    You saved my ass! I was pulling my hair out trying to figure the issue out with just the wiring diagram, but it obviously does not tell you the testing as you did. Props to you and thank you very much for taking your time and effort to make this video to help fellow mechanics!

    Awesome man, thank you! My car is doing exactly the same thing. I have a 2008 honda civic ex-l and I tested my fans and by themselves they both work. When I probe the wires going to the ac compressor up by the alternator and add a ground the ac compressor comes on and the fans. I checked the fuses (all of them) and checked the relays and I had a bad one and replaced it but it's doing exactly what the car in the video was doing. I'm looking now to get a new ac head unit. That's the last thing for me to check and that has to be it. This video gives me confidence that that's my problem with my car. I really appreciate the video!!

    Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. I see several posted about this generation of Honda Civic no compressor clutch because of failed control panels or failed clutch relay or low or high levels of refrigerant that have to be sorted. My 2007 Honda Civic LX had intermittent clutch operation. I began with bypass of the a/c clutch relay using a jumper wire to add a pound of refrigerant and validate refrigerant levels are normal. I began looking at the Honda triple function a/c pressure sensor but so far not found a video that shows volt ohm meter validations for the Honda triple function a/c pressure sensor yet. I swapped the a/c clutch relay and drove around some and appears the relay swap solved my vehicle problem but I am not done yet because I have not seen the compressor fan come on yet so I may have moved my problem from the clutch relay to the fan so I need to do more. I would love to see a future video that explains how to validate and test the Honda triple function a/c pressure sensor because the videos I found so far are unclear how the Honda triple function a/c pressure sensor works and how to validate it has good outputs for high and low and normal refrigerant levels. Again thanks I am impressed with your understanding of this system and how to troubleshoot and thanks for you taking your time to help other people.

    Thanks for the video, very informative. I just put a compressor, condenser, expansion valve and pressure switch in my 2011 civic. Cant get the clutch to engage, when I first put some refrigerant in it it seemed to have engaged for about 3 seconds and hasn't come back on since. Condenser fan spinning, and the system seems to want to be running, but there is something keeping the clutch from engaging. Not locked up, has oil, checked relay, checked fuses. Going to troubleshoot some more tomorrow. Thanks.

    Good Video, I had a 09 Civic Hybrid, compressor wouldnt engage. It had a full charge. I checked for codes and it had a code for thermo sensor circuit open. I checked the thermo sensor it was .7 ohms at the sensor connector, but was open at the 3 pin connector. After much diag I found the ac clutch was open. Odd they send current thru the thermo sensor,then back thru the compressor clutch then to the 3 pin connector and up to the BCM. So replacing the compressor clutch took care of the open circuit. AC blows cold and works great now. ....Tom S. Chevrolet Master Tech 25 Years.

    The only thing that has me scratching my head is why the a/c clutch continues to be engaged even when I disconnect the AC pressure sensor?

    • @partsshooter
      @partsshooter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't remember everything but it maybe it's because the pressure switch"open" the contact when there's adequate freon pressure. Just a conjecture.

    My AC problem is that, sometimes, it goes off even when the AC switch in the panel is off. As I start the car I can hear the AC fan on, and once the car is on, sure enough the AC clutch is engaged. I took the connector off the control climate panel, and the AC does not care... still running! I also checked and swap the AC clutch and fan relays but there seems to be no issues with them. Anyway, just going a little crazy trying to diagnose this :(

      Well, now I feel I’m stupid. I checked the wiring but I did not reach all the way down next to the compressor. It turned out that the clutch ground wire was hanging there by a thread and with bumps on the road it turns back on. By looking down there you can really see it connected but it was not. I just butt connected it with a longer wire and grounded it somewhere else.

    What is the best diagnostic tool that will diagnose the AC on my 2009 civic?

    • @partsshooter
      @partsshooter  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The scan tool doesn't do much in the "diagnostic" aspect alone, but provide data from the pcm or whatever control the module you're desiring access to, which cover steps in diagnosing that'll progress you in the discovery phase. Some are faster than others and have minute capabilities over others.
      If you want to expand your knowledge, get a more expensive tool with more options with additional accessory hookups. Such as oscilloscope and camera. If you just want BIDIRECTIONAL capability, all autel bidirectional tools have this ability. You can go to their site or check Amazon for tool comparison.
      You have to know what you're looking at in the data and have service information to understand the operation. So alone, the tool doesn't diagnose a thing but gives a hint to direction.
      As long as the tool you're looking for can scan ALL MODULES and BIDIRECTIONAL, you'll be ok regardless of cost and brand, for what you're trying to do with your car only and not a buisness thing

    Question please.
    My thermal switch seems good: 1. Shows continuity 2. Passed the “ice cube” test and tapping test (ac wont come on when I apply cold and tap the switch).
    I cannot get the fan to come on when I made an open circuit with either of the pins going to the thermal unit. I did as you showed in the video: 1. Key on 2. Ran a wire from each pin at a time etc a ground with the power on
    In the video when you did that the fan would start to run. What do you think that means that mine won’t ?
    BTW mine is a 2013 with only about 80x k miles, but everything looks the same as the one you worked on. My fuses are fine, I both checked the power at the relay (had bith ground and power) and even bought a new relay to replace the old one but that had no effect either.

    Hi Hope you're doing well. I really need your help on this. I'm also having A/C problem with my 08 Civic. I already replaced a new A/c Compressor on it, recharged with freon and the A/C still blowing warm air. I noticed that the new compressor works only if I jumped it on the fuse box A/C relay port but stops when I remove the jumping wire. Mechanic told me that the Climate Control unit is defective so I end up getting a new used one on my own at Pick n Pull, put it on the vehicle but still no luck and still doing the same thing which means that isn't the problem. Now I'm thinking that this video could be the solution to my problem. Now, I want to do this myself as I already spent alot getting my Ac running again and wife isn't happy about it. Now, my question is, is it tough to remove and pull out this A/C Switch line under the hood and to replace it with a new one? Do you have an instructional video on it? I already know how to remove the panels on the dash and I don't have signal tester so I can't test my wires with the tester but I think it's worth a shot swithing the A/C Switch which could solve the issue. I want to have it fixed before the heat wave comes. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.

    • @partsshooter
      @partsshooter  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Please understand this system has to be satisfied to operate. If there codes within the ac climate control module (climate control unit) the system will not operate. This will require a bidirectional tool to attain this info. However, I'll try and help.
      Go to the thermo switch, unplug and check for 12 with a test meter. If there isn't 12v there or anything lower, the climate control unit you replaced is a bad one, and should be replaced again.
      Please note that because it's replaced, it doesn't mean it's a good working component.
      I do have another video of replacing climate control unit and it being defective, needed to replace 3! For it to work. I'll put the video down below. Although this other video is a hybrid civic, same rules apply

      @@partsshooter Hello. I did not test the thermo switch as I don't have an ohmmeter tester so I followed what you said. I went back to Pick n Pull to have the Climate Control exchanged for a different one. Got the new one plugged in the car and everything worked. Turns out the one I previously put on was also defective and you're absolutely right. Now the fans and new AC compressor were finally all working and in sync when I press the AC button on the controls but still blowing warm air after that. So I thought about it that it must be low on refrigerant so I took it to the mechanic who did my compressor and sure enough it needs more Freon so he added some free of charge. I'm so happy A/C is blowing cold now and most importantly was able to gain new knowledge and experience on this repair without spending more to it. Car is ready for the summer heat! • @partsshooter
      @partsshooter  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Low freon likely, check your low side pressure. Make sure it's close to 40psi when active.
      What happens is, the amount of freon that's in there is only effective at idle, once the engine Rev and pressure increase, the little freon that's in there is no longer conducive for reducing cabin temperature.
      Rev the engine to 2500 while the Guage is hooked up, if it drop below 20psi on low side, you're low on freon [typically... like 90 percent the time]
      There other things that cause this issue also. Inefficient compressor, possible obstruction on high side, bad pressure switch, expansion valve, condenser or bad evaporator

      @@partsshooter no doesn't blow but today everything works (ac, heat, and defroster does)

      @@Soulflwr1 honestly sounds like a blower motor. On a day it doesn't blow, turn the blower motor high, go to under the glove box and firmly, not aggressively, hit a flat spot or hit the base of the glove box.if it start blowing then the blower motors the problem.
      Air not blowing out the vents is a sign the blower motor has failed or related circuit.
      Try TH-cam the location, it may help. But that's what it sound like

    I have 2008 Honda Civic and what happens is that the a/c compressor is Allways on so the fan.I change the the pressure switch and the expansion valve and the controls switch and still both a/c and fan stays on the compressor is not a gagging and disengaging

    • @partsshooter
      @partsshooter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try disconnecting the AC pressure switch and see if the fans shutdown. If so, possibility you got a bad pressure switch. Swap the fan relays, and see if this changes the condition, possibility you have a stuck relay

    I don’t share knowledge on TH-cam.. I work too hard to figure things out myself. Then somebody else gonna copy what I just posted and get credit for it. Let them figure it out themselves
