    The mouse occasionally not charging on the dock is usually the result of dust buildup on the charging pins. I usually take a cotton swab and cleaning alcohol to wipe them clean, and it works flawlessly again.

    Thanks for the honest review. Durability is important with an expensive purchase. I bought the V2 basilisk recently, thanks for letting me know about the rubber issues. I think I may return it now.

    • @GamersClinic
      @GamersClinic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Amerikkka! You are welcome, and I'm glad the video could be helpful for you.
      Though I would like to point out that, it is not every product that will have defect as that sometimes depends on our luck. I've owned quite a few Razer products, and I will say about 15% of the times, I will get one that slipped their QC/QA inspection process and will need to be sent for replacement.
      So if you decide to keep the Basilisk V2 mouse (which is also a great mouse), and there are no major cosmetic defects within the return period, you will still be covered by Razer's 2 year warranty for mechanical defects, which should be able to give you a peace of mind for 2 years of gaming ^^

  • @sackwhacker

    3 years later, I can say that it's still going strong. Yes, the rubber padding on both sides are a little worn out to the extent that the surface is smooth, and I experience the same charging dock issue you encountered. But besides that, it still feels great and I don't see myself upgrading to the Basilisk v3 pro anytime soon.

  • @jacobpriebe4316
    @jacobpriebe4316 4 ปีที่แล้ว +22

    One thing that isn't mentioned in many reviews of this mouse is the coating. The coating on this mouse is very smooth, almost like Razer's stock ABS keycaps. That means that it will attract finger oils incredibly easily. If you are easily annoyed by this like me, then this might be a problem. However, wiping it down consistently with a microfiber cloth seems to do the trick for me. Wish they went with the same coating on this mouse as the Razer Viper, because that coating has a nice coarse texture (not to the point of hurting your hands, but rather a nice feel) and is very fingerprint resistant. That would make this the perfect gaming mouse for me. I do have one, and I love it a lot, but that is one change that I wish was made.

    • @GamersClinic
      @GamersClinic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Jacob Priebe! Yes, you have a very good point here. The Viper does seem to be more fingerprint/oil resistant compared to the Basilisk. However, judging from my previous Razer mouse, no matter how much we wipe it, the finger tip area on the mouse button will eventually become shiny over time lol >

    Love your sophisticated review on this very awsome product. I was looking for reviews of the Basilisk V2 but since there are so many comments on the Ultimate, I ended up getting my own one and still coming to your Channel for more detailed Razer reviews.
    The battery is huge but with my RGB at 20%, I still have to charge about every two days since I use my PC more than 10hrs a day, I find the dock taking 4hrs to fully charge the mouse but still, very interested to watch the mouse inserted on the dock as well as watching your videos, plz keep up with more reviews like this!

    Honestly, got it refurbished on amazon for around 100 after tax and I absolutely love it. I've cycled through a lot of mice (I used to work for a Micro Center) and I'm honestly impressed. Razer, I think, is usually the weaker link in the mouse category (while usually being consistently solid in keyboards) but this is a home run for me. All the short comings from my previous mouse have been fixed in this. Big fan.

I am a casual gamer (love to play, but unable to play daily). I use my laptop (with an external low-end gaming mouse) a lot for various productivity (normal office work) a lot (>7-8 hours a day). Which of the razer wireless mouse should I go for: viper ultimate and basilisk ultimate? Which would you suggest? At my location, there is not a large price difference between them. But since this is pricey, I intend to use it for a minimum of 3 years.

    • @GamersClinic

      Hi Atul Singh Chauhan! Thank you for your support and feedback ^^ For your question, both mouse are equally great technically. But judging on your daily usage (for work) an ergonomic grip mouse provided by the Basilisk could be more comfortable (but I may be wrong as this is my personal preference and I mostly use a claw grip). And it really comes down to what is your weight preference, grip style, and RGB preference as those are the three key differences between these two models.
      Though if you want more info on the grip style and a quick summary of the difference between the two mouse, feel free to check out my other video at 2:14-2:40 timestamp at this link th-cam.com/video/W69Cq8EH1i4/w-d-xo.html

    Now here again with my mind being paranoid what is to buy, my G502 having double clicking issues after 7 years. I was thinking getting this Razer Basilisk Ultimate since it has same shape, I'm not concerned about the charging issue coz razer also mention that you have to clean the pins to charge it. What concerns me is the rubber padding. That's why I am thinking getting ROG Keris Wireless instead.

    • @GamersClinic
      @GamersClinic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joseph de Sales! Wow, 7 years is a long time! As switches have a limited lifespan, they usually wear out around 2-4 years with daily gaming use (unless defective). So you've gotten quite a great run with your G502. As for the rubber padding on the Basilisk Ultimate, it's not every unit that will be defective, but there is still a chance unless Razer does something about their Quality Inspection and control. But no matter which one you choose, all that matters is that you like it ^^

    • @GamersClinic
      @GamersClinic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi XtincS0ul! I know exactly how you feel, and it sucks! Though, It is hard to say if this mouse will have the same problem because one of the previous Razer Deathadder Elite mouse I owned, had this problem, but it was still within warranty period so I claimed for a new one. However, the newer mouse that I have from Razer still have not have this problem (yet).
      But maybe being an optical switch that doesn't rely on metal contacts inside the switch to send input signals, I'm hoping that it will last longer as Razer advertises compared to their mechanical switch mouse.

    I love this mouse and don't have any regret switching over from the G502
    The two biggest issues I have with it are
    - No Bluetooth! The cheaper Hyperspeed version supports it so I can't believe the Ultimate version doesn't!
    - Synapse still doesn't support Mac which
    Due to the two problems above I can't really use this mouse for everything as I'd originally planned
    Really unacceptable considering the price point

    • @GamersClinic
      @GamersClinic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi 007Babush! It's funny how they designed a flagship and decided to omit the Bluetooth functionality, but my guess is that they did so to keep the weight down as doing so will need a slightly larger switch and a larger IC board to fit the bluetooth chip.

    • @007Babush
      @007Babush 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GamersClinic You're right that they probably did it to reduce the weight. But considering it's lighter than the G502 wireless version I still feel they would've got by with the having the Bluetooth 😕

    • @GamersClinic
      @GamersClinic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi gup! Personally for low mouse sensitivity gaming, I would recommend a lighter mouse like the Razer Viper Ultimate as it will be easier to liftoff and reposition, and also produces less strain on your wrists and hand if you game for extended periods.
      As for hand size, it will be more of a personal preference on which "shape" of mouse fits your grip style better. As long as it feels comfortable in your hands, it is all that matters ^^ Hope this helps :)

      Hi Khor JY! If you use the mouse everyday/frequently, then it should not be an issue as the mouse will cutoff charging when it is full. But the good news is, if you still have an old gaming mouse lying around, go and claim Razer for a brand new one as their mouse and keyboards now offer 2 years warranty. I'm not sure how their QA/QC process in production is like, but there are a couple times where I buy a Razer product and some component will break prematurely. would it be worth getting this mouse for 99€? I have had some BAD experiences with Razer products in the past, all 4 of them (1 keyboard 3 mise) but it's been a long time since that and I just might consider giving it yet another chance. Although, this video already shows that the mouse has some issues. But so does every single mouse I have ever used, Razer or not. I just want a reliable, working mouse. I probably should look elsewhere than 189€ mouse, but I NEED some RGB in my life and wireless would be awesome too. With a doc no less. What else could people recommend?

      Hi Thunderhawk51! I totally understand your need for RGBs 😋 But if you can get this mouse (including dock) bundle for 99€, then I would say, you've got a good deal. Mine despite the issues, is still working properly after almost a year, just requires weekly cleaning of the charging connectors under the mouse. On top of that, Razer now have 2 year warranty for their keyboard and mouse products, so in case yours does break within that time, you can get a brand new one (Though you will still need another mouse while waiting for the exchange~...) But if you are looking for other brands, Logitech and Steelseries also have a few solid wireless gaming mouse in their product line up. My Scimitar RGB pro is otherwise working fine, but it has this weird double click issue on both buttons. Although rare, it's very annoying. Hi Andrija! The wired version on paper is technically faster in terms of latency, but it is so small that it will be very hard to actually feel it. I have it for a month now, the battery is not the greatest, I returned the first one because of a similar battery draining issue as you the second one is better but not great, if you leave all the RGB zones on at %50 then expect a maximum of 12 hours and at 100% RGB, it's discharging stupidly fast. like 3 or 4 hours from %100 to %5 battery.
      my solution to this is that I switched off the right RGB and the rest are on %25 ( static color )now it last for 2-4 days without charging on normal daily use, the color mode you choose also makes a difference.
