thank you for the video. what is Diamond putting into their lights? is it basically the same thing? i am looking to do the same, but want to use it commercially. I am in Alaska, so shipping on top of the $1200 for the light has me exploring my options.
Am I correct in assuming the black wire is a standard 3 wire cable and the blue is for the dimmer? Can you provide any info on how the white wire connecting the 2 panels is done?
Might be a dumb question but is the middle brace even necessary? Do you think the panel lights would be supported if it just had a lip all the way around the frame and no cross brace?
Thanks for posting - great video. I will try and make one of these myself. Did the light end up much beyond the edges of the table? If for example, it had been same width, but 3/4 of the length - do you think the light would have covered the table to the edges at the right height? Only reason I ask - in my location I can get 600mm x 600mm panels - so could use either 3 or 4 of these in a row. just wondering if I'd get away with 3 instead of 4. Each LED panel has a 120 degree beam.
It did work at various heights for me, it really came down to what I was comfortable with for NOT hitting my head on the light. But, ya you could get away with 3 i think
Since you used 2 2x4 panels, do you find that the playing surface is bright in the middle (@6:25)? I wonder if building with 4 2x4 panels will address that and give more even light distribution.
I bought 2 of the 2ftX 4ft lights and they are both dimmable. My question is I'm just wiring up to plug in when using pool table and don't care to dim them like u said most likely keep at full on ....what do I do with the 2 wires for dimming? To wire up as a plug in light I'm only going to need ground, black and white so not sure what to do with 2 dimming wires or if I can even wire up as plug in light.
I have a garage that has 11 foot ceilings with 12 4foot LED lights 6500K so it's super bright. Do I need to make a specific light that hangs down just off table? Just getting table next week so planning ahead of I need to make a pulley system for lights to hang above
@@GearheadDaily My lights arrive tomorrow. I'm thinking about cutting a space for the dimmer in the frame, I don't have one installed in the wall but I'd like to be able to control the brightness of the lights.
What would I do if I wanted to mount this directly onto the ceiling and not on the chains? Also, I only have 1 prewired light, I will need 2 different connections to connect to led panels right?
No, you can wire both to the same wire as i did. I would hang this from the drywall with anchors or to the studs if you can find them. It doesn't weigh very much.
I love that you did this but you should do another one that is more like the Predator light with the opening in the middle. I bet with 4 fixtures of LED Strip lights you could make something that is more like their product and it still should be a fraction of the cost. Thanks for doing this anyway.
I just finished mine. Went with two 2x2 panels with a dimmer knob. No dead spots. I used black electrical tape on the white frame of the individual light.. Too bad I couldn’t upload a picture of it..
Thank you for this video. Ive been wanting a particular light like this one but didnt want to drop 1k to get it. I really wasnt aware of what components went into a light like this or that they were easily available. I now have a light much like that one I wanted but all in around 250 bucks. I did opt for nice wood so I could stain it to match the pool table.
how dd you attach the panels to the wood or get them to hang? everything still going well with the light? I am thinking about building one for a 7ft table using one 4ft panel. Wondering if I need a diffuser of some sort?
Great light but for "about a 100 dollars or so"......????. The two 2X4 lights are $149.99 before you through in the wood, etc. Maybe about 200 dollars or so!!! Still a great video and way cheaper than anything else I've seen. I going to give it a try. About how much did it weigh when you got it done? and it seems like one 2 x 4 light panel centered over an 8ft table would get you all you needed. Would you agree with that or are the two 2 X 4 a must?
This was before the pandemic and the lights and wood were cheaper. I used 1x4 and 1x3, not 2x4s. Probably weighs 30lbs i'd guess. To me, you can never have too much light. this is a 9ft table and seems about right. Half this light wouldn't be good. I'd just go with the bigger setup.
Hey Eric, Love what you did here man. I’m gonna try it. I just had a couple questions for you. I don’t have a drop ceiling. What would you suggest for securing the light to the ceiling? Lastly, the link for the led panels seems to have changed since you posted it. It’s now 4 panels and I don’t need that many. Will any set of 2x4 LED panels work well? Thanks and have a great day
Thanks for letting me know, I'll change the link.. Per the hanging... I would find a stud and use eye hooks or something similar from the ceiling that look good, like a lamp hanging. 4 points should be fine as this isn't that heavy but I like 6 just to be able to have more support.

Absolutely. This is about 8ft long.

I dont, but its plenty bright enough on the ENTIRE table.
