I still think that there should be fireflies in the game. Ambient mobs are something that we really need more of in Minecraft
I thought this entire update would be more about improving the ambiance of the game, stuff like that really adds to the experience so i hope they do add them!
Much like bats. They have no purpose in the game, but caves do feel a bit empty when they're absent

I do admit that not adding fireflies because they are harmful to frogs is kinda weird but definitely not going to make me stop playing the game
Wait, so are we not getting fireflies at all? Even if we can't feed them to frogs, they would be a nice addition. Maybe they could be trapped in a bottle or a lantern for a new, living light source! It would be so cool to see a new passive bug being added, especially one that could glow!

We are still getting fireflies thankfully. Really love the idea of a firefly latern.
Honestly, instead of having frogs eat magma to make a new light source block (which makes no sense as opposed to having to let them eat fireflies), I would rather prefer firefly lanterns where you can catch fireflies and store them in a jar as a new light source.

I feel like they still haven’t fully clarified if fireflies are still going to be added or not. Looking at how the Wild update is getting close to finished, it seems unlikely, unless they decide to pull a Piglin Brute type move.
They are 2 pixels what do you expect, 2 years for 2 pixels?

I feel like this is a BIG missed opportunity to add poisonous dart frogs to jungles and when right clicking them with and arrow make them poisonous arrows.

That ending was genuinely terrifying-
There are so few ambient mobs & animals in the game, I can't believe they seem to be cutting fireflies...it seems mad when you see the incredible community mods that can add entire zoos worth of animals to the game, making it feel so much more alive than vanilla. The game is too empty, been really hoping the Wild update can help fix that!

Idk why they couldn't otherwise have made the fireflies like regular flies instead.
That would have filled the empty areas with life and keept what we wanted as we wanted.
And also be the source of food to the frogs as it were suposed to be

Maybe the fireflies could be a light source that, initially, are completely random. But then you get a glass bottle or a lantern, catch them, and you now have a different colored light that you can now control and place!
Also kinda sad we didn't get poison dart frogs in the jungle. At the very least, it would've been nice to get another mob type in there
Yeah like come on, is a two pixel firefly really that hard to add? They already pushed a lot of things (goat horns, bundles, jars, archaeology, etc.), including it isn't that hard, even just for the ambience.

@@monelmonelmonel They still need to figure out if it is just a particle effect or mob. If they went for mob, making them spawn too much will cause reduced performance and if they go for particles, you cannot interact with it.

fireflies HAVE to be in minecraft , they'll make swamp biome milion times better , and maybe not only that / imagine fireflies appearing after a rain or storm

The oceans with their tons of fish pathfinding and lots of friendly animals in my pen pathfinding are not making my game lag enough, we need those fireflies so my game can finally become unplayable!

@@hw2007its not technically animal abuse if you at least take care of them. like from time to time they began to starve and the light they emit will start to become dim. so if you feed them with worms "idea for firefly food: worms can be found in dirt, mud,rooted mud and rooted dirt if you right click it with either glass bottle or bowl. the light level increase the more you feed the fireflies. fireflies eat worms actually irl along with slugs and snails, but worm is the best idea since you dont have to make a mob. just scoop the dirt and have worms"
@@hw2007 but that does means you have to feed them every 20-25 minutes before the light from their end will become dim. on the bright side, as long as you have dirt block and a bowl, you may have an infinite source of worms.
it may be disgusting but at least thats something for the fireflies to have purpose

@@Shetty404 well its not really the 2 pixels that lag your potato, but its the amount of entities, and afew fireflys isnt really enough to give you the atmosphere and feel so you'd need alot of them, thats why i think if they would add them, then it would be as a particle effect

Yea they don’t want to add them because they are hostile which is dumb sense in real life they are neutral and only attack when provoked because I was kayaking in a cypress swamp there with many of them and I’m still alive lol it’s weird how they added polar bears but not gators/crocodiles

@@_marshP dang same i burnt the entire forest around my base ( located on top of a mountain) to get some plain area and it looks way better now that i have made my custom jungle
+ i just travel using elytra as im in my late games

They updated the birch forest a bit they made some of the trees taller but that's all we got for now

I don't get why they changed the firefly thing. While yes some fireflies are toxic frogs have evolved to be able to eat them despite it meaning frogs still eat them and it doesn't harm them
The last paragraph makes almost no sense. They removed the frog eating firefly mechanic, because of current research. Fireflies are still toxic to frogs. Also punctuate your sentence.

Mojang's policy of protecting wildlife is a curse that we can't get rid of
Considering they were kinda hipocrits by adding polar bears a animal who is definitely hostile in the real world , im pretty sure they only care about cute marketable animals when choosing which to add, crocodile are actually rather passive if left alone. But yeah they seem to just use the policy as an excuse to ignore animals they don't find marketable
