It was revealed in the book Ascendance to be a lot of things that Adam had planned for the future. Among them was information on a Hammer of Dawn satellite in Azura - which is what led Delta to it in the first level of Gears 5.
I am still new to the franchise. I played Gears 5 but only on Horde, Escape, and Hivebusters (which turns out to be a better campaign than the main one).
The way he went out was so badass. Good, often forgotten part of the story
