I'm literally climbing Pico today and you are the first person/ information source that mentions the payment for the permit. Much appreciated as I've just booked it pre taking the ferry over from Faial 🎉
I've hiked this mountain with a broomstick and tennis shoes, hung over from the wine. Best time of my life!
Pico is the best of the Azores IMO. I believe it so much so that im building a home and moving there from Canada :) ❤

Nice! I’ve had the fortune to visit all the islands in 2002 and climbing Pico is one of the things that has stood out as a memory all these years later. I’ve always said I want to do again with the kids when they’re old enough. Getting close to that and seeing your video of this made me want to do it again even more.

Yeah, all of them. Even the locals found it a bit…unusual. Some of them commented and said that they hadn’t even visited all the islands. 😀

Great Video. Brings back wonderful memories. Me and my daughter climbed Pico in 2015. On the way down the tips of our toes started to hurt from all the step downs and constant braking with our feet. So much so that my daughter had a toe nail fall off. Was all worth it. Such an amazing time! Cheers

Sometimes it’s planned but most of the time it’s improvised because I won’t know what I’ll encounter 😅 Like this one I had no idea what was coming but knew before I’d focus on filming on the way up and staying safe on the way down with little to no filming :) I’m always open to new ideas if you have any for me? :)

Where did you leave your tent? Is it a free place or some sort of paid camping? Thx.
I left it here if you search: ‘Parque de Campismo da Madalena’. It was pretty loud at night because of some party people but safe and affordable. It was 7€ for one night, cash only. I hope it helps 😄

Haha well once you're inside the crater maybe behind a rock but I usually just go off trail a bit. If it's number 2 well... I'd hope people would bag it properly...
