Hard to imagine Arthur passed away only 3 weeks after the concert. As if the illness has given him an extra time and strength to finish up on a high together with his band for one final performance :(
    RIP Arthur!

I saw KISS open for The New York Dolls, in Toronto, in June 1974. Great double bill.

Yeah! I also saw The Dolls in 1974, before the release of Two Much, Too Soon. They played in a hotel basement space with a low ceiling and no stage - same level as the audience! Traded insults with hecklers. Hilarious and brilliant!!

Gary Powell was an amazing choice for this initial comeback. The Libertines were the Dolls of the new millennium.

Just got done watching New York Doll. I seriously feel like a better person for learning more about Arthur Kane. I kind of cried like a bitch as I neared the end of it. LOL. Beautiful man indeed. RIP

What a treat, it doesn't get any cooler than the guys, doing what they do. I never got to see all of the Dolls, but this was a rush...thank you from this side of the border.

Dolls wanted Gary Powell to drum for them as they thought that the Libertines were the only decent band to have come out in last 20 years or so. Same thing with the Who and ended up with Roger Daltrey doing a tour with Pete Doherty.

Agreed! It's great to see the surviving Dolls doing well but Thunders and Jerry Nolan were the guys that powered that band, no question about it. Without them the Dolls just seem kinda.. ordinary. JT mightn't have been the most technically accomplished player on the planet but that means zip - I've never seen a so-called virtuoso that could ever convincingly replicate what Thunders did.

How can you play with urgency and aggressivity ,and at the same time playing with spontaneity and abandon?
It's like playing two different ways at the same time.
      Only Johnny Thunders.

Very subdued. I expected a head shaking, out of key backing vocal from Johnny. Stepping up to share a vocal with David. I guess you couldn't or wouldn't upstage David or Syl on a comeback.
