The relationships I have forged through the hobby mean more to me than any of the cardboard I have accumulated. Forming great friendships is a big win. It’s hard making new friends as an adult. Everyone is so busy with life and responsibilities. It’s fun meeting people that share the same interest. And they have found some great cards for me, and it is useful getting someone else’s perspective on something you are going after.

Just watched and I agree. Relationships are one of the most important parts of the hobby. I've met so many great people who I deal with on a consistent basis. I'm in North Central Ohio so I'm sure we go to a lot of the same shows. I did go to Strongsville on Sunday. We also share a common collecting aspect-Manny Ramirez. I probably have a few you are interested in, so if interested let me know and we can exchange information.
Meanwhile in Central Illinois I walk up to a table to buy 4 low-dollar raw Jordan Love rookies totaling around $40-50 in comps. Guy comes at me with an offer of $90, aaaaand I walk away. He's going to be waiting a long time to sell those cards if he's trying to get that much at a small card show.
Bryan come up to Joliet this Saturday or Peru on March 23. Both are some of the best shows to buy at in the Midwest. Lots of stuff priced at or below comps and all are willing to negotiate.
A lot of great points here - it’s always about who you know. I grew up in Northeast Ohio, but I’m in DFW now. Yes, I get the Dallas card show every two months, but sometimes I wish I had the shows that go on around you instead. Wish I could make it back for the Stro Show and the National, but it’s just not in the cards this year (pun intended). Thanks for your tidbit!
I have small local show guy once asked me what i collect told him exactly bc i thought i was building that same connection but this dealer decided to get some cards of the exact guy and tell me double comps ??? I obviously wasnt buying now he shows them to me everytime 🤷 and acts like im the cheap guy who wont buy them and told every dealer in room this guy says he collects the guy i get them for him and he wont buy them except he fails to mention hes charging double what they are worth😊

I can relate. I have a guy just like that. I almost tried to buy some cheaper cards to be nice but he’s such an AHole I can’t 😂
