  • See this question asked a lot in the riddim group on Facebook, “playing my first show how do I use CDJS” this tutorial isn’t all inclusive but should give you a general idea of how simple it is to use CDJS.

    Beat gridding properly is something that I use to the fullest. Im a 16 year veteran and I play all the new new out there all day. Make sure your nerding out on your rekordbox program. Make sure to beat grid properly so that everythjng lines up perfectly. You can do this from the cdj it self. Or you can do it in the program. There are videos out there that can help you learn this. Which is how I learned how to do it. But this to me is very important. Also if you use beat sync. Which doesn’t just help keep the bpm the same. If your beat grid is done properly you can use beat sync to keep the beat synced together so that you don’t have to jog it so much and you can focus on cuts, chopping, effects and combo effects with cuts and chopping. Whether your using the channel filters or the effects.

    So for riddim you line up the downbeat and snare but for standard dubstep like say 140 you mix both downbeats together?

      The ability to beatmatch over letting a program do it for you stigma

    • @AKA.SV9
      @AKA.SV9 ปีที่แล้ว

      its like riding a bike. sync is like riding a tricycle, why do that when the whole point of riding a bike is for you to learn how to balance on it. try getting on a tricycle and telling people you are good at riding a bike. stick to sync button and tell ppl that you know how to dj. smh

    What dj controller do you use? which one do you think i should buy as a starter, budget is like 300/400 euro

    • @pkikiti8295
      @pkikiti8295 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ezjeboy buy the Xdj-rx It’s a bit more than your budget but just save up and buy that one it’s an all in one controller all you need is some USB sticks and your good to go and it’s pretty much the closest thing to playing on real cdjs

    How many bars are dubstep/riddim drops 16? 32?

    • @aerobicpanther
      @aerobicpanther 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on the song. I would say most riddim has longer drops than typical dubstep. Example, the yasuo remix by Ivory drop is 66 bars. I'm also pretty sure that I've heard an 8 bar dubstep drop but I can't remember the name of the song. The longer riddim drop allow for longer chopping without having to skip to the next drop or mix in a new song. If your interested in seeing info like that on songs, you should download rekordbox and put your music in there. It should analyze most songs correctly and show you bar and beat counts.

    • @electrify800
      @electrify800 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it has 16

    • @deathadderdubz1114
      @deathadderdubz1114  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      most amateurs producers make their intros about 0:27 (at 140bpm), which is 16 bars, a lot of old dubstep was notorious for dropping at 0:55 (at 140bpm) which is 32 bars. most professional releases nowadays are 32.

      if u use the sync button it means ur a bad dj and dont know the basics or djing. every dj knows how to beatmatch

    • @j4keweb
      @j4keweb 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      animation and the rest i know how to beatmatch like the back of my hand thats why i use the button, im not in the learning stages so i dont need to spend extra time beatmatching every single track...
