      They need a regular drive or the clutch sticks and makes hard to start, very sensitive to incorrect choke use,if you forget at all to put that lever down after it's used the plug turns black and fuel gets in the oil system real quick.Then it's new spark plug time...again.
      Always keep a new spare plug on the bike.

    I just found a barn find one just like it. I am working on the owner to see if he will ever let it go. It is in ruff shape, but only has 884 miles on it with a license plate from 1978. It will never see the road again, but may have some mechanical parts....

    • @GETUPANDGO
      @GETUPANDGO  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's always a sad story when someone lets these classics rot away in a field or a barn. Hopefully the owner will let it go and it can at least help some other bikes stay on the road, or give some other bikes a second chance in general

    Lovely bike - I had one for my first bike....but out of curiosity, why not change the oil filter; now new oil will be running through whatever gunk is trapped in the filter + allows a check for any metal swarf that might be there....

    • @GETUPANDGO
      @GETUPANDGO  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! They are super fun. Good question on the oil filter--I didn't replace it because it's an internal oil filter and I wasn't ready to go through the process of opening the engine case which usually leads to needing new gaskets, etc. It's on the project list though, but some electrical issues (frayed harness, etc.) are the current repair focus

      1975 was the last year for the single cb125$ to have the tach and center stand
      Then onwards honda became cheepo on these bikes
      No more tach,center stand, half chrome fender in rear
      Bad redesign on the t chain tensioner
      Increased to 122cc and taller engine
      Two piece head i think
      Very poor quality chrome

      Hello and greetings. My 1978 model came with only the side stand. Which was a piece of junk design, the bike kept falling over on its own sometimes. I bought the center stand from the dealership for the older models and put it on mine. All of the frames are the same so it worked. And the gas tank design on mine was really poor engineering. You can't get the gas nozzle in properly when you're filling up. You get a lot of Splash Back.

    • @benjamineastman9950
      @benjamineastman9950 ปีที่แล้ว

      @irfaanxlcr8370
      I also have a 1978 Honda Cb125s. I’m guessing yours is also red. Right before I read your comment I was thinking about doing a center stand installation because I also thought the frame is the same. Was it difficult to do? I absolutely hate these gas tanks. I have two now. The nozzle hole is so small and there’s only like an inch of clearance. These are the hardest tanks to restore to get all the rust out. I also hate the front brake caliper mechanism. I finally got around to rebuilding mine. Next year I’m going to convert to 12volt and the points over to CDI

    Most bikes should start within
    Three kicks
    Something is off
    My cb125 same 1975 came in
    Rivera blue one of the most beautifull
    Shades by honda
    Well mine even after sitting for months outside cold weather
    Always started first kick no choke needed.
    The only thing i did was put cover and shut off gas.
    Remove battery to warm area and keep up the volts
    But your bike needs attention
    Bcz
    The problem is that kicker is going to fall off or break the shaft
    Thats a know simpton on these older bikes

I am thinking of buying one because I have beautiful memories of my motorcycle in my youth. Is there anything like it in California and how much is its price now?

    I have a 1980 Honda cb125s, can I use synthetic oil?

    • @GETUPANDGO

      Technically you can, but you are more likely to have leaks because synthetic has powerful detergents and cleaning agents and they can work their way through old gaskets more than conventional oil

    • @GETUPANDGO

      Yes, I should've put the drain plug back in--sometimes making videos of this stuff distracts you from going through all of the right steps. Luckily it takes such little oil it can be properly reflushed pretty quick and easy
