      Like, keep it the same, but now it can be learned by mons who could benefit from it, like a semi aquatic water type like Poliwag or Lotad, or a land dwelling flying type like Ninjask or Doduo

      This is the proper answer. It's absolutely pointless in singles, which the game is very much based around. Same deal with Helping Hand; it feels like there are so many Pokemon on Gen III trainers in singles that have Helping Hand, even though the move doesn't have a function in singles.

    Thematically, I think it would make sense to have Mud Sport be essentially a reverse tailwind. The mud slows enemy speed by 50% for 5 turns. This change would reflect the change to Muddy Water as well. Flying types could be immune to this effect. This would be useful for ground types which tend to be on the slower side.
    Water Sport could act as a sort of temporary soak. Enemies gain a weakness to electric moves (with ground types being succeptable to electric moves. Would increase the already existing synergy between water and electric types.

      How about we have mud sport increase the users special defense by 1 stage. While lowering the opponents accuracy by 1 stage. doubles the damage of sludge mud slap mud shot muddy water.. I need 10-11 turns not just when the user switches!

    Giving Mud Sport/Water Sport +1 priority and then changing it to a 2/3 reduction rather than 50% should be a good boost to the move. It allows slower users of the moves to set up a resist, and gives a good reason to use Water Sport over Rain Dance. Then the moves just need to be given out to pokemon that have any use. Sort of like how Zigzagoon gets Mud Sport and could use that to help it against Wattson.
    A pokemon like Aron already learns Mud Slap and would benefit from setting up Mud Sport to help against Electric damage. Gulpin could get access to both moves in order to make it more bulky for Wattson/Flannery.
    I don't think it needs to get too crazy, but slapping Mud Sport on movesets around level 20 for Wattson and around level 30 for Flannery might be enough to have people consider them.

    • @JayClearman411
      @JayClearman411 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Mud Sport should now reduces the base power of Electric-type moves by 2/3=67 percent is something that I can get beyond so co-sign
      Id like a +1 in priority but I’m not mad if it doesn’t happen.
      What I do want is the user of mud sport to get a stat boost in Evasion or Special defense. Which ever
      I Am pushing for Mud Sport to last for 10 turns not just until the user switches out. If anyone has every had been mudding they understand.
      I also think Minun luvdisc Mantine Surskit an Corsola should get access to mud sport!
      Plusle and azurill Roselia should get water sport access an maybe? I need to Have water sport user special defense stat raise 1 stage! That’ll help em survive. Be worth more.
      Iastly idk why this needs to be said but I’ll say it.
      Another thing yes Many Ground-type Pokémon can learn Mud Sport by leveling up despite already being immune to Electric attacks, making the effects of this move useless for them in Single Battles ok tru..However, the bonus in stage will help compensate for that plus its a mechanic made to be useful in Double Battles to help allies; Anyway imo.
      But if we make it last 10-11 turns then it is also useful in Single Battles due to the effect lasting after switching would make the move worth while!
      Grasswhistle should be on Nuzleaf! Not just on Roselia not up for debate!

    • @Caleb_XIII
      @Caleb_XIII หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@JayClearman411 yeah, sounds like a good direction.
      I thought (still in the ground segment of the video) of like "when the effect is apllied to a ground type, then aply a stockpile effect as well".
      Because a good chunk of mud around them would make them "a bit more sturdy".
      for water sport I would aplly the effect of "when the effect is apllied to a water pokemon, then aply a 30% damage increase to the next used water move".
      Boosting the special atk by one stage of a water pokemon "for certain mons" would maybe a bit to well ment. Milotic and Ludicolo would go nuts.

    • @Alienldr
      @Alienldr หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Mud sport should act like a ground type soak, giving ground type to everyone on the field. Idk if it should be just their secondary type or the whole thing like soak. Then everyone gets an electric immunity and grounds weaknesses. Swampert can now do double damage with water moves. Linoone does with surf, Piloswine with blizzard. Geodude now hits earthquakes on flying types. Pokemon lose their secondary stab boost. In doubles, the electric counter to your gyarados no longer works, and gyarados gets stab earthquake. And it's a natural evolution to the original effect since instead of giving everyone on the field a single resistance the type has, we just turn it into that type altogether and give all the positives and negatives of it.
      And for water sport, the same thing but for water. So masquerain won't just get a fire resistance. It temporarily becomes bug water like everyone wants, stab water moves, but gets an electric weakness, which makes sense because everyone covered in water should be vulnerable to electric attacks. And Ludicolo and latias can use their grass and electric moves better against the opponent. Whiscash could lose its x4 grass weakness by being pure water (water/water type).

    • @christiancinnabars1402
      @christiancinnabars1402 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The reduction should be 75% over 66% imo. That way, mons that would be weak to the affected type, like say a Water-type using Mud Sport against an incoming Electric-type attack, would become a resist instead.
      This is important, because otherwise switching into a resist would always be the better play outside of extremely niche situations, since taking only 50% of the damage would always be better than taking ~66%. That, on top of the moves taking up a moveslot as opposed to switching being a universal, effectively +6 priority mechanic.
      Of course, neutral mons like Zigzagoon would benefit even more, but considering the nature of the moves taking up a moveslot and turn to use, I'd say it's still well within the realms of balance.

If you cover the field in mud that will make it harder to move around in therefore making it harder to avoid moves. You could alternatively make it lower speed, but this way it'll make it easier for rock and steel moves to easier hit their targets since those 3 types kinda play together.

    Charge should act like Stockpile. It can charge up to 3 times, making your next electric move do x2, x3, and x4 damage based on how much its charged. And you don't lose the charge until after an electric move is used. So you can do something in between and it's still ok.
    Thats what everyone basically assumed it did anyway. In reality, its 1 charge, and an electric attack must be used next turn or else the charge is lost.

Mud Sport making your team take 1/2 damage from Electric Type Moves and maybe prevent Paralysis, while Water Sport does the same for Fire Type Moves and Burn. If just having 1 Type of move is not strong enough, you might be able to do 2 Types. I could definitely see Water Sport acting like a 5 turn party wide Fire/Water Screen and Mud Sport being an Electric/Grass screen.

It might not still be good but why can't a Pelipper cover itself with mud to try and counteract it's 4x weakness to electricity? Similar story for water sport - select grass types could get it to fight their fire weakness.

      Just turn everyone's secondary type on the field to ground. Partners get an electric immunity (works well with gyarados). Water and grass moves do more damage (swampert, linoone surf, piloswine blizzard). Flying types no longer are immune to ground moves (their wings are caked in mud and can no longer fly)
      It's better than ground types, who are immune to electric attacks, getting an additional 66% resistance to it.

    Bro did NOT just slander Sandstorm in the same generation where Sand Stream TTar was born 💀
    Ok so for context, in Gens 3-5, weather from abilities is PERMANENT until you switch out. If you somehow manage to get Tyranitar, now you have Gen 3 TTar with extra special defense, a buffed Rock Slide, and physical Crunch and Pursuit. And you will never make that Sand Stream go away unless you have Rain Dance or Sunny Day because, since that weather comes from an ability, it's going to stay there until the battle is over. Bro did NOT need to buff who is already the best Pokémon in Gen 3
    Edit: I know that Tyranitar is not available in a playthrough, but still. Assuming the Legacy games still have Multiplayer features, trading and all that, this means that on a hypothetical competitive scene, the best Pokémon of Gen 3 OU got SIGNIFICANTLY better because it's STAB attacks became more minmaxed and is now even bulkier on the special side. The reason TTar is so dominant in Gen 3 is because permanent sand pressures what would otherwise be a very bulky and stall-oriented environment, but still had the disadvantages of special Crunch and easily taken down with Surf, but with the SpDef boost of it's own sand and Physical Crunch, Tyranitar is getting the whole ass buffet.

    @WonderingWarriorWoes หลายเดือนก่อน +12

    The best option for Razor Wind is to make it the Megahorn alternative for Winged Bug Types. A one turn move with 120 base power and 85% accuracy.
    Based on the video, a lot of types now have a late game inaccurate high power move like Fire Blast and Blizzard. Bug types do have Megahorn but it's not as accessible as those other moves due to design. A lot of bug types in Emerald's regional dex don't have horns or spikes to justify using Megahorn. However, what they do have in common is their wings. The list is pretty long with Beautifly, Dustox, Masquerain, Ninjask, Shedinja, Volbeat, and Illumise.
    The second reason is the mere existence of Heracross which is one of the best bug type in the game by a landside. Who also just so happen to learn Megahorn that it only shares with Pinser. A powerful Bug type Razor Wind would make players hesitate dropping the other bug types they got earlier in their run. It would also be a nice late game boost as well.
    Finally, this change fits Emerald Legacy balance philosophy and retroactively fits well for the other legacy games: Crystal and Yellow. Megahorn didn't exist in Gen 1 and Gen 2 has the same issue as Gen 3. Butterfree, Beedrill, Venomoth, Ledian and Yanma wouldn't complain if they got the chance to spread their wings. 🦋🐝🪰

    Razor wind Idea: at minimum, give it the increased crit rate it got in gen 4 and onward in addition to it hitting both targets like in vanilla, and also maybe make it raise Attack or Crit rate turn 1 like how Skull Bash raises Defense. I also have a more creative idea for it in addition to or as an alternative to the attack or critical rate boost: +2 priority on the attacking turn, thus making it an Extremespeed side-grade. (Buffing attack or crit rate and then firing off a 2x crit-rate, both-foe-hitting Extremespeed has gotta be worth a charge-turn, right?)
    The logic behind the priority buff is that conceptually, Razor Wind (Japanese name: “Kamaitachi”, after the mythical weasel youkai which was the origin of the whole wind-slash concept) is supposed to be the Japanese media trope of a samurai or other katana-user readying their blade before drawing and slashing SO FAST that the air the blade displaces becomes a sharpened projectile (e.g., Vergil’s Judgement Cut from Devil May Cry, the Tempest Kick and several of Zoro’s named attacks from One Piece, or Crono’s “Wind Slash” Tech from Chrono Trigger); I gave it +2 priority because the whole point is that the attack itself comes out ridiculously fast. It should stay Normal type and not become Flying because a) the technique is usually depicted as a thing any swordsman can do if they’re fast enough with a blade, not something that requires actual air/wind powers, and b) Gen 3 already HAS the version that uses actual wind powers, it’s called Air Cutter; making Razor Wind Flying Type would cause it to conflict/cause redundancy issues with Air Cutter, which also hits both opponents for increased critical rate.
    Side note: we absolutely HAVE to give Razor Wind to Sneasel, the fact that it somehow doesn’t learn the move in vanilla despite being a LITERAL kamaitachi (i.e. the youkai the move was NAMED after in Japanese) is just as big a crime as Lickitung not learning Lick in RBY.

    Mud Sport ideas:
    1. Sharply lower the foe's accuracy (by 2 stages) but only hits 80 or 90% of the time. In theory, spewing mud all over the place gives me the mental image of not seeing very well, even more so than Sand Attack, so it may work, but it's still a daring move since it's not 100% accurate.
    2. Give to non ground pokemon that are weak against electricity, like a bird or a fish.
    3. Make it so the foe can''t escape (not really a fan of this btw).
    4. Turn it into a bind/wrap move where it traps the enemy in mud for 2-5 turns. This conflicts with Sand Tomb though, so maybe it could work idk (I guess Clamp AND Whirlpool do the same thing for Water Type so maybe it won't be so bad). This would be my second vote after my first idea.

    So i think a cool way to buff mudsport is to make it so it halfs the users speed but gives +1 in defence and spdef. The reasoning is because it says they cover themselves in mud to make them impervious to electric moves so instead maybe it is coating them in thick hard mud to absorb damage and in doing so they become slower. Another way to approach this is to make it so they double both defensive stats but are unable to switch out. Sort of like a worse no retreat. The premise comes from the game “stuck in the mud” where you cant move once stuck. I also think this could work since pokemon who learn this move are normally quite defensive and would benefit from this. I do believe it can be abit overbearing as an early game move so maybe it can be a later down the line move but on marshstomp it does learn it relatively late anyway. Finally maybe the move could be a sticky web as the animation shows mud being splattered all over the field and in later move descriptions it is stated that the user throws mud ALL over the battlefield. I think it should be a sticky web to ALL non-ground and non-flying/levivating pokemon as they arent adept to the muddy area. This could be balanced by being applied to both user and target since it explicitly states the entire field meaning teambuilding has to be considered when using the move. I personally like the 3rd one the best as it sounds fhe most fun but yh any potential balancing is very much welcome.

    Mud Sport:
    Sets muddy layer functionally like spikes (can be cleared with rapid spin), but instead of entry damage:
    - weakens electric moves. (1 layer 50% damage, 2 layer 25% damage)
    - lowers speed or evasion (whichever works best for balancing) by 1 stage on entry.
    - boost power for mud moves. (mud slap, mud shot)
    - changes nature power to mud shot.
    Alternative/additional idea(s) for mud sport:
    - Pseudo Shed Skin ability (stack with actual ability) for own team (15% chance per layer to remove burn, poison, etc by "rubbing some dirt it in")

    Idea for Mud and Water Sport:
    Mud Sport lingers on the field like screens for 5 turns, reducing damage of electric type attacks by half.
    Water sport the same as above, but for fire type moves.
    Both remove secondary effects of the types they protect against and nullify status moves of the type that are applied to other mons, e.g. Thunderwave and Willow Wisp.
    If both are active on the filed at the same time and a fire move is used, the target takes damage but then gets +1 Def (fire hardening and drying out the mud, think of making clay).
    This would give it much needed utility as a great support move, and would give it some niche applications for double battles.
    This wouldn't even be all that broken since in a singles format it would require set up like screens, and appropriate investment.
    If you want to cook further, make the items that boost ground and water moves extend the duration of the effect by three turns.

    So I play the frontier with Metagross a lot, and the best way (and only way really) I've found to check Latias/Latios, Alakazam, Gardevoir and Starmie is to switch into Metagross, tank 2 hits if necessary, and destroy them with Shadow Ball.
    If you switch Ghost to special then that doesn't work anymore and those mons become 20 times more annoying to deal with.

    8:00 For razor wind I think the best thing you could do to it is make it a flying type shadow ball as their isn't a single 100% accurate 80 base power flying move that can be used by most flying types in the game.
    The move could also allow other Pokémon to gain access to a flying type move that they normal wouldn't be able to have. yes fly, wing attack and other decent flying type moves exist but they either have lower power or aren't 100% accurate.
    Changing the move to this could benefit Pokemon like Salamence, Beautifly, Swellow, Pelipper, etc. some none flying type pokemon that "I think" could use this move might include: Sceptile, Shiftry, Flygon, Absol, Latios, Latias, etc.

      That makes sense to me because there’s so much water all over hoenn, the ground types could have developed some sort of resistance strategy such as a move that decreases water damage. Water and mud also have an inherent interaction in nature so you could make sense of it somehow lol

    Ive said this plenty of times but the EASIEST way to handle Rayquaza before the E4 is to NERF ITS LEVEL FROM 70 TO 45! ITS A LEGACY GAME NOT A KAIZO GAME OR A ROM HACK. DO NOT GATEKEEP RAYQUAZA IN A GAME WHERE IT IS ON THE COVER ART. NERF ITS LEVEL TO A MORE APPROPRIATE LEVEL AND LEAVE THE REST ALONE!!!!!!!
    Edit: My bad this was clearly mistyped, obviously my decades of internet usage wasn't enough for me to remember that Caps locks means shouting on the internet lololol anyway sorry for how rude this sounded as that was not my intention. Regarding Rayquaza, I would LIKE (lol) to have access to it before the E4 but I also understand its unfair advantage in the E4; ergo the level drop idea. Regarding soothing Kyogre and Groudon, iirc its Air Lock ability is what calms them down in lore, not its level. If that's still an issue, then both Kyogre and Groudon can also be nerfed in level. Either way, I would appreciate that piece of the game to still be enabled for the player to access at the same time as in the original. Again, sorry for all of ^^^ this nonsense.

    Im approaching this from a "Mud is sticky, and everywhere" perspective
    Mud Sport:
    - Make it a duration (2-5 Turns), Gives Ground type moves Priority (Ground type Trick Room, essentially), Generally Covers most Ground types' Speed weakness
    or
    - Entry Hazard, lowers stats
    or
    - Boosts power of Ground type moves
    or
    - Boosts power of "Mud" related moves (muddy water, Mud Shot, Mud Slap)
    or
    - Adds an extra effect to Ground type moves (This is a stretch, I can't currently think of any attacks/setups that do this that's not Thunder + Rain Dance, or Sunny Day + Solarbeam)
    or
    - Changes Targets type to ground (makes Ground more defensive overall, with its common counters being reduced to their Non-Stab Levels)
    or
    - Future Sight esque mechaic: Makes targets unable to move for a turn after a set number of turns passes
    i.e:
    Turn 1. Mud is spread everywhere
    Turn 3: The Mud has hardned! X Cannot move!
    The issue I have with this is that, it doesn't fit its other counterparts like Water Sport, so you'd need to change water sport to something similar. It's almost like you have to rework the entirety of the Sport moves to justify them properly

This makes the switch effect make sense. Also circle throw has decreased priority, which is reminiscent of it being a two-turn attack. While it won't be the strongest move, it'll have some increased utility/ novelty

    Greetings ! Great move revision, it all sounds great :D suggestions regarding mud and water sport, as per shared ideas in comments of previous videos:
    - Water Sport can soak the field and reduce incoming fire damage by 50-75%, lasting 5 turns (similar to reflect/light screen, it won't go away on switch and affects allies in double battles). Additionally, it could either activate ability effects - like rain dish - or give the user a 50% speed or SpDef boost. That speed boost would not work together with swift swim users, as the rain speed multiplier is higher, therefore takes precedence. It should also be available for some grass types as a way to counter fire without depending on rain (Roselia gets it in gen 4 via Budew, so it could get it here, for example. Bug types other than Surskit could get it too);
    - Mud Sport muddies the field and reduces incoming electric moves by 50-75%, lasting 5 turns (same thing as water sport). It could also boost mud moves specifically by 50-100% (mud slap and mud shot are the only ones available so it doesn't become op) to give it good synergy with a ground type user midgame while also potentially benefitting other allies with the damage reduction. It could also have more distribution, especially with pokémon known to be good diggers.
    - Finally, if the secondary effects feel too powerful on their own and you'd like to see a reason to use both moves, you could add these when both are in the field - Fire/Electric moves reduced effectiveness by 75% instead of 50%, duration goes up to 7-8 turns, 50% SpDef boost and 100% boost to mud slap mud shot and muddy water (maybe too much but so fun haha).
    Hope that helps ! Keep up the great work ^^

    My suggestion for Mud Sport and Water Sport is that they should function like charge.
    Alternatively you could make it so mud sport will block the next ground move from hitting the user and raise its attack, same for water but raise its special attack, make it a +1 priorty. This is interesting as a lot of ground types are weak to ground moves due to their secondary typing, only a couple of water types would benefit from this being swampert and whishcash, but water types are already good enough and dont need buffs

Story is that they were both looking for new dragon Pokémon in Hoenn when they heard the legend of Rayquaza. They both find themselves at his door and start to battle to see who should capture the legend when you arrive. When you show up looking to capture the dragon for yourself, they decide to team up to try and end the battle with you quickly so they can get back to the battle themselves. After you win, they decide that you were more worthy and let you pass to finally capture Rayquaza.

    Whatever changes get made to Mud Sport, it only makes sense that there would be a vaguely symmetrical change made to Water Sport. I don't see any way you can preserve these moves' identity without them being garbage. Even increasing the number of types they interact with wouldn't make it much more interesting, so they either need removed, reinvented, or ignored.
    So here are some random symmetrical changes that the moves could have:
    1) Water Sport gives all water moves +1 priority and Mud Sport does the same for Ground moves.
    2) Water Sport prevents stat decreases, Mud Sport prevents stat increases.
    3) Mud Sport could act like Sticky Web, and Water Sport could increase the speed of all Pokemon currently on the field by 2 stages (can't stack).

    Mud Sport decreases the speed of all enemy pokemon by a single stage for 5 turns. This will help out mons like Geodude who are slow in the early game (alternatively, it could reduce Evasiveness, lowering speed may be a little much.. maybe if it was only for 3 turns). Flying types and pokemon with Levitate are immune. Think of this like anti-tailwind. It’s hard to move quickly when you’re knee-deep in mud!
    Water Sport will cause Electric moves used by the enemy team to cause recoil damage for 5 turns. The dampness of the arena causes electric pokemon to short circuit and harm themselves when they use electric moves.
