Spend Time, Save Money, DIY cutting the mitre to use as a guide for the scribe! Genius! I held one board against the other and drew on it for my template, bit rough!
I live in an old house which I’ve just lined outside walls with insulated plasterboard, so I’ve had some piecing up those walls with new cove. It’s typically not as deep as the original stuff so it’s just a case of making the best of it. Great video tho, as usual. Keep them coming
Have watched loads of videos trying to show how to fit coving and this video is by far the best with good instructions, I’m assuming that was a lightweight plastic coving, can Gyproc plaster coving also be cut with a mitre saw with success. Of course there is a small issue that most internal/external corners are not exactly 90 degrees but that’s another story 👍
I always wondered how you keep the same angle every time you mate a cut and now I know about making that pencil line! Cheers rob!.......will get round to giving it a go one of these days

Wasn’t aware you could use a chop saw for coving, and it looks like it does a nice & clean cut with no sanding to do after. I’ve always used a mitre block & handsaw which do a decent job but your way is better for sure.
Mitre Saw is definitely the way to go! I really struggle to get accurate cuts with other methods,, and have to waste time using filler to get a reasonable result...
That coving definitely has an non symmetrical profile, the ceiling edge is thinner than the wall edge. At 14:52 you can see the difference in thickness.

Apologies for the newbie question, but if I have a ceiling that has been artexed. Do I just fit it the same way, or would I have to get the ceiling flat before fitting the coving? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks!
I have fitted coving to many ceilings with textured artex. I just use a bit more adhesive on the ceiling and it takes a bit more to fill the gaps because of the texture but it's fine to do. Hope this helps and don't forget to subscribe 👍🏼

Honest answer, get a spark to move them lower. I've seen people try to cut around them and it just doesn't work. It's a simple job for an electrician and even easier if it's a stud wall

how long did it take you to do all of that mate, i have to tie into coving on two ends then around a window bay. so 2 externals, 2 internals, and tying into 2 internals if you follow. cheers mate
Is this plaster coving? Or polystyrene type ?...I have the exact same type of adhesive you are using, but just want to make sure that it will be strong enough for the plaster coving I am using. Great vids!
Scott Thomson this is actually polymer coving and really lightweight. I have used that adhesive for plaster coving and as long as you use nails to support it until it's dried it will be fine. @@mongychops68 Because the saw he is using is only adjustable in one plane, to cut it how it is installed in the room you'd have to have the coving ceiling side floating above the saw bed in mid air.

Have learnt a lot! Is there any reason why on the internal corners just one could be mitred and slide over the other straight cut?
To do it that way would require a curved cut to match the incoming piece to the straight , fixed piece, very awkward to do.
Should I mark the mitre box with a pencil like you did with your saw fence to get an accurate cut?
