  • "BuY A ToYOtA CroSS" - well, actually, maybe...
    The Nissan Qashqai is here, but it comes at a (literal) cost. It's one of THE MOST COMPETENT small-midsize family SUV's out there, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's the best... Today we will go through a comprehensive exterior, interior, driving and performance testing tour of the 2024 Nissan Qashqai to see how it compares with its No.1 rival - the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross. Let's review it!

    Great review as always guys! I hired one of these earlier this year and drove it from Amsterdam to Stockholm and back about 4500km and absolutely loved it. Never felt short on power with all the highway merging and overtaking. Definitely can recommend. Never been a fan of stop/start. I always switch it off.

    We just bought a '23 MY'24 Qashqai Ti nearly 4 weeks ago in regional NSW and already put close to 2,000 kms on it. We looked at the Toyota Carolla Cross, good but too long a wait and dead set ugly, VW T-ROC R, nice to drive, lots of goodies but no real space in the rear seats for our tall children, Skoda Karoq, nice car all round but to bring up all the goodies my wife wanted we'd be in for $60+K. Went and looked at the 2023/24 Qashqai Ti, coming from a 3.0 ltr Jeep turbo diesel, which we loved to this 1.3 litre turbo, we were completely surprised as to the performance of this vehicle. Even without putting it into 'Sports' mode the Qashqai has plenty of poke for passing and a lot of get-up-and-go, it is extremely quiet, has good road handling, great stopping, it was drizzling the other day and I warned my wife I was going to do a hard brake test, so at about 90 kph I planted my foot on the brake, stopped dead straight, no hassle or fade. The fuel economy at the moment is averaging 6.3 l/ph so that is impressive, its only problem is learning all of the dashboard electronics. All up the drive-away price with a tow bar etc $53K, Our Jeep cost in 2014 $62K and in 2005 our Kluger was $55K, so the $53K wasn't too bad.

    I have the 2023 ST-L. I agree with everything you've said. Its fantastic, and its very quick around town when you're doing under 80, but, I would certainly love a little more power & not a CVT. Its also pretty good for an SUV on the twisties.

    @carsauce How would you compare the interior and exterior to the Kia Sportage?

  • @robertallen1885

    I've got a brand new Quashquai but I will not buy another. Everytime you start the car you have to accept or decline a disclaimer which is incredibly annoying and dangerous as half the time you are already driving. I have spoken with the dealer and this can't be removed.

    • @robeast1811
      @robeast1811 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, it is a bit annoying but we had the same in our Jeep GC, my daughter's 2015 Suzuki SX-4 has it and it takes a while to get rid of it. This one is pretty good as you only have to tap it. i think it is mandatory in all vehicles that have electronic dashboards.

    Looks nice the only reason why I wouldn't purchase this car is the CVT! .

  • @ashroshan5270

    Needs a 1.6 litre turbo and a proper automatic transmission. The CVT takes the joy out of the driving experience.

      It's CVT is as good as my other vehicle, a 2011 Mercedes B200 Turbo, you can get great driver satisfaction out of the CVT by using the gear paddles.

  • @Vikturus22
    @Vikturus22 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    The big gotcha is 100% the crap engine and cvt. Far too small of an engine, if it had a normal 2.0 turbo (hell even a 1.8 turbo) and a proper 6 speed automatic, it would be so much better!

    • @twentyonepointfour
      @twentyonepointfour 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Have you test drove it? No point having a bigger engine if the car is too heavy. The engine in qashqai is more efficient than conventional ones.

    I have the same AC problem in my X-trail, which uses the same AC system and interface. On mild days (like 20 - 22C) where the interior can get quite a bit warmer than ambient, setting the AC to 20 or 21 will blow warm air! I brought this up to Nissan and they just told me it's working as expected. It's ridiculous, never had this issue in my other cars with climate control. The technology is so old that it's surprising that Nissan got it wrong!

    Dudd when is the mazda cx30 review coming??

  • @damieg82
    @damieg82 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    9:51 250NM is not 331 ft/lb ... the math isn't mathing. Also 6:50 if it's blowing warm air, then most likely it's because the ac button was not in the on position. In cars with a separate ac button, it has to be on to get cold air. Setting a low temperature selection typically does not automatically set the ac button to "on". Once on, the system then adjusts how much cold air (if any at all) to blow based on the temperature you've set.

    • @aygeeninty771
      @aygeeninty771 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I made this decision last week for a car I bought for mum. Ordered a Honda ZRV LX 1.5 in the pearl white. The Nissan is in stock and better looking on the outside but I preferred the Honda to drive, interior and rear seat room. But also the way cheaper servicing and I'd imagine reliability and resale in a few from now.

      @Fally875 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @aygeeninty771 yeah my dad said honda. I have a jazz that's lasted 17 years so I know it's reliable. Everything in it seems a bit more superior.

    Owning a late MY2022. I don’t see any visual upgrades from the MY 2022/2023 🤔. And tbh the Bose sound system can be opted out for, it Doesn’t justify the extra cost.

    The lower trims of this car make you hate the fact you didnt spend on the full fat version, but that is generally how Nissan rolls. Honestly if the slightly smaller boot isnt a issue, get a Jolion or H6(because this car is just that expensive that you can go a segment up for the price of the top spec).

    Surprised we don’t get the redesigned versions in Canada as it has been discontinued. The 23 and previous years are total P.O.S’s compared to this

    made in uk but brand spankers new are10-15% more expensive in blighty ??????????????? even a 25,000 kilometer, one owner 2 yrs old with just over a yrs manufacturer warranty remaining arnt that much less// typical example, a average milage.1.3 auto box, one owner equivalent to the OZ one that has a glass roof ( the uk connecta 2nd after base spec has glass option) are up for sale in your oz MONEY @ 41,000 dollars . design wise rear diffuser looks like a transport rear damage protector for being shipped, really does . Must have gone for tea break and forgot , tut tut . rest of shape is nicely designed
