You skipped over the best feature, the resample... where it halves it and halves it again and again and you end up with really cool gritty samples.

This was my first sampler. Simple to use but did not have a real sequencer. Reflecting on its release, I feel Akai designed it to make it look like it was part of the MPC series, as an elusive attempt to lure novice producers like myself at the time to buy it.Never the less still a great piece of gear!

Might it have been a formatting issue with that sample that wouldn't load? Had that happen to me a few times w Akai stuff! Thanks for the vid, had never heard of this sampler.

Could be a format issue, some floppies are so unreliable might be time for a gotek emulator

I was hoping to get a recommendation on which floppy emulator to get, because I know some of them don't work with this.
