BTS usually has behind the scenes pieces for all their music videos. Might be fun to always do the two videos back to back as a Videographer, the official video then the making of. Spoiler: the explosion was real and they had to dance without flinching when it went off.
This MV changed my life. I became an instant fan. I thought “OK, I’ll watch anything these guys do for the rest of my life.” Have not had a single regret since. The explosion was real. In the background video, you’ll see that they did a first one so the members could hear how loud it was, so they would not react on the second one during the take. These guys are truly special. Enjoy this ride, I know you will.

Hello sir, that EXPLOSION IS REAL They like to use PRACTICAL EFFECTS mostly. There are behind the scenes youtube videos where they show how they did it. BORAHAE!
BTS as a group has about 350 songs. Most they wrote themselves with some collaborations on others. All have songs that are copyrighted by (KOMCA) Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) with RM (218), SUGA (167), and J-Hope (137) having the most. There is overlay because they work on tracks together too and also have songs in Japanese. Add another 55 tracks for their individual projects in the last 10 months and you can see the size of their discography catalog. This is not counting a few mixed tapes, collaborations on other artists’ catalogs, albums, or webtoon sound tracks. They pretty much sing all genres (multiple genres in most songs) except for opera or American country music. It’s literally unfair and naïve to judge their music on a handful of songs, as you will see if you continue down the BTS rabbit hold. Have fun!
Seriously, I’m so gratified watching your reactions to Mic Drop that it’s almost like I created the MV myself 😂. This was and remains one of my favourite BTS MVs … it was written by RM (the leader) as a response to all the haters over the years. They’ve said in interviews that they don’t intend to create another similar song in the future because of all the negative emotions, which just makes it more real 🔥
Yes!! I'm here for this 💜 thank you to Anthony for bringing you over to the purple side, and thank you for being open to listening to them, enjoying your journey!
BTS tries to do more practical effects than CGI, there are exceptions like DNA and Idol, but sometimes that’s deliberate as a clap back to haters. Funny when you said they spared no expense, back in the day they did very heart tugging videos but staff had to be extras and they had to borrow things like cars because they didn’t have a lot of money to make their videos. It definitely helped advance their creativity
@@joeesparks7 I'm going too request a kpop thread from green ranger for the set so I can spam it with the information about BTS and also the Stay kids members 💚🤗🍀
Oh 1st time to bts? You sir are going to love them, they have so much variety in their music. Such a humble group of guys as well, hope to see more of you reacting to bts. It will be a fun ride💜💜💜💜
They have a behind the scene video on most all of their videos. You might like to have a look at those. BTS does use some green screen, but mostly they use real effects. 💜
Just wait until you get to their complex videos. You will find that they use incredible sets, very little CGI. They use real fire 😂. As suggested consider watching the making of video along with main video. BTS has a storyline that runs through several of their videos. They are usually marked as BTS Universe. There is a whole back story. I recommend Blood Sweat and Tears, Fake Love extended version, Spring Day. There are several explanation videos that explain the background pads including books RM referenced in the songs. There is a plethora of materials for a videographer to enjoy. Also check out their stages at MMA and MAMA award shows. This are true productions with video content and complex stage set ups. 😉 borahae 💜💜💜💜
One video you may really love is "Save Me" which is a one shot. Not a one take, but one shot. And the behind the scenes video also since the weather was truly miserable that day. The cameraman was an incredible pro.
One of the things that surprised and impressed me about BTS MVs is just how much is practical sets and effects. It’s more than I ever thought at the beginning. Sometimes the effects get enhanced with cgi (like when a large burst of fire needs to be close to one of the members), but they’re practical nonetheless. So, yes, the fire and explosion here were done on set. DNA is the MV that shocked me with just how much is actual set rather than added in post. That making of video is bonkers when you can see everything they did. You’d probably enjoy watching both.
Oh it's fun watching someone who knows the video production angle! I'm from that background myself and let me tell you... BTS music videos are some of the best to ever be made. Although they started with very limited budget they always put everything possible into their videos, and nowadays they're so successful they can afford Hollywood levels of production. They often work with a video collective called 'Lumpens' who have made many of their iconic videos. They're known for being super into practical effects, and will build whole sets with moving parts etc. I personally recommend 'Blood Sweat & Tears' for a reaction, because that's one their most famous artistic videos. If you really want to make my day you could also react to the series of short films they made leading up to that single, which expand the storytelling to something out-of-this-world (Wings was a whole concept album). Search 'BTS Wings short film" and then the titles in order: Begin Lie Stigma Reflection First Love Mama Awake Thanks for reacting!
fyi 1 of the inspiration for the song was rm watching president obama's speech to congress & national press club where he dropped the mic at the end of his speech.
Nice to see you again after the session with Anthony, thanks so much for your appreciation of high quality work. Now subscribed to see more from you by BTS.. Borahae..💜
There is a Making of video for this MV. That bomb wasn’t a composite. They actually blew up the car behind BTS. They (BTS) had to brace themselves so they wouldn’t jump or flinch when it happened because they only got 1 take. P.S. the haters falling from the sky while on fire however, were probably not actually doing that in the shot.
I became a member of the ARMY with this video. I'm a 73 year old great grandma. Some one may have already commented this was done to address their haters. Even though they are currently fulfilling the mandatory South Korean military obligation at this time, they have said they would regroup sometime in 2025.
Thanks to Anthony Ray for directing you to this MV 👏 I saw you in the reaction for Jungkook (Standing Next To You) & was waiting for a BTS reaction from you. Thank you for your reaction. I never really knew how much I was going to get into k-pop and j-pop until I started watching your reactions of them! Thanks Joe E for the great reaction, and thanks to the suggestions who have brought new music to us!
~ I LOVE watching people react to Mic Drop and that huge REAL explosion in the back. I recall JHope was pretty jumpy the day this was filmed because that loud explosion scared him (I believe that was in the “Making Of ~ Mic Drop” video). I think this video is just a masterpiece. The performance by BTS is incredible, but so is the staff and production behind the scenes. All the stars aligned that day, and the result is just perfection… You are gonna love this BTS journey, and you’ve only just begun…💜 Have fun!
I love that line too many I can't even count them as they have them coming out of their ears. I think at the moment it well over 800 awards and numbers world records they are coming out of their ears.
when I became an army, I used to watch the behind the scenes of the music video first haha.... it's amazing how they do it, no holding back, fire, explosions, and falling floors, water flowing everywhere.. EVERYTHING IS REAL!
You really need to check out the behind the scenes of their MV. Those explosions are real and the guys had to try not to flinch when it exploded. 😂 I subscribed the day Anthony showed you JK’s videos. I am really looking forward to your perspective. Mic Drop was the first BTS video I ever watched back in 2017. I immediately went down the BTS rabbit hole wanting to know more about them and why I hadn’t heard of them before because like you said they were fire. Check out their song Fire. 😂
I love people in the industry who look at the videos and listen to the music and provide some technical things. I see the videos I’ve watched many times in a new light. 💜😊
The fires and explosions were practical lol… most BTS videos are practical… a good example is the fake love MV where the explosion fire and water and collapsing floor are all practical.. do run the shooting sketches if you are up for it.. army loves long af videos 💜 subscribed today
Thank you for reacting to this amazing band, sharing your technical insight, AND for the well deserved shout out to the behind-the-scenes warriors that bring the magic to life. They usually release a short “sketch” for every music video and some songs have more than one MV (a “story” one & a “performance” one). You will find much to love in their MVs and their music in general. 💜
I hate that so many people think of BTS as some lightweight boy band with love songs....they are soooo deep, so intelligent.....at 64, I am a firm and forever ARMY!
The explosion was practical 😊 Look for "shooting sketch" for pretty much all their videos, that's what they call the making of's. Fake Love, Blood Sweat & Tears, all practical effects 👍 You might love Save Me, that one was a one shot (or is it one take?), that cameraman is a ninja! Welcome 💜
Also the fire in the background and the explosion was real it wasn't composite it was actually behind them smaller though they use digital effects to make it look larger! Over early music videos with practical effects what until during the pandemic they started using green screen composites Jungkook's music video standing next to you everything in it was real. BTS music video including their solo work for their solo albums which only started in move 2022. but every member has solo songs on BTS albums. and solo projects for TV shows and movies! you watched BTS music video for mic drop. you could now watch the explanation video for the music video. the documentary shooting sketch on the filming of it and you would see that they were rolling fires and explosions behind them. Do not have music videos four songs that do not have music videos there are color-coded lyric videos! A lot of live performances do not have English translations what BTS army fans do eventually make videos of live performances and interviews and BTS three reality TV shows with English translations. translations in all languages BTS fans are global and bilingual fans in their native language and Korean translate lyrics. reality shows variety shows RUN BTS In the Soup and BTS Bon Voyage.
Hey Joe E! I was recently introduced to you thru "FIRST Reaction to JUNGKOOK - STANDING NEXT TO YOU! W/ @AnthonyRay" w/host Black Pegasus. The three of you were so fun to watch! Great reaction! I’m 40 and am a boy band junkie I thought I’d seen it all when it came to boy bands then I discovered BTS when I saw Butter I was blown away!!
BTS loves practical effects. Just you wait. Real explosions. I can't wait for you to see how they set up shots for lives. Amd the sets they build are nuts. Enjoy the rabbit hole. 😘💜🫰🏻🫶🏻
Yes the big ass bomb in the background is real 😆 they have their behind the scene video if you like to see them shooting this MV. Thank you for your react!! Looking forward for more. 💜💜💜💜
you're really into the editing and videography, love that (i caught on to you saying you're a videographer). highly recommend stray kids, their videos and the editing is immaculate. "god's menu" would be a good start. loved the bts reaction, looking forward to more.
You need to watch the behind the scenes footage for this video shoot. The fire at explosions are all practical. It's not green screened, it's not superimposed and it's not effects or CGI. As they rehearse so that you could even see the guy's flinch with the explosion goes off. And yes they have huge budgets for their music videos.
This rabbit hole is never-ending. The dynamic music, dance, lyrics, and cherry bomb on top music videos. Danger, not today, on and on manifesto film. Spring day. They really put kpop on the global map.
You as a videographer have picked amazing artists to watch for videos as they are always movie quality. Behind The scenes videos will show you a lot, so you’ll enjoy them as well. Good luck on your journey.💜
Fun fact Namjoon (RM) Rapper who Rapped in English went to open the ambulance door and it stuck shut it was do funny on the Behind the Scene's' he had to hit it twice to get the door's to bust open. I really like Mic Drop even this Steve Aoki's remix but I prefer their live extended version with the heavy bass and drum it also has 2 extended hard dance breaks. There are practice video's of that and live performance's they done at award shows of it.
Not sure if you noticed but at the start of the 2nd pre-chorus "did you see my bag" line. He is dancing with a "mirror" behind him but there is no camera in the mirror. I remember another director reacting to this and thining that was a cool effect. There was really no mirror- the dancer (jungkook) actually did the scene twice and they stitched it together to make it look like a reflection.
They really DID cause fire and destruction in the background, and they had one take to match that beat with their choreo and NOT flinch (much). There's a behind-the-scenes where you can see it. ^_^
BtS videos are a treat for anyone into video or even photography. Definitely check out their behind the scenes for their videos. They use so many practical effects. Black Swan, Fake Love, ON. Three I would recommend for your viewing pleasure!
They were dancing in front of a real explosion...watch the making of the video and the choreo videos! It was funny to watch them try not to get spooked when the explosions went off lol! You will see that with most of their videos and performances you can watch the behind the scenes, practices and making of the video's! You are going to love this journey that is called BTS!!! Their videos are always high quality and spare nothing to the imagination! If you are a videographer this rabbit hole is going to be sooooooo satisfying to you ENJOY!!
Todos sus mv son excelentes de la mejor calidad de producción y obvio sus letras y música merece algo que iguales la calidad. Excelente reacción! Claro que mi parcialidad en el tema es dudosa 😊
The fire bombs and fire were in real time on location. They have a behind the scene video if you are interested in knowing more about the production. Enjoy.
Very emotional right now because of the amazing news about BTS members' shareholder status in their company. So happy that nearly bankrupt BigHit really went all in and borrowed like crazy to sustain the dreams of these amazing men, in turn transforming their tiny company into the mammoth it is now.
So glad Anthony got you into BTS. Can’t wait for more. Would love to watch you react to ON (Kinetic Manifesto film). It is awesome! Not Today is also excellent. Thanks for your reaction. 😊
I have watched countless reactions to mic drop already and I never noticed Steve Aoki on that one shot when you first paused until you talked about it. 😂
Glad Anthony Ray gave you a list. A great introduction to them is: A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7; it is worth the 47 minutes to watch. BTS fanbase, ARMY will support you on your BTS travels. Enjoy the journey!
Good news! BTS have "making of" videos for most of the MV's, and you can see what was screened vs practical effects. South Korea has looser safety laws so when you see fire it's usually at least partially real fire. Of course sometimes they add more in post just to enhance it. But in this MV they really blew stuff up! Tip: To avoid copyright strikes play the Big Hit intro. They won't give a strike if you do. xoxox
Most of these videos got awards at the end of year in Asia for not just the video, but production, choreography. As they say can't even count them. They always do behind the scenes videos. In the red room is a photography room (old style) and the one with the rapper is a media room.
I liked but subscribed already when u watched w your crew. I really enjoy the knowledge you give us. It’s so interesting. I’m happy you can appreciate our guys and I appreciate you! Catch you on the next one!

Best advice. BTS videos have a tendency to not adhere to normal parameters. Hint: A few of the BTS members could moonlight as stuntmen.

Black swan ❤😊absolutely must watch music video next😂
Thank you for reacting to this amazing band, sharing your technical insight, AND for the well deserved shout out to the behind-the-scenes warriors that bring the magic to life. They usually release a short “sketch” for every music video and some songs have more than one MV (a “story” one & a “performance” one). You will find much to love in their MVs and their music in general. 💜
I love them boys🎉 can't live without listening to them every day.
There are so many fire BTS plus solos that you need to watch ...
I was truly drawn into them when I realized their album was named after Carl young's book map of the soul❤ my Bible😊
I hate that so many people think of BTS as some lightweight boy band with love songs....they are soooo deep, so intelligent.....at 64, I am a firm and forever ARMY!
Thanks for reacting! Yes that was a real explosion behind them... Its the BTS rabbit hole for you, there is no bottom...
The explosion was practical 😊
Look for "shooting sketch" for pretty much all their videos, that's what they call the making of's. Fake Love, Blood Sweat & Tears, all practical effects 👍 You might love Save Me, that one was a one shot (or is it one take?), that cameraman is a ninja!
Welcome 💜
Yep. We get it. Thanks for giving them a chance. We purple you💜
the explosion is real and they are there. Look at the behind making of this video they only had a couple of chances to get it right.
Now that I've seen your reaction to Mic Drop, I've decided it's gonna be SO much fun to follow you and watch you continuously be made speechless as you go down the BTS rabbit hole. So, I decided to subscribe and I'll periodically send you BTS links to check out and decide if you want to react to live to them. Welcome to Army!!!
La explosion fue real, jajjaa me gusto tu reaccion espero que sigas haciendo reacciones de los chicos, saludos desde España
You will love the behind the scene videos you will be blown away …. Fake love is amazing💜💜💜💜
Yes the big ass bomb in the background is real 😆 they have their behind the scene video if you like to see them shooting this MV. Thank you for your react!! Looking forward for more. 💜💜💜💜
In this Bantang $h!t for life❤
you're really into the editing and videography, love that (i caught on to you saying you're a videographer). highly recommend stray kids, their videos and the editing is immaculate. "god's menu" would be a good start.
loved the bts reaction, looking forward to more.
There's behind the scene's footage and the boy were on wire's as they are pulled up off the table. On Steve in on a big Screen.
Dude fuck yea keep going, these guys are something super special. All 7 of them 💜
You need to watch the behind the scenes footage for this video shoot. The fire at explosions are all practical. It's not green screened, it's not superimposed and it's not effects or CGI. As they rehearse so that you could even see the guy's flinch with the explosion goes off.
And yes they have huge budgets for their music videos.
Their choreography is sick in every video
This rabbit hole is never-ending. The dynamic music, dance, lyrics, and cherry bomb on top music videos. Danger, not today, on and on manifesto film. Spring day. They really put kpop on the global map.
I'm here for BTS! Excited for your journey!
You as a videographer have picked amazing artists to watch for videos as they are always movie quality. Behind The scenes videos will show you a lot, so you’ll enjoy them as well. Good luck on your journey.💜
I dig your reactions and observations.
This song is basically an FU to all their early haters and saying they don't see any haters anymore.
I agree, it’s 🔥
Fun fact Namjoon (RM) Rapper who Rapped in English went to open the ambulance door and it stuck shut it was do funny on the Behind the Scene's' he had to hit it twice to get the door's to bust open.
I really like Mic Drop even this Steve Aoki's remix but I prefer their live extended version with the heavy bass and drum it also has 2 extended hard dance breaks. There are practice video's of that and live performance's they done at award shows of it.
ON. MANIFESTO IS a must watch!!!!
Claro que mi parcialidad en el tema es dudosa 😊
you are spot on! Loved your comments and reactions they are on fire all the time!
The fire bombs and fire were in real time on location. They have a behind the scene video if you are interested in knowing more about the production. Enjoy.
4:23 I felt that moment of silence for RM
Their live performances are amazing, lots of visuals!
Very emotional right now because of the amazing news about BTS members' shareholder status in their company. So happy that nearly bankrupt BigHit really went all in and borrowed like crazy to sustain the dreams of these amazing men, in turn transforming their tiny company into the mammoth it is now.
Thank you! Mote BTS👍💜
So glad Anthony got you into BTS. Can’t wait for more. Would love to watch you react to ON (Kinetic Manifesto film). It is awesome! Not Today is also excellent. Thanks for your reaction. 😊
Check out behind the scenes for Mic Drop.
The only MV they used green screen I can think of is,,Idol"
Love this BTS reaction!
There is a lot to explore :) Always nice to see the videos on a different point of view. So far the most I saw reacted (mostly) on the singing.
Thank you sooo much for reacting to BTS. Get to know them Monumental Artist. Be safe Army. 💜👑
Real explosion! 💜✨💜
That's what I'm hearing🤯 I can't wait to react to more!!!! Stay tuned
Hi Joe E, Bts are fire as singing, dancing and their videos - are crazy...Peace 🔥☝️🤓
React to "Not Today" from BTS too!!! hahaha awesome!
They have a behind the scenes & dance practice for every MV fam watch they use real fire, water, everything ..do they own stunts...they GOD TIER 👑
