I rode this back in 99 and rode it again this past Friday. After all these years, it still holds up and is my number one roller coaster at Busch Gardens!
Believe me, the cobra roll (which is the third and fourth inversion in one element) is considered the highlight of the ride by enthusiasts. Some don't like it because it is so whippy, but it's my favorite element on an invert.
Haven’t ridden alpie since 2004… banged my head around so much i had a headache and nausea for the rest of the day. I was a little shorter then, and Some folks have said they’ve smoothed it out a little and i should ride in the front, which i never have, and i LOVE every other B&M invert i’ve been on, so, maybe i’ll try it again next time im at BGW…
Once back in the late 90s, my brother and I rode this 11 times in one day. Great memory. We couldn't understand why our parents didn't want to ride it eleven times-- but I get it now 😆
Yes! Teenage me would ride this over and over. 35 year old me not so much - I rode it twice in a row yesterday and my hips and head were screaming afterwards😂 Still a great ride though!
I went on this for the first time and i didnt feel sick or anything but afterwards i felt like i was in a dream- it felt horrible not in a physical way but like the ride was really good
Never been on such a thrilling intense but AWESOME ride! The girl who was sitting next to me literally vomitted right off the exit thats how intense it is. Out of ten, 9.5/10
For this type of ride specifically, I'd say more then others. If you are used to riding the more compact inverted coasters like your batman clones or talon at dorney, youll feel the height more on here, on the drop and large inversions. For coasters in general, not as much as like apollos chariot or pantheon at some points at the same park.
i wish i could like this so bad!! i went on like two years ago and greyed out so bad i thought i was gonna pass out and swore never again. the other day i decided to give it another go and i really should’ve learned my lesson!! i’ll probably still go on again though cause it’s so fun, i just hate the feeling.
What will happen If Alpengiest gets diverted into a B&M Ski Coaster and would you care if they should? We'll it's obvious that the track will still be inverted, but you'll also be standing up when it's inverted while running on RMC like rails below to make it look like your skiing 🎿 . it will still be called Alpengiest but if they diverted into a Ski Coaster, it would match the theming?
Im going here possibly next month, and scared shitless to try Alpengeist & Apollos Chariot. I want to reach new heights and rider taller coasters. But almost 200 foot drop and 200 foot drop for Apollos Chariot😬😬😬 im not too scared of lift hill heights anymore, but i am terrified of the feeling of "the drops" ADVICE PLZ!! Do you feel the drop on both of the coasters i gamed?? I'm a kinda new coaster enthusiast, and ive conquered some pretty tall coasters throughout my journey, but terrified to get to the 200s. Ive also been to this park before but never rode the biggest stuff. Only Verbolten, Lochness Monster, etc. Which i love sm🔥 Nothing close to the 200s tho yet
I know I'm late but if you clench your legs together and close your eyes you don't feel the drop as much, if at all. Alpengeist's drop banks to the right, as shown in the video, so you don't feel it. Apollo's Chariot you'll feel the drop on but it's also a lot of fun. My suggestion would be, if you haven't yet, give it a try and the worst thing that could happen is a minute of your life that you didn't like. You won't even think about it afterward. You got this! 👍
My harness came off at alphengiest bunch gardens Virginia funny thing is before the ride I checked it and it was locked in and the guy but right before the drop I look down and it's not locked in and the bars where above my waist and even above the bottom of my stomach lucky I saw it and didn't panic/ imagine if I didn't notice it 🤦
me and my friend went on this ride 2 times it was great but the 2nd time wss when we mesed up we picked the backseats and that made our head hurt after the ride but the ride was so fun
watched this to see if there would be a chance in hell I would ride this. That's a big NO from me. I know I'm lame. I can do Verbolten, Invadr, and Darkoaster but I don't go bigger than those
Pretty sure all the modern ones do. IIRC it's done to reduce stress on the lift chain. My home park (Carowinds) has 3 B&Ms (Afterburn, a shorter, slower, older but more element packed floorless like AG, Intimidator, a 3-train hyper similar to Chariot, and Fury 325, which needs no comment). Each has the "Dip" off the chain lift, even Afterburn (Originally our version of Top Gun), which predates Alpengeist by years. Better coasters or not I'd trade you home parks happily. BGW is absolutely beautiful. I was there when young, when BBW and DF were still operating. My last visit has been a while, latest ride then was Chariot. I know they've added Verbolten, a B&M dive coaster, and a new triple launch Intanmin ride that looks sweet. Cheers!
@chargedonpc9989 they don't, I have no idea what the other commenter was talking about. Neither Intimidator nor Fury have any form of dip before their drops
Slight correction: it was actually Volcano at KD who broke the speed record for inverted coasters, since it hit 70 mph. Just saying that before all the nerds start pouring in
The nerds are going to pour into your comment instead, lol. The description specifies "B&M (Bolliger & Mabillard) inverted coaster" in which Alpengeist is. But Volcano was an Intamin.
I’ve never ridden roller coasters until today in Busch gardens. Alpengeist was my very first ride and it was AWESOMEEE
Try griffin please
That's a pretty intense first roller coaster
@@michaelpryor78 it was 😭 (glad my friend motivated me to try it tho)
@@Cheshire_Rose 👍
Congrats

The little turn into the midcourse break run is actually the most intense part of the ride. Super whippy.
They missed a hyper by just 5ft!
i wouldve just lied 😭😂
@@maincoasters lol
Don't worry about this.
They tripped at the finish line
@@elevatoralarmcoasterandarc1214 oh I’m fully panicked about it ngl
Rode Alpengeist 20 years ago, and it's still my favorite ride of all time--fast and thrilling without being pukey. Awesome!
I've watched pov vids of this beast many times over the years, and that first inversion always makes me clench. A legend I wish I could ride.
Believe me, the cobra roll (which is the third and fourth inversion in one element) is considered the highlight of the ride by enthusiasts. Some don't like it because it is so whippy, but it's my favorite element on an invert.
That lift hill sound... Would scare the crap outta me. The rest, however, is pure simple B&M flawlessness.
I’ve been on Batman and Nemesis, trust me, that sound is 20x louder irl
My favorite ride at my home town park. Love it. Always front row

Loved this ride. One of my first upside down roller coasters ever in my life. First one being Loch Ness Monster

Legendary

I came here to say the same exact thing, but for me, mid-2000s. As kids, my friend and I rode it 11 times in a row. No way I could do it now.
I went on this for the first time and i didnt feel sick or anything but afterwards i felt like i was in a dream- it felt horrible not in a physical way but like the ride was really good
I know what you mean actually, a few coasters can have that affect on me as well. I305 at kings Dominion the first time i rode it.
Steel Curtain is the tallest inversion coaster in the world with the inversion happening at 197 Feet, with the coaster at a height of 220 Feet
This looks to be one of the world's best B&M Inverts!
Question, isn't this the tallest and fastest b&m inverted coaster out there?
Yep, sure is
My first roller coaster!!!! I love it so muchhhhhhh
My first one too!!
Very intense ride for your first
@@OperagerI mean Maverick was my first coaster. Lol
Never been on such a thrilling intense but AWESOME ride! The girl who was sitting next to me literally vomitted right off the exit thats how intense it is. Out of ten, 9.5/10
Is it just me or does this not look high at all in the video?
Not very high at all
The inversions and loops are really big.
Do u get a lot of that dropping feeling on this ride?
eh not as bad as others since the first drop kinda twists but it’s definitely still there
For this type of ride specifically, I'd say more then others. If you are used to riding the more compact inverted coasters like your batman clones or talon at dorney, youll feel the height more on here, on the drop and large inversions.

It seems design originally had trim brakes before entering into cobra roll. There’s mounts for the sensor where it would normally have been on.
I’ve never been front row on this ride but I have to try it now.

This is such a good ride
I can't tell if they repainted the coasters or if that's just the sun, but I'm always happy to see my home park.
Yeah it got a paint job. I'm a big fan of the bright blue

Just put your hands up and lean back. This helped me conquer roller coasters with huge drops.
All the trees!!! I love it
This is the most intense BM. Invert, I've ever riddenn not named banshee
It’s crazy to think this thing opened in 1997
If it was 5 feet taller they would have had 3 hypers in the park!
I rode this today and for those worried don’t be it’s not that bad
My harness came off at alphengiest bunch gardens Virginia funny thing is before the ride I checked it and it was locked in and the guy but right before the drop I look down and it's not locked in and the bars where above my waist and even above the bottom of my stomach lucky I saw it and didn't panic/ imagine if I didn't notice it 🤦
I have never encountered a cobra roll so snappy. It’s unreal. In the best way.
Rode this a couple of times yesterday, my two nephews chickened out on me
YES, Mr. J.H.V.O. HAD SOME FUN.
Rode this 8 times in one day
In this light, I can’t tell if this was before or after the repaint
It looks like after, the old paint was more dark green than this.
Definitely after, they used to use a much darker blue for their support columns
Am I wrong to think "Batman, only more so"?
I don't know why everyone flocks to the Verbolten, this is my favorite ride now, and the line is usually minimal
me and my friend went on this ride 2 times it was great but the 2nd time wss when we mesed up we picked the backseats and that made our head hurt after the ride but the ride was so fun

@BWM135 thanks because at the time I didn't know it was called a pre drop, I guess it makes sense from a engineering perspective 😅 🤔 😀

Best cobra roll
*the chorus of screams*
I recently go to ride Montu at BGT, I am sure this coaster is just a faster and more intense version of Montu.
I feel like everything is good of this ride, but they make a big mistake to not make it hyper, it could be "the only hyper invert in the world"
New Paint Griffon
Sad, I’m sitting at the warehouse next to the rollercoaster and I can’t enjoy it 😂😢
I rode this at night in the front row and I swear it was more intense than Intimidator 305
