I'm autistic, and I love Mega Man. He's just like me. I like blue, and i have to use my superior intellect and technological prowess to defeat much larger enemies. The largest of one such enemy is my sister's boyfriend Jacob. Just as Mega Man leaps over obstacles to avoid damage, I leap over the squeaky floorboards in my house when Jacob is around. The gravity reversal reminds me of how Jacob has turned my life upside down. But then i wonder, what If like mega man I also turned myself upside down. What if I was like my sister, and therefore my enemy Jacob would now be my boyfriend. Then i would have a large ally who could help me defeat all of my other enemies. Thanks for this review. Everyday i search on TH-cam for Mega Man videos and there aren't enough to keep me occupied. Please make more mega man videos about mega man.
Great video! The last three MM titles on the NES are SO overlooked in favor of the nostalgia bias for MM2; which, when you take an honest look at it, is far from ideal and PACKED with bugs, broken ends/soft locks, glitches, etc. Is it FUN? YES, and that's all that matters! However, people ignoring 4-6 like they didn't objectively improve the gameplay mechanics is hilarious. I'd argue MM4 is actually the peak of the series on the NES! Keep up the great work!

Mega Man 5 only has one problem. That's having number 5 in the title. Fatigue is a thing with NES entries both in past and present. By the time MM5 released SNES and Genesis were in full swing and general publications didn't care much for NES games. As for present there are those that when replaying NES games play them in order and after 4 Mega Men usually have had their fill of Mega Man by the time 5 and 6 roll around. That said I can't say any Mega Man on NES is outright bad, they all range from good to great, however for me personally at the moment 5 is my 2nd least favorite NES Mega Man. A comment I saw in a random video suggested once that opinions might flip if they are played in reverse order so I might try it out some day.
I grew up with this game back in the early 90s. I loved it over some earlier entries because it felt like megaman was overpowered blasting everything with the buster shot. It was fun. I found it so strange years after the internet hated it for the same reason

In my opinion, Mega Man 5's only glaring sin is that it was very similar to Mega Man 4. However, since enough time has passed, the order of when the games came out doesn't matter as much, so people can now acknowledge the game for what it actually is.
4 Megs actually means megabits, which has commonly been the semiconductor industry unit for storage at the time. The ROM size in bytes is 512K, split between 256K on the PRG chip and 256K on the CHR chip.

Man the Charge Kick is at least fresh and unique but my god that Power Stone lmao. It's so bad you just wonder why someone during development wasn't like "I know we are crunching hard but this genuinely might as well not be in the game". The music in MM5 is dope as well too. Love Stone Man's theme and the difficulty ramps a bit towards the end and if you don't know the Rush Jet trick for Crystal Man's stage, those pipe sections and the RNG can be a nightmare. Great review! Honestly the only classic game I've grown to dislike despite having some awesome robot masters was Mega Man 4.
Despite the terrible weapon selection, This is my second favorite classic Mega Man game, right behind 7. I also like 2, but I just like 5's controls and level design, as I think there's no real stinkers in terms of bosses and stages. But this could be due to the fact that this game isn't too hard.
the Stage themes of MM5 were the best. Star Man being in low gravity, Gravity man reversing gravity, Charge Man being on a train, Stone being in a Mountain, etc yes the weapons were bad. At least Top Spin did SO MUCH DAMAGE. Power Stone is so *bad*, Napalm is so slow, Star is a shield, Charge I felt was a great idea (but most seem to not like it). BUT at the same time BEAT was such a great reward. And Gravity was so cool. Also ProtoCastle (aka DarkMan Castle) theme is a masterpiece of a NES song. And I agree DarkMan Castle theme is just as good as Wily Castle 1 from MM2. Also the plot was fine for the time.

It's one of the easiest Mega man game and they made some weird decisions for that one, but, idk, I haven't heard anyone saying that it was straight up bad, at worst it's an alright game. Personally I like it, I would replay it over some others in the classic series And, hey, you can make the power stone somewhat tolerable with the pause reset glitch
I’d say MM5’s slightly underrated, but only slightly. It really didn’t add anything new to the series. Of course most Rockman after it are guilty of the same reasons. It’s a competent game but mostly just a rehash of MM4. 8 robots, 2 castles, a fake out villain, Wily Capsule. Exactly what MM4 did. Good video anyway.
I feel like a lot of these opinions on games were kind of just things you had to say to make yourself look cool more than actual remarks on the game. Me too I discovered a lot of these games on emulator before youtube and before hanging out with people with a certified geek sticker on their foreheads. Turns out I like 5 more than 3 and 6!
I played all these games when they came out. I never have and never will understand whatever hate 4, 5, and 6 get. I loved them then, I love them now, and they all end up in the upper half of the list if I'm ranking all 11 games in the "classic" series.
I like Rockman 1-5 but I have an opposite opinion for the 6th game. Rockman 5's difficulty is well balanced and is a great entry level game to newcomers for the series.
@@VGReader there's a lot I don't like. For starters, the charged shot is very nerfed. It was fast to charge in Rockman 4 but the hit box is small. It was the opposite in Rockman 5 but you lose your charged shot when you get it. The hit box went smallest for the charged shot in the 6th game. Also, you cannot cancel your slide by jumping which makes Rockman's movement very sloppy compared to the 3rd, 4th, and 5th game. The only thing I like about Rockman 6 is the Energy Balancer that automatically let's you weapon energy when your not using any of your weapons.
MM3 was the pinnacle and peak of the entire franchise, that includes the snes 7, that crappy Saturn and PS1 8, and the silly 9 and 10 titles. 11 is kind of ok.
I’m not a fan of the stages where you have to fight the MM2 bosses in MM3. Otherwise, I used to think MM3 was my favorite! I’ve come to like others in the series a bit more now though I’d say.
I have Mega Man 1-6 as my top 10 NES games. I still believe that Mega Man 5 is the 2nd worst of the 6 NES games behind only Mega Man 1. It's the easiest of the NES games and has the worst soundtrack.

That said, Mega Man was my favorite series growing up and I enjoyed all of them. Can’t really go wrong with any of them.
