The Pathfinders are one of the British Army's most specialised and secretive units. They are trained to be the "first in" to enemy territory, and are often parachuted in on missions to recce, capture and kill. Captain David Blakeley is a veteran of such missions, having been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and before that to Sierra Leone and Kosovo, where he says his work was so sensitive it could have triggered World War Three.

gurkas dont even compare to pathfinders they are one of the most capable units in the british armed forces and have even better trainings than the US RRC which is a Tier 1 unit.

just lolling America have pathfinders they went in parachuting behied enemy lines a head of the invasion to set up radio beckons for the para LZ.
16 bat pathfinders go in ahead of the SAS and recon and gather intel.
SAS troops aspire to be a Pathfinder they are the élite of the élite.
American special forces come to Britain to learn the HALO (high altiude low opening)and HAHO (high altitude high opening) the later allowing 25 miles of undetected travel in behind enemy lines,both are very hard and require a lot of heavy kit so much so as to require help in standing up to jump.

@@jonathanwaugh5216 Negative, the UK Pathfinders are more comparable to US Battalion Reconnaissance Marines. The US Army used to have Pathfinder units and LRSTs (Long Range Surveillance Teams) but they were both disbanded. The 75th Ranger Regiment is the US Army's premier Direct Action Special Operations Raid Force. The Rangers conduct covert High Value Target Raids (like the one they just conducted to kill ISIS Leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi) more frequently then any other Special Operations unit on the planet. The Rangers currently have killed/captured more High Value Targets than any other Special Operations Unit. Pathfinders on the other hand are Recon units that avoid enemy contact at all costs, to provide information to the Parachute Regiment or other units. That is very similar to the role of US Battalion Reconnaissance Marines who deploy ahead to provide information to the greater Marine Expeditionary Force. Pathfinders and Rangers aren't Similar.
