold grows here. Make sure plastic seals are still flexible and not hard. If these seals are moldy (not coming clean), cracked or missing, it's like leaving the door open 24/7. Call company to replace parts or do yourself. If ok, apply a thin coat of Vasaline, rub in & wipe off excess. Do NOT reuse this cloth and use again to wipe other areas. Don't spread the mold germs!
      5. Now, spray and wipe (top-down) the top, outsides, door front & door frame, where seals meet door and handles with this solution.
      6. Then, wipe down the inside freezer.
      7. Once done, use a clean, micro cloth and warm water from tap (wrung out) for last all over rinse, starting with the freezer box inside, then wiping all the outside one last time before loading.
      8. YES, get hubby to pull out the fridge and YOU MUST VACUUM THE COILS - gently using the brush applicator - while the fridge is unplugged! At least 2x year - I schedule this around when we reset clocks as a reminder. Otherwise, dust just makes the motor work harder and burns out faster.
      9. Plastic sturdy bins can also hold veggie bags, ice packs, etc.
      10. You are doing a TERRIFIC JOB 🦄💜🏆!!! 🎉🎆Whoo Hoo!

When I first moved to the city I live in now, I stayed in a couple of rooming houses, and people would leave all sorts of stuff in the freezer. At the first place, the mixed vegs were definitely dried out but I ate them anyways. The really old lamb chops were inedible. I did try, though.
The second place I rented a room in had a freezer full of stuff people had just left behind - there was very little room for anything else (we had a basement chest freezer as back up, though some of what was in it was pretty old, too). Some of the ice cream in the freezer was probably more than 2 years old (based on the best before date of the ice cream cones I found elsewhere) and it was basically dehydrated. The ice cream sandwiches were still good, though.

Having a small freezer makes it a lot harder for foods to sit too long. I want a bigger freezer, but I know I'll end up with really old forgotten food.
And remember "best if used by" means taste & texture will start to go downhill after that date, not expired. Theres 3? different systems & they all mean different things. Expiration date, best by & sell by? Best by & sell by are suggested dates for freshness, not safety. Expiration date is it's not safe after a set date. So meat from the butcher may have a sell by date, canned veg has a use by date & deli chicken salad has an expiration date.
Unless meat looks freezer burned, I don't toss it. I've got half a beef tenderloin from last xmas that we really need to finish using up. Life happened, nuff said.
I occasionally dig into the freezer & look for the oldest meats & specifically plan around that item. Right now oldest is the tenderloin. (Yes I just went & double checked.) Next oldest are meats from april. And I only have 1 chicken breast & 1 chopped up breast which stresses me out. Need more chicken breasts lol.
So right now I'm considering what to do with frozen remains of a rotisserie chicken, a seasoned pork loin & a flank steak. Next week will likely be insane so no time for fancy meals. Crockpot ginger peach chicken with my 1 breast & rotisserie remains? Leftover night will be a thing, I've got a serving of baked spaghetti from Feb left. Frozen impossible pie for those who don't like baked spaghetti. Maybe hamburger soup & do leftovers of that too...leaving the flank steak & pork loin for a non crazy week. Theres 4+ nights of food & other than maybe more potatoes I don't even need to buy veg or sides. (This is subject to change since next weeks plans are uncertain for what happens when. I may just do frozen fish sticks, fries & peas while unhealthy is super easy. Or if the Tues event happens on or before Tues, I can do the pork loin on thurs & cut leftover night.)
Your freezer wasn't bad. Perhaps date when you open boxes/bags so you have an idea of the age like you do in the fridge.

My freezer is like yours but even more packed. There's no shelving in it, either, so I need to buy a shelf to put inside.

I was worried your ice cream was going to melt

That particular type of ice cream doesn't really melt much - it has a lot of filler in it.

As long as it has not been defrosted, I easily would eat meat that is 2years old. If it happens again, maybe you can donate it to a dog owner that can make pet food of it?
Also, this reminds me that I have not done the yearly defrosting and cleaning of my freezer. X)

Oh wow, I didn’t know you could?!! I get overly cautious bc one time I got food poisoning and it was awful. That triggered my anxiety to never eat meat over 6 months frozen. I’m hoping to be more organized with my meal planning so I don’t have to worry about it again...but you know, life sneaks up on us! Thank you for sharing that with me 🙏🏻💞
