    One tip I would suggest (if you don't have a waveform monitor handy) is to use the GreenScreener app for Android or iOS, to get your screen lighting perfectly even. Also if the lighting style suits then add a hair light to the talent in order to make the keying easier and look more natural, especially if the replacement background is back-lit.

    Mannnn I spent 21yrs in photography and mastered greenscreen. Now, I have to re-learn for motion. I’m pumped. 💪😎

    Huge thank you for sharing these great tips. Especially regarding Delta Keyer in DaVinci Resolve. I was struggling in Adobe Premiere and even in After Effects to get my key right for the greenscreen (not saying that it is not possible but I spent hours and still wasn't amazed by the result). Because I'm new to DaVinci I didn't try it until I saw this video. I repeat after you "Just with ONE CLICK" and I was able to get a clean key. WOW. I invite everybody to try that out in DaVinci. This will save your nerves and you will stay productive and creative. Many Thanks once again!!

      Similar boat here. I always try Premiere first (to see if I get lucky) but always end up going into After Effects. But even in AE, it takes some serious effort for me to get a good key. Now I'm considering trying Resolve too. How was the learning curve for you? Is it really that much easier than doing it in AE?

    Thank you for keeping us updated as technology changes. It's great to know that this process is becoming a little less intimidating with Resolve!

    Holy Schnikes!!! Thanks for the tip about the Delta Keyer. I had been doing green screen in the Color page in Resolve using the qualifier and masking. And thanks for the tips about lighting with green light and lighting ratios. Will also have to try to increase shutter speed as well. Thanks!!!

    Really good tip about the 90 degree shutter. I've done green screen before and blur had been a big gave away. So putting motion blur in post is a work around I'll use next time, thanks,

    Thanks for your clear, concise and helpful comentary. The proceedure work well, however, it also delivered an intermittent frame with "!" in a warning triange, and the words "Media Offline". What causes this, and how can I avoide it?

    Make a video about how to light green screen separate from our subject please. Also include full body multiperson shots and midshots

  • @diogoalmeidavisuals
    @diogoalmeidavisuals 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Disclaimer:
    Do not light your green screen with green RGB lighting if you're using tracking markers (like red) as there will be no red light for them to reflect.

    • @Crimsonengine
      @Crimsonengine  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point. You really only need contrast for a decent track in most programs, so a darker green would be perfect.

    Could you do a tutorial on adding motion blur back in post?

    • @blakesinnock1386
      @blakesinnock1386 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m also curious about this. There’s a knowledge gap between camera team (using a quicker shutter) and the post team (adding motion blur back in). We do a lot of corporate content so Private Ryan doesn’t make sense, but super clean keys are important.

    I saw that you had your ISO at 400. Does this not increase the noise substantially? And if not, what would you recommend the aperture and the ISO?

    Great tips 👍 I wouldn’t have thought of using RGB lights. I have a bluescreen wall and floor in my studio with fluorescent lights, as I have always found that blue works better.

    • @Crimsonengine
      @Crimsonengine  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It shouldn't matter a ton if you're exposing right and shooting Raw. I like blue for outdoors because, being darker, it doesn't clip as easily in sunlight.

    I actually have a lighting setup question you used in your video, instead of green screen-- what do you use to hold up the wand light directly at the middle of its weight? The one you are using for your subject's lower fill... Thank you.

    When shooting green screen for a music video at your suggestion of over 1/100 of a second shutter speed what frame rate is best, 60P, 30P or 24P? Or does it not matter?

  • @Familylawgroup

    How are cell phones and computer screens recreated for film/TV? Many films show a character looking at his or her IPHONE with dates and text messages, etc. and cell provider name removed from the top line... is that using green screen or is there a software engineer who writes an app to mimic a real cell phone layout? I have The same question for computer screens or TV’s.. for example, some shows have a character interact with multiple TVs showing news footage or computer screens. I was surprised those were green screened in some BTS commentaries. Is it still the case that y can’t film an actual TV broadcast or computer because the frame rates don’t match and they will have rolling bars?

    Q: Is chroma green vs digital green a widely accepted concept in the industry?
    There is very little out there when you search for "digital green screen" - products or discussions. I see one manufacturer using that term for their product but that's about it.

    Be nice if you could do these same videos yet using what most of 95% of us viewers have at home which is your entry level camera gear and lights, Canon m50 comes to mind. Again I know your content is for high end pros, yet you could get a whole new set of viewers.

    4:2:2 RAW - does that also mean 10bit?

    • @cinnabun1046
      @cinnabun1046 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      fabfilms Filmproduktion he’s saying film in 10 bit 4:2:2 or RAW which would be better because of the lack of chroma sub sampling. Not 4:2:2 raw
