  • Estimates of up to 75 new towers could be built in the city of Pickering if approved. Mark McAllister speaks to those who say it's been a long time coming and others who are concerned that it's too much.

People need a place to live and we are in a housing crisis! NIMBY's, stop getting in way of progress and development because this is turning into a human rights issue and you're exacerbating the housing crisis.

Thats what Liberals do. They oppose all developments and then cry about affordability.

With all this development of towers and people coming to the east
Maybe Pickering will get the international airport to serve the people as well

everyone wants to fix problems until your neighborhood is the fix

Problem is these new units are sometimes unaffordable. Take a look at the proposal at Rougemount and Kingston which are rumored to start near 1MM. The cost per square footage is above detached properties in the same area.

The more supply we have the more the prices will stabilize. In the long term this is definitely a WIN

I’m not anti build but I do think the developers should be on the hook to pay for schools. All these buildings and the only new school planned to be built in all of Durham is in north Oshawa

Build all these towers/condos that almost nobody can afford. Absolutely genius!

It’s actually good when they’re building more home so in the future we will have oversupply and this can actually help to bring downs the prices, hopefully…

so your solution to the housing crisis is to stop building housing????

Building single family housing will make the housing crisis worse though

Alastair Taylor like all other Canadians need to make better voting decisions. Voting for your own benefits leads to problems like this. Another family fully subsidized will soon live in his home.

Single family homes are subsidized, they take more tax dollars to provide services for than they pay in taxes
