    Not a fan of end dumps. I was working as a contract mechanic for a company who was doing a couple of large road building projects in town a couple summers ago. One day they had an end dump tip over and it unfortunately crushed the cab on a truck parked beside it. Unfortunately the guy in the second truck didn't make it from what I heard. Why they were dumping with other people and equipment so close by I'll never know. Just shows that a guy really needs to pay attention to what's going on around him when on the job.

    Been running end dumps for almost 30 yrs. It'd easy but you need to be careful especially when spreading. I can see why these belly dumps are used in windy regions and also where you're gonna spread alot without equipt machines doing most of the work.

    Old school cool.
    In kiwi land the bottom dump doors open so it spreads it like it’s been trailed out and you can do half width trails as well or in the wheel ruts on a metal rd.
    Haven’t seen one like yours with scissor opening doors.
    Very cool.

    I run a belly dump as an owner operator based out of Casper WYOMING many years ago when I was a pup, I liked bottom dumps very much.

    Pulling double bellies is fun, end dumps are sketchy

    I take the widrow-gate bottom or belly dump over the end one, because it does the job in road pavimentation so easy.

    I was watched an end dump trailer unloading mulch. It was winter and the mulch was wet and froze in the trailer. The truck and trailer were sideways on an inclined paved parking lot. The driver raised the trailer as far up as it would go. The trailer tipped over sideways, taking the truck with it. Made quite a loud bang when it hit.

    In an operation like this, a belly dump is the way to go. Dumping in a stockpile, at a redi mix plant or control flow in a mill, the belly-dump would not work. Most concrete plants in the east are small operations, and do not have the space or hoppers for a belly.

    there is no comparison. If you use the correct equiptment for the job.
    Lets see the End Dump vs. the Belly Dump hauling broken Concrete and Asphalt.

      Actually ive hauled asphalt and milling with a belly dump just fine... works perfect when you wanna leave a straight line instead of a pile of everything

    I've run belly, semi end, truck n pup and think for most application the truck n pup isfaster and smoother. On a long, relatively straight job the belly dump can be damn fine too. Knew a grade crew foreman who was so smooth on a blade that he could move a pile faster than many semi end drivers could spread it. RIP Kevin.

    To be honest bottom belly is more faster and efficient for a contruction like this, open and flat with make the it very easier for a moto grader to grade cause the load is already spread instead of pilled. As to where the end dump tipper trailer to me is more neccesery in confind spaces such as cities to bring loads in pill while a bottom bump cant do that, so as someone say in the 👇 comment below they both have there purpous, but interms of unloading fast bottom belly all the way 😊😊🖒and fact end dump are mostly likely and easily to tip over if not set right

  • @gangesexcavating

    pretty archaic old end dump. You would be maxed on axle weight in British Columbia before it was full. 22 yards would be all it could legally haul here.
    It the situation you are in the belly dump is the way to fly but its uses are limited.
    A lot of guys are running tandem axle dump trucks with a tandem axle pintle/5th wheel converter dollies with a tri axle end dump over here on Vancouver Island, they can move the material well.
    But for what you are doing in this video, it's the belly dump.

      Since a belly unloads so much faster, let's start hauling three or four foot boulders in them. Makes the job go faster.

    live bottoms carry as much as an end dump!
    But they dont have to tip up ...
    they have a conveyor in the bottome of the box.

    New or experienced operator in the seat ? With or without a 4 foot level to put on the tailgate,when in doubt of what "level" actually means? Wet sticky loads or loose stuff? Overhead power lines within a mile of the job?
    That is just a few of the variables before I give you a concrete answer. Oh the horror and carnage .
    On second thought, I choose option C. A 10 year old kid, with a little red wagon, the only safe bet. LMAO !

  • @rodpatton6105
    @rodpatton6105 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    On a level pad like you have there I would use either one. Your belly dump does a good job on it's own, but I would chain the gates so they spread the material a little lower and longer. With your end dump it's hard to spread with that barn door, but not impossible. With a hinged gate I would and do many times put a chain across the back and spread the material about 6 to 8 inch's deep, so the blade operator didn't work so hard. Note: I use 38 to 40 foot end dumps, steel or aluminum in structure, way out here in the wild Southwest of Arizona. I ran a Transfer too many years not to be able to spread material as needed. L.- B.

    • @Jpaydirt
      @Jpaydirt  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rod Patton Dam gates are worn out, so if I pin them it leaves a bunch of material on the left door, so sometimes we just toggle the switch back and forth while dumping to control the gates some what, then let them open all the way to get it clean so we don't break windshields, It needs fixed its on my long list LOL

    to the guy driveing the white end dump, It realy doesnt take That Long to air up the tires, keep running that low and they will ether blow or your end dump will fall over, It takes less time to air up that it does to upright a flipped truck and trailer

      +Gable Mullen Our rock here is some of the hardest around, millions of years water has worn them down to just the right size and deposited them all over the valley, one time a crushing contractor from Wisconsin came here with a roll crusher and was going to crush the hell out of some rock, double shift style, I just laughed and said "no you will crush during the day and spend the night shift welding your rolls, and thats what happened, they said they had never seen such hard rock,

    belly dumps are good in some situations as are end dumps. this pad had the run to bring in a belly dump but then you get the job site where a belly dump wont have the run to unload. i have ran both end dumps and belly dumps and i prefer the end dump for the simple fact that every load is going to an adventure. i just love when you got up in the air and she starts to dance for ya. makes the butt pucker the seat. belly dumps are just too boring for me. im just sayin

    So U compare a belly dump to a "barn door" end dump, that the driver idles up and can't chain up to spread ? The Belly Dump truck is also about 40 years Newer, why didn't U compare that also. Next time Hire a Driver that knows how to do the job, remember U get what U pay for...
