My Australian Shepherd is veryyyy clingy and usually doesn’t like other people but when he sees someone that matches his energy he will get attached to quick.
Eugene also mentions spending time with Bowie when he was a pup. Thats important imprinting time. I got my basset when I was living at home saving for a house, and in the 3 months he really bonded with my parents. To the point where the only time he doesnt bark at the door is when they knock.
Normal people: I think my dog got abused from a shelter and is just scared from that. Eugene: I think my dog was coddled by an old lady and the lady died in front of her and now Emma is traumatized.
Its funny how even when it comes to dogs, Eugene is still so PERFECT and the only one who was ok with the switched dog, the other try dogs had trust issues lol.

Let’s be honest, Maggie and Zach are doing something right with Bowie. He’s very well-behaved. My dog couldn’t be trusted to go-off leash on a trail without running off until he was 6 or 7.
My dog is 4 and a golden retriever (so can be incredibly well trained) but he can only be off lead at the dog park, dog beach, or on a walk where there are no dogs/ he is too tired to care
My dog is a 2 year old rottweiler and he can already go in the woods behind my house and in the front yard and on a walk in the neiborhood which is surprising cause my other dog is 5 and cant go in the front yard off leash
I love how in the beginning Zach says that Bowie is an anxious breed and deviation from a schedule will stress him out and fast forward to Bowie just having the time of his life.
to be fair any pet ((cat or dog or otherwise)) can be easily stressed by a deviation of schedule. I think bowie already knowing his new captor helped immensely haja

Why is no one talking about how Ned's only real struggle with Pesto was that they weren't walking at the same pace and that Ned didn't have a poop bag? For the rest of the day they just lived a normal dog owner-dog life, and that's great. Both Pesto and Ned were pretty chill.
I don’t know anything about dogs, but I think Emma really did feel comfortable with Keith, except when he repeatedly said her name, that’s when she got scared.
And put her in a bath of running water 😳 if i learned anything from my dog it's to always fill the bath tub first and then put the dog in. He also lifted her up and held her in the air above the water, which i think made her think she was going to drown her. Poor baby ❤

Honestly, pesto and wes were vibing. They were fine. And for sure for sure bowie was excited about how free life was with Eugene. Eugene just giving bowie whatever he wanted (while keeping him safe, of course. And not letting him have anything that'd kill him)
Maggie completely gets it... dogs responds to your energy they have heightened senses so they feel everything thats why they know immediately if they can trust a person or not.
Most high energy dogs bond really quick with anyone who runs around and plays with them (specially if their owners don't do it a lot). I know this because my dog's super hyper and loves anyone who plays with him for a bit lol
AxisDens But I think it was also because other than Ned, only Eugene tried to adapt with Bowie. Others were just trying to do what THEY wanted to with the dogs. Eugene was like, ‘our common point is activity so we’re gonna be active’. Keith didn’t try to understand Emma’s issues until the end & Zach made zero connection & only treated Bean as an experiment to discipline which I felt really bad about.
I love how Eugene is just literally the perfect dog parent doesn’t matter the dog. the dog will love Eugene I also love how Keith got Emma to start being a little bit more confident he hyped her up in that outfit and she was feeling confident and rubbing her face in the dirt she came to him when he was calling her for the bath and she was wagging her tail is so cute

Dogs can sense when you don't like them. That's why Zach had such a hard time at first. I'm a trainer and you can't do anything with them until you build a relationship.
I don't like interacting with animals cause I don't like how bony they feel. So, I purposely avoid them and sometimes tell them to keep away but they still seem to want to stick to me and play with me.
Winds me up how Zach was instantly projecting neurosis and personification onto Bean. He's an active healthy dog (dogs bark and protect!) that expects an alpha and to be played with, not stared at and having an huge Freudian download put on him - jeez man, lighten up!!
@@njj1117 it's 100% always a mistake to project human intentions and reactions onto dogs. Training dogs is more of a matter of training humans how to understand their dog, and that's one thing we always emphasize. Also his attitude that he could raise Bean but Ned couldn't raise Bowie is completely off base - Aussies like Bowie are notoriously easy to train, and are among my favorite breeds because of it, while doodles are stubborn and clingy and weird in a way that makes training them a bastard. Zach acts like Bowie is special and a result of his excellent parenting when he got a breed who are by and large affectionate, easygoing, quiet, and bred to take directions from humans. Ned got a breed that combine the anxiety of poodles with the rambunctious neediness of labs. I could go on about this forever, TBH, it gets me going because so many of my clients act just like Zach and I can't rant at them because they're paying me 😅😂
@@CJMGalaxy completely agree; I'm no expert but I did previously have a labradoodle we got when he was 16 weeks old who had only barely been taught to sit by previous owners. Trying to train him was a hell like no other, and even then he wouldn't do anything reliably. He was constantly hyper, and since he was pretty big, he would knock people over fairly frequently if they weren't prepared for it. Working dogs, like the collie cross I have now, seem so much easier to train, and just generally be around. (Also, looking at how Maggie did with Bean, I would NOT be surprised if most of Bowie's training and encouragement really came from her)

Well he takes Pesto and Emma, so I'm sure Bean would be fine :) I think the main thing is that Bean could really use a way to use his energy while Ned and Ariel can't take him out as much, so it would be nice for him, plus he can be chill at home which would be nice for them while they have to focus on Wes.
Eugene: i don't want a high maintenance dog, i'm used to low maintenance dogs Eugene, later: last time i saw Bowie he wrecked my entire apartment Also Eugene: *really excited to get Bowie and has the best day with him*
To be fair, Keith doesn’t have a dog; Ned did a pretty good job; Zach was strict but he learned from Maggie; and Eugene understood Bowie because of Zach’s strict regimen and plus he goes hiking often (even with Emma and Pesto before). So I think they all did alright. 😅
Honestly Bowie was probably back to full energy the next day! I have an Australian Sheppard and he gets an hour and a half walk right when he wakes up and then a trip to the dog park to run and play for another hour and a half every day. And that’s just to keep him from tearing up the house! Still love him though
As much as I love all the try guys, setting up a lot of rules for a dog, Shepard's in particular just isn't necessarily a good idea. Like the barking thing in particular, dogs are designed to bark do while they shouldn't all the time, it's fine if they so it every now and then.

I thought Eugene suited Bowie so much, they are similar types. Emma was so adorable, I think Keith did his best with her to make her feel safe, although I think the bath was not a great idea, she needs lots of cuddles and security. Really enjoyed this so much.

@@bandotaku she most likely have a cat with fluffy fur, and they will always be needing a bath cause the fur gets dirty and they cant clean it all themself and too keep their long coat nice and shiny and too prevent them from getting like tangles in their fur, they may hate getting a bath but some breeds really need it like persians they need like a wash once a week or so too keep their fur untangled ^^

Why is no one talking about how Ned's only real struggle with Pesto was that they weren't walking at the same pace and that Ned didn't have a poop bag? For the rest of the day they just lived a normal dog owner-dog life, and that's great. Both Pesto and Ned were pretty chill.

@@njj1117 it's 100% always a mistake to project human intentions and reactions onto dogs. Training dogs is more of a matter of training humans how to understand their dog, and that's one thing we always emphasize. Also his attitude that he could raise Bean but Ned couldn't raise Bowie is completely off base - Aussies like Bowie are notoriously easy to train, and are among my favorite breeds because of it, while doodles are stubborn and clingy and weird in a way that makes training them a bastard. Zach acts like Bowie is special and a result of his excellent parenting when he got a breed who are by and large affectionate, easygoing, quiet, and bred to take directions from humans. Ned got a breed that combine the anxiety of poodles with the rambunctious neediness of labs.
I could go on about this forever, TBH, it gets me going because so many of my clients act just like Zach and I can't rant at them because they're paying me 😅😂
@@CJMGalaxy completely agree; I'm no expert but I did previously have a labradoodle we got when he was 16 weeks old who had only barely been taught to sit by previous owners. Trying to train him was a hell like no other, and even then he wouldn't do anything reliably. He was constantly hyper, and since he was pretty big, he would knock people over fairly frequently if they weren't prepared for it. Working dogs, like the collie cross I have now, seem so much easier to train, and just generally be around.
(Also, looking at how Maggie did with Bean, I would NOT be surprised if most of Bowie's training and encouragement really came from her)

I have an Australian Sheppard and he gets an hour and a half walk right when he wakes up and then a trip to the dog park to run and play for another hour and a half every day. @@bandotaku she most likely have a cat with fluffy fur, and they will always be needing a bath cause the fur gets dirty and they cant clean it all themself and too keep their long coat nice and shiny and too prevent them from getting like tangles in their fur, they may hate getting a bath but some breeds really need it like persians they need like a wash once a week or so too keep their fur untangled ^^
