I'm only a video editor at The Geofront but it greatly warmed my heart to hear the shout out! This video is insanely well-made and I'm absolutely gonna share it with everyone I know who's interested in this release
Same here. I am the graphics editor and designer at the Geofront and i'm humbled by this amazing presentation. Amazing video editing skills, btw! Thank you very much.
It really is a great series and I don't think anyone would have any issue jumping right into playing from Zero and take it from there. What I would say however, is that if you're someone who isn't into in-depth story telling and world building, then this may not be the game for you as there is a lot of reading and lengthy text to get through. But It's well worth it if you're patient and attempt to read everything you can which can add valuable additional context behind characters and the general world of Trails. What I love about these games, especially the 2D aesthetic and battle system is that they feel like a spiritual successor to the forgotten Grandia series, which I absolutely adore. Don't get me wrong, I love the Cold Steel series, but the aesthetic doesn't quite capture it for me when they turned to 3D.
So, my story with Trails is really wonky. As someone who owns only a Switch and an HP laptop, I had no idea just what this series actually was when I came across it. Cold Steel 3 had a demo on the eShop that I played, enjoyed, and wanted more of. So like an absolute idiot I started with one of the (at the time) latest entries in a deeply interconnected, richly storied series with only minimal knowledge of what it was about. Surprisingly enough, I *loved* it. The combat was addictive, the soundtrack was awesome, and I found myself getting very invested in the lives of New Class VII. About halfway through I was hooked enough to finally make myself a Steam account, and download Trails in the Sky FC onto my laptop, since I could tell that the entire series was gold. I only played a few hours initially, and focused back on CS3, only focusing again on Sky FC after I had finished that. That’s why I’m glad that, even if you don’t personally recommend doing it, you admit that you can start with Zero. I may have played my first Trails game out of order, but my point is that I needed to have that good experience to become convinced to give the rest of the series a shot. Now I’m in the last chapter of Sky SC, have nearly every game in the series at the ready, and even plan on replaying CS3 when I catch back up!
i feel like i comment this every video but it's worth repeating how fucking incredible your editing is. doesn't even matter if i know the game you're talking about or not, your polish, narration, flow- YOU are the reason i tune into every video. bravo man, this is such a clean 8 minutes of excellence
This video was my introduction to you and with as good as this is you genuinely deserve about 100x your current sub count give or take. Excellent video all around! As a big fan of the series for a decade now I couldn't agree with every point you made more, and bonus points for the top-tier fandom jokes. 10/10 would Singa again
This story of a fan translation becoming official is insane, and something I want MANY MANY franchises to have. Ace Attorney investigations 2, all the 7 unlocalized fire emblem games of course, Mother 3 (of COURSE) and so much more even though they don't come to mind right now. Just the IDEA of a fan translation that's been available for years and the fanbase's accepted way of playing the game becoming the official version is a MUCH better scenario than if the company translates it themselves if you ask me. There wouldn't be comparisons between 2 translations, no character name changes, no dialogue changes, no split within the fandom, no confusion because two people played different versions, etc. I want this *ESPECIALLY* for Ace Attorney Investigations 2. The translators did a phenomenal job. It's so great that if it wasn't for the disclaimer saying it's a fan translation when you boot it, you could trick anyone into thinking this was released alongside all the DS games. A trope in all of the games is to have almost every character's name be a pun of some sort, and the translators managed to do it flawlessly, even managing to correctly translate puns that foreshadow the game's mysteries in SUCH clever ways. Right now those things are standard for anyone playing the game, but if there was a different translation, some players wouldn't get to experience this kind of super clever translating. The fan translators already perfectly emulated the quirky translations we get from capcom so we don't need another take on it, just like there aren't multiple translations of officially released games. The translation's all there, I just want them to USE it, I don't think anyone would call it lazy, we'd be grateful that it would be the game we know and love exactly as how we remember it. I'd just be awful to have "translation wars" inside a fanbase. So yes, I agree entirely with the message to buy this game just to support the idea of a fan translation becoming official to set an example for the rest of the industry. It allows the publisher to not spend as much time and money on translating, it makes the creators of the translation super proud, and pleases the fans. Everybody wins.

I'd say you did a great job on not only selling the game but giving some context and additional information for those just dropping into the series. Excellent presentation and a few memes to boot. @@Choops6969 Always happy to visit the channel when I can. For now we're just waiting on an inspection to be arranged to get the door fixed and any additional repairs needed.
I started with Sky FC around when you uploaded that video, and I've been no-life-ing it since. I'm in the middle of CS1 now :) Thanks for bringing more attention to this series, I'm REALLY liking it!
He's right about making the commitment and not regretting it after, I started with Trails in the Sky FC back in March, and have been slowly making my way through the games this year. I just beat Zero a few days ago and am now starting Azure. Who knew a very specific purple specimen would make me tear up.
This video is great! I had a lot of good laughs at the editing and the acting, but the video still gets it's point across. There's not much content like this on this platform.
My wife is halfway through SC, and wants to watch me playthrough zero. Im still really unsure if that's a good idea or not. She did watch me play through all of cold steel already, so I think the damage is already done.
finish SC first. trails the 3rd is one of my absolute favorites, but you can honestly skip it if you want to jump right into crossbell. Third fleshes out many character's backstory but none of the characters except Kevin and Reise go through any meaningful plot development in that game that's needed to know in order to get the "full" context of zero.
I've never played any Falcom game but I watched someone play through the entire Sky series (shoutsout to BigKlingy!). I feel like this game would be a perfect starting point for me in the series to actually play, knowing the story and gameplay of Sky but starting with a brand new arc. Honestly though the real reason I love that you made this video is you mentioned the game is coming out soon. That and your argument about the video game industry thing is gonna make me buy this game. Thanks Choopi!
So play skies then zero, where does cold steel fit in, and are they worth it to play as well; kinda want to play this series. And how would be able to play all of them on the fewest amount of consoles as well most modern ones.
when it comes to starting the trails series you can really start with any of the First entries. so trails of cold steel trails in the sky and trails from zero. however if your going to play the cold steel games first i would personally recommend playing the first two and save 3 and 4 for later. Don’t skip sky third chapter i heard some people have been doing that. it’s not as important as the others but if you want additional background on the Characters as well as a understanding of kevin’s backstory then don’t skip it. Overall this is what i would recommend. Sky fc -> Sky sc -> sky tc and zero ( whatever order you want ) -> azure -> all the Coldsteel games -> Reverie Can’t speak on kuro because i haven’t played it yet.
Always love your videos and streams choopmiester. Been watching you since fire emblem helped me find your channel. I don't comment much but just wanted to say it's always a fun time.
If you're almost done with Sky the 3rd, make sure you go through Star Door 15, it's pretty much the prologue to Trails from Zero. Star Door 15 is the first hint of Zero's villain, and what's going on in Crossbell. The door is not for the faint of heart, be warned.
@@BlackyRay_Patrick Star Door 15 (the prologue to Zero) is the one at the bottom of the Abyss in Gehenna (the 7th plane), and it only requires Renne to unlock, but you do have to fight through nearly 20 levels of the Abyss filled with strong fiends and three powerful demons just to get there. Star Door 14, which is an extremely important epilogue to Sky SC, and shows Campanella actually delivering the Shinning Ring to the Grandmaster is extremely grindy: you have to clear every other one of the 24 (including Star Door 15) doors in the game before it will open. However, Star Door 14 is also extremely important because its the first true indication we have of what the Grandmaster's goal is. She isn't Thanos, and she's not in this to collect all 7 sept-terrions, she's rather explicit: she wanted the shinning ring because it means the first pact no longer applies. Supposedly, that is the same pact Ragnard made with Aidios, but the mystery is why the Grandmater went through all that trouble to dissolve the pact. I do agree with you, these are both a ton of work to unlock, watch it on youtube is probably a better bet.
My favorite two games in my favorite series. Everyone, please play these games. If you only have a PS4 or Switch, Zero is not a bad way to start at all! I'm buying both games on Steam and on Switch even though I played the Geofront patched versions of both games already. This series means the absolute world to me
I haven't played 0, but if you're planning on skipping the sky trilogy for this one's sake... consider this: Trails in the Sky 1 and 2 are some of the best jrpgs I've ever played ( 3 is reaally hot aswell, but mostly because of the first 2). Because of it, I can no longer properly enjoy other jrpgs. It's upped the bar a lot for me and warped my sense of enjoyment for jrpgs For instance: I can not for the life of me completely enjoy bravely default 2, the game series that got me into jrpgs in the first place, and tokyo mirrage sessions, which I was playing a bit before jumping back to finish Trails in the sky, has become straight up unplayable for me. And even though ff9 is my favorite game, I seriously can't get myself to recommend final fantasy games to my friends anymore, or argue in favor of them like I used to. (unless we're talking music that is, Nobuo Uematsu is a god amongst men). Essentially, Trails in the sky has done to my taste for jrpgs what Dark souls did for my taste in action adventures/rpgs. Nowadays I only truly enjoy Souls and Monster Hunter. The game has to be reaaally good to get me excited. Well... about the same thing for jrpgs and trails in the sky. (I still like Dragon quest tho) If you love jrpgs play Trails in the Sky. I don't know how much better Zero is, but you shouldn't pass up on the Sky Trilogy just because there's a potentially better game on the horizon. If I told you I can give you 500 bucks now and 501 bucks a year later, you wouldn't say that you didn't want the first 500 so I could give you the 501 ASAP, would you?
whoa. heartfelt writeup. not sure i agree with your analogy at the end there, but the passion for the series is def felt. thank you for sharing your experience and I hope you have a great time with zero!
@@Choops6969 Yeah... I'm sure I could've come up with a better analogy. It sure is nice to see you branch out to trails of all things. It's also nice to know I can play my next Trails any moment now. Thx for the vid and have yourself an awesome day! :)
I just finished Cold Steel IV and I think Trails from Zero is my favourite Trails game, I started with Sky FC and I definitely agree with you. If you really cannot get yourself to play Sky and a more modern game gets you into the series, then go for it. But please try the Sky series first, it is amazing and Zero is amazing because of the build-up!! This game is the best piece of media I have ever experienced in my entire life and the series is too.
i've been thinking about playing this series since i watched a trials of coldsteel review back in the day... i still don't know if i really want to play the whole series tho
Hi choops im long viewer of your channel and i just wanna say that you are really epic. I sometimes whats up gamers we are back in the clack. So yeah you are a meme inspiration to me Thanks gamers
I completely agree, after playthrough the entire franchise in chronological order, I can confirm that my hundreds of hours time investment was indeed not regrettable. However, the only basis that I am not very fond of is suggesting Zero as a entry point. Yes we need Zero to do incredibly well, yes Zero is easily among the best the franchise has to offer along side Sky SC, Azure, Cold Steel IV, etc. BUT I can't in good conscience recommend Zero with such a amazingly emotional scene having the chance of being ruined due to a possible newcomer not being aware of the greatness and nuance Trails has to offer. A fantastic franchise regardless, and a great video as well.
Play Trails From Zero? Um, how about NO? There's a team of bad guys in the series known as Ouroboros. Nintendo invented the term Ouroboros in their seminal JRPG (the best genre) classic, Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Falcon then STOLE the term Ouroboros from Nintendo and proceeded to go all "Rian Johnson" on us by applying it to the bad guys instead of the heroes (Noah x Mio forever) just to subvert our expectations. You know what would subvert MY expectations? If companies stopped stealing from Nintendo! Who invented the D-pad? Nintendo! Who invented analog sticks? Nintendo! Who invented real video games? Nintendo! (Unless you want to call Sonic "real" video games.) I'm sick and TIRED of companies like Sony (lol), Microsoft (lmao), and Falcon (rofl) ripping off Nintendo, and I'm not going to take it anymore! I'm only going to watch Scott the Woz from now on. He GETS me. And before anyone accuses me of being some crying Nintendo fanboy, I'm not, I'm just trying to put some RESPECT on Nintendo's name. I play video games from all companies and all generations. I play modern games on my Switch. I still have my Wii U hooked up when I want that retro experience with games like Nintendo Land and Xenoblade Chronicles X. And sometimes I'll even dabble in the ancients games on the Wii, because I appreciate the classics. I have played a wide array of video games, and I've learned that Nintendo makes the best ones, and it's time everyone else knew it as well. (P.S. Here's a fun fact for my fellow hardcore gamers out there. Did you know that Super Mario Bros. 2 is actually a Japan-only game called Doki Doki Literature Club?)
mhhh did you ever look where this term ouroboros comes from? Maybe something worth looking and and rethinking your statements. But I think you wanted to make a bit fun of it, nore?
me, who started trails series with cold steel in psvita last year : ......ok.. (im on the third game now) really like the characters and the plot intertwined and related to one and another XD
I don’t own a pc or a psp. So starting with Trails From Zero seems fitting. From that to Trails To Azure, then the Cold Steel series, then finally Trails Into Reverie will do just fine n dandy.

bruh scott. i hope things go well with the repair. thank you so much for your continued support!
@@Choops6969 Always happy to visit the channel when I can. For now we're just waiting on an inspection to be arranged to get the door fixed and any additional repairs needed.
I have never seen your channel before but this video is great! Great presentation and funny! Plus your shirt is awesome!
Choops with that CHAD shirt
Great video my man but I must give a shoutout to that awesome Dawn of Ys T-shirt you have absolutely immaculate taste 👌
i got it on etsy. its good quality too!
I started with Sky FC around when you uploaded that video, and I've been no-life-ing it since. I'm in the middle of CS1 now :) Thanks for bringing more attention to this series, I'm REALLY liking it!
im so glad. sorry for the weird quality dip in cold steel. it doesn't get better.
There's not much content like this on this platform.
hey i appreciate that. try to make it memorable, fun and subvert expectations.
@@Choops6969 she will see this comment when she scrolls down 🤣
@@redwrath5 cmon man don’t out me to choops! 😂😭
@@redwrath5 if you are a nice guy you gonna wait for her to finish SC first.
@@BlackyRay_Patrick well you know what they say about nice guys.......
Looks awesome, love the graphics
the graphics own dood!
More of this pls
I just wish that the Trails in the Sky games were avaliable on more platforms, I like the PC but prefer to play on consoles
same. same. i switched to evo versions after FC.
As a skoomer I always say start with sky, not because its the first, but because its the best
Trails in the Sky the 3rd changed me
I've never played any Falcom game but I watched someone play through the entire Sky series (shoutsout to BigKlingy!).
Another Certified ChoopiChoosi banger, always a treat whenever one of these pops up on my TL. Great Work!
This editing is always top tier 🤌
So play skies then zero, where does cold steel fit in, and are they worth it to play as well; kinda want to play this series. And how would be able to play all of them on the fewest amount of consoles as well most modern ones.
play on PC as the sky trilogy are only available in English on PC. cold steel takes place (mostly) after the two crossbell games (zero and azure).
@@Choops6969 thanks Choopie!!!!
i love your videos. i've never heard about these games but the part about the fan translators was very wholesome and cool
Thank you for exposing me as a self-gatekeeper.
Thanks for this video mate! I may buy trails from zero, but I still want to enjoy the series from beginning to end to have the whole experience!
eeeeyyy that's what I like to hear.
@@Choops6969 💪🏻
As a big Trails fan, you just made the best choice
when it comes to starting the trails series you can really start with any of the First entries. so trails of cold steel trails in the sky and trails from zero. however if your going to play the cold steel games first i would personally recommend playing the first two and save 3 and 4 for later. Don’t skip sky third chapter i heard some people have been doing that. it’s not as important as the others but if you want additional background on the Characters as well as a understanding of kevin’s backstory then don’t skip it. Overall this is what i would recommend.
Sky fc -> Sky sc -> sky tc and zero ( whatever order you want ) -> azure -> all the Coldsteel games -> Reverie
Can’t speak on kuro because i haven’t played it yet.
Definitely interested to try if I had an ounce of free time
Always love your videos and streams choopmiester. Been watching you since fire emblem helped me find your channel. I don't comment much but just wanted to say it's always a fun time.
thank u for the support either way!
I'm almost done with Trails in the Sky the 3rd. Can't wait for Zero!
If you're almost done with Sky the 3rd, make sure you go through Star Door 15, it's pretty much the prologue to Trails from Zero. Star Door 15 is the first hint of Zero's villain, and what's going on in Crossbell. The door is not for the faint of heart, be warned.
@@SuperSupersoda So I've heard. Thanks for the tip!
@@SuperSupersoda and if you arent able to open the door (takes a lot of grind if I remember right) watch the video at least.
@@SuperSupersoda ah ok than it was staar door 14 i wasnt able to unlock.
Where can I watch your live playthrough of the trails series?
my main youtube page has my complete playthrough of fc.
I starter from CS1 and worked from CS1-4. then Zero to Azure, to the Sky Trilogy, then finally Reverie with Daybreak coming out next month
I know nothing about these games, but you have convinced me to try them out eventually
do it. u wont
Another awesome video with amazing editing. Also, everyone should start with Sky FC, it is very much worth it. I'm not an elitist I'm a realist.
Playing Sky SC (blind) on hard difficulty was powerful, and seeing aspects of it and Sky 3rd paid off in Zero and Ao literally made me cry at times.
My favorite two games in my favorite series. Everyone, please play these games. If you only have a PS4 or Switch, Zero is not a bad way to start at all! I'm buying both games on Steam and on Switch even though I played the Geofront patched versions of both games already. This series means the absolute world to me
"An entertainment producer from Calvard. I want her to step on me" *LMFAO*
I haven't played 0, but if you're planning on skipping the sky trilogy for this one's sake... consider this:
Trails in the Sky 1 and 2 are some of the best jrpgs I've ever played ( 3 is reaally hot aswell, but mostly because of the first 2).
(I still like Dragon quest tho)
If you love jrpgs play Trails in the Sky.
Trails in the Sky really did ruin other JRPGs for me; the writing is on another level.
@@Robstafarian Absolutely. There is nothing that compares
I came here to see if I can start with this game but also whoever edited this video is top tier 👨🏻🍳🤌🏻💕
thank you!
i've been thinking about playing this series since i watched a trials of coldsteel review back in the day... i still don't know if i really want to play the whole series tho
just start with one game. And than decide ;)
I'm a basement-dwelling gamer and this video has convinced me to try the whole series. Thanks, Choopi.
Hi choops im long viewer of your channel and i just wanna say that you are really epic. I sometimes whats up gamers we are back in the clack.
So yeah you are a meme inspiration to me
Thanks gamers
some pc engine cd love right there. kickass dawn of ys shirt (better than memories of celceta btw) choops
2 is actually a Japan-only game called Doki Doki Literature Club?)
lmao
damn this guy makes some good points. we're all living a lie.
Babe wake up new copypasta dropped
mhhh did you ever look where this term ouroboros comes from?
Maybe something worth looking and and rethinking your statements.
But I think you wanted to make a bit fun of it, nore?
pizza bagel
ur a crying nintendo fanboy
me, who started trails series with cold steel in psvita last year :
......ok..
(im on the third game now)
really like the characters and the plot intertwined and related to one and another XD
its really cool and unlike anything else I've ever experiencedyeah. and i feel they do it in a very sincere way- if that makes sense.
But do I have to play the entirety of the trails of cold steel series?
no. those take place after.
mfw choop doesn't clack
I don’t own a pc or a psp. So starting with Trails From Zero seems fitting. From that to Trails To Azure, then the Cold Steel series, then finally Trails Into Reverie will do just fine n dandy.
