    Never viewed anything like that. In time, I imagine, stress cracks will begin to show on the trailers and perhaps tractors frame rails.

      I would imagine those trucks and trailers will have all sorts of issues in a couple of years.

    I have worked with trailers like these and this is interesting to watch. I have never seen a dozer pick the trailer up off the ground. We always pushed them. I can see that he might be knocking the dirt off the inside of the trailer, but I am not sure if it is good for the trailer. The dirt looks a bit damp to me. If they chained the gates at 3/4 open and they all went a bit faster, I am not sure how many would get stuck? You notice that the dozer operator did not bother to go back for some trucks, as though he knew who would get stuck and who would drive on through. I have never seen a truck hit the brakes while he was dumping. If these were the aluminum trailers, they would all be in the weld shop by 1pm. A very interesting video and very clear quality too. Thanks,

    I operated a 275 AX Komatsu bulldozer pushing up phosphate rock from these bottom dump trailers which the material did not stick. Some truck drivers could unload without getting stuck and only a few could not. My company said to pull the trucks out verses pushing on the trailer when one got stuck.

    • @DieselandIron
      @DieselandIron  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There's not anything wrong with pushing on the trailer. What's really destructive here is the fact that he's lifting the trailers up and dropping them from 4 feet in the air

      @@DieselandIron Agree is that bottom dump trailers have push blocks exactly for being pushed!! Agree with you as to not dropping the trailers. My experience is the wider the gate opening when dumping the more chance for these trucks to get stuck but if it's a short fill run then not a lot of choices.

      I had the same thought when filming. The only thing I could come up with is the soil was a heavy clay mix that was sticking to the trucks and he was trying to knock it out. Not the approach I personally would have taken but hey, if the foreman stops by and tells you that is what you're going to do...

      You can hear & see the trucks braking against the dozer blade, when they let the brakes go, the trucks fall off the blade. Not much the dozer can do to help them. I suppose The trucks could keep the brakes on until the dozer put them back down

      It is a coordinated effort to get the clay out of the trailer. The dozer would not be able to lift the trailer if the truckdriver was not holding the brakes

    • @DieselandIron
      @DieselandIron  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fredrikherbertsson3447 I don't disagree with you there. My bigger concern would be damage to the trailer suspension. It's only a matter of time before you get busted springs, air bags or an axle. Again, if my super told me that's what he wanted me to do then by all means, I'll bomb trucks all day. This wouldn't be MY chosen method to deal with the stuck clay.

He was dropping the trailers to clear out stuck material so it very well could've been the foreman's call to do it this way. Thanks for commenting!
