I sat in on a Mackinnon and Saunders talk once (the people who made the puppets) and for this movie the characters didn’t have replaceable faces, they had MECHANISMS UNDER THE RUBBER SKIN adjusted by tiny tools through little holes and the mechanisms mimicked certain joints and muscles. That is INSANE detail! Apparently Emily was the hardest one to make and to handle because not only was she delicate, but the dress itself required an armature and rigging for how much it flows and ripples. Victor was one of the ones on display at the talk and he was gorgeous 😀 the puppet is surprisingly tall.
Corpse bride is a very unique film as it shows the complications of marriage and has one of the greatest quotes: "Can a heart still break once it's stopped beating?" *A rumor to which can NEVER be answered*
Someone pointed out that Victoria was like a mirror reflection of Victor while Emily was everything he wasn't. That's why it could've worked either way, whomever he married it would've been a happy marriage. Victoria's shy, basically never known love from her overly controlling parents, and struggles to fit in with the expectations they have of her. She was first attracted to Victor because of his piano playing because music was banned from her life and we can see from their first meeting and from their wedding rehearsal that while others are annoyed and irritated by his nervousness and clumsiness Victoria would be patient and supportive of him. Plus throughout the storyline they both learn to stand up for themselves. Emily on the other hand plays piano like him so they share the same passions and unlike him is carefree, spirited, has a good sense of humour and effortlessly charming so she'd be good at bringing him out of his shell. I think she has known that to some degree this couldn't work but she was so focused on how she'd been denied her happiness that she kept convincing herself that this was meant to be. But she made the right choice the end - no-one's denying that what happened to her wasn't fair, but the point is that it happened and it can't be undone, and she can't get her happiness back if it comes at the expense of anothers.
I actually felt he loved both emily and victoria which is why I also felt either choice he made would be a good one for him, but I am glad that emily was able to be set free in the end and finally be happy.

It might be just me but I think Victor not ending up with Emily was the right thing… Victor seemed like he felt pressured into marrying her (when he found out Victoria was marrying someone else) and Emily deserved someone who really loved her
Not just you. I agree: it WAS the right thing. Emily realized it, that’s why she let him go. It wasn’t that Victor felt pressured into it- she already said she could never ask him to die for her. It was that he felt pity for all she had been through, and recognized that she was an amazing person who deserved better. So even though he was not in love with her, he still cared about her; and since he now could no longer hope to marry Victoria, because she had just been married to someone else... he figured he’d do it- why not?
@@georgianash6635 Emily truly is a beautiful soul; but it is hurtful how much disrespect and even hate Victoria often gets for Not Being Emily. I think she is just as beautiful, in her own way, only she gets much less recognition for it. They *_BOTH_* deserve a happy ending.
I’ll die on this hill. ANIMATION DOESN’T MEAN IT WAS MADE FOR KIDS. Films like these are made to be a reasonable level of family-friendly, but aren’t aimed solely at children so a lot of the time slightly more grown-up jokes are thrown in that kids won’t get. The “I don’t give a damn” part was a reference to another movie, so they probably got away with it with the I think PG rating the movie already has, primarily because there were fears it would be too scary for younger audiences.
Fate Worse than Death: Barkis, after unwittingly drinking poison, is now one of the dead, which conveniently removes the restriction that the dead cannot harm the living. An angry mob drags him off as he screams. *Made worse in that we never really do find out what they do to him.*
As a child Tim Burton's animation style and his stories were scary and even overwhelming. I have learned to appreciate it as an adult because from learning different things about Tim Burton as a storyteller and an artist, it tells children who might be a little strange and off-putting that they are not alone. His films, even aimed at children, deal with issues children might be feeling. as someone who was strange and off-putting, albeit in a very different way, and I deeply admire Tim Burton and his craft.
I was literally going to suggest this movie next but you’ve already uploaded it lol. Next pick for me would have to be Monster House. They filmed it by using motion censors and it’s pretty terrifying. Definitely recommend it #Bingers
Yeeeeeeees Crimson Peak! Actually all three... though Sweeney Todd is ultimately just uber depressing (and while I love 99.999 percent of Helena Bonham Carter, her voice is not strong enough for musical performance), but in a well done way!
The Corpse Bride is the epitome of "he's just not that into you sis" although I still have to watch it every Spooky Season because it's nostalgic to me😭❤️💀💀
The songs are written by Danny Elfman and he does a lot of music scores for Tim Burton movies. They are one of the most celebrated Director/Composer duos in the history of cinema.. Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, Batman and Batman Returns, Edward Scissorhands , The Nightmare Before Christmas, Sleepy Hollow, Mars Attacks!, Planet of the Apes, Big Fish, Corpse Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland Dark Shadows, Frankenweenie, Big Eyes, Miss Peregrine;s Home for Peculiar Children and Dumbo.
The ironic part of the arranged marriage thing is that the vow sounds so romantic but there's no romance in an arranged marriage so that's the ironic part.
If you haven't seen it already, you should watch Cabin in the Woods. It is such a good movie! It's scary but also plays with the conventions of horror/thriller movies in a comedic way! #bingers
Mr. Bonejangles was sung by Danny Elfman himself. They had so many people audition for the part, but no one was quite right, so Danny finally just went, "Fuck it, I'll do it."
I mean, that’s basically how he ended up singing for Jack too! He was so protective of that character that he more or less said “ITS ME AND ONLY ME, BITCHES” 😂
@@videohistory722 Ha 3 years later! I’ve actually read/heard the opposite…that Chris was cast first, but they couldn’t find a singing voice to match. Either way, we got greatness!
This is my favorite movie ever! Honestly the fact that people even want Emily and Victor to be together irritates me because in my opinion they missed the point of the story. Yes Emily did give Victor up but if you remember her sole purpose her dream after she died was to be set free. Marriage was just a fallacy of a missed out dream when she was alive. I completely believe that this story follows a lesson for both Victor and Emily. For Emily she learned to let go of her past and her missed out dreams. She learned freedom is something you can give to yourself rather than seek it out in other people. As for Victor, he learned what true sacrifice is and what it means to love someone unconditionally. He learned the importance of cherishing every moment and it was all thanks to Emily. Victor was giving up what many deem the most valuable his life, and let’s be frank it wasn’t because he loved Emily or in my opinion because Victoria was marrying someone else. It was because he knew Emily would never ask him to sacrifice his life to be with her. And in that moment he saw a humanity within her. A heartbreak. And Victor chose to make the ultimate sacrifice to give Emily what she believed was her dream. While I believe Victorias marriage to the devil (I refuse to name him) played a part. To me it wasn’t as significant as Victor wanting to make that sacrifice for Emily. In the end both of them learned valuable lessons. And Emily was able to find peace while Victor was able to find love.
I think that movie's more about closure than anything else Emily had to get closure for her life and her death. Victor and Victoria were just along for the ride.
Really looking forward to watching this commentary reaction! I have seen this movie a couple of times. But it's been awhile. I highly recommend the 1995 movie "Casper". #Bingers

Real quick: you know the tradition about it being bad luck for the bride and groom to see each other before the ceremony on their wedding day? It goes all the way back to arranged marriages like this one, when the norm was the bride and groom literally weren’t allowed to even meet each other before the ceremony. The beliefs was if they did, they would back out.
I’m so happy you reacted to this movie!! I absolutely love this movie and have loved it since I was a child. My favorite part has always been when the corpse bride (Emily) turns into blue butterflies at the end, that scene spoke to me as a kid and it still does, very memorable.
You need to end the month with a nightmare before Christmas. Perfect shift and combination between spooky halloween and christmas!!!!!!! Also have you watched tangled yet??
I love the little kid in the scene where the dead of the town have risen. Any other movie would have had that kid screaming. In a Tim Burton movie? "Grandpa?!" *hugs*
something I wanna point out real quick that I think is an interesting detail: when Victor "proposes" he puts the ring on her index finger instead of her ring finger. idk why that always make me laugh cause you know....it wasn't the right finger.

DIE DIE WE ALL PASS AWAY 😭😂✊️ this is one of the greatest movies ever made with a soundtrack that SLAPS at every point of the way. Not a single song I don't love, and the dead people are all so fun. Love how the dead are so dynamic in this movie and it's the living people who are dull and grey and feel almost held back by the state of being alive, the dead people are quite literally free from the stiff, boring, uptight society the living are bound by. Clever stuff!

One of my favorite things about this movie (and I love this movie) is that the original DVD had a mode where you could just play all the music from start to finish, no dialog and no lyrics (I think), from start to finish and it was BEAUTIFUL. I got so much creative work done with that in the background.
This is THE film of my childhood I used to watch it over and over again. I still remember the first time the I watched it tho and I couldn't stop crying because Emily came apart in butterflies. Right after finishing the movie I went up the stairs to my mother, me still crying so hard, and she comforted me. :'))
This is one of my favorite movies so much so that I got a tattoo for it. I didn’t want the characters or something that would explicitly show it, so I got the flowers from Emily’s bouquet - “roses, lilies, baby’s breath” - and have that on my arm. One of my favorite tattoos and the one that represents setting yourself free independent from anyone else. Literally love this movie
11:05 - Except, Emily really IS quite lovely. Especially for a corpse. Only.. she's, you know, dead. 14:04 - Ohhhh yes, he's hurt alright-- he's crushed. AND he also likes and cares about Emily enough to want to try and help make her happy-- now that he can no longer hope for the one he really wants. He has no pressing reason to get back for anymore, and he's sorry for her, so why not?

Legend of Sleepy Hollow - meaning the short Disney movie from the 40s that was originally released as a 2-in-1 movie with their adaption of The Wind in the Willows called 'Ichabod and Mr Toad' (though I guess we should also be recommending the Tim Burton movie 'Sleepy Hollow' even though that changes a lot - both the storyline and Ichabod Crane's general character and the question over whether or not he could actually be called a good man).
Tim Burton isn't to everyone's taste. In my experience, people either love him or hate him. I, personally, haven't watched anything of his I didn't like. I just find it impossible to think of his work negatively. That said, I haven't watched all of his stuff.

Look at Billy stepping up his vocab game 👏🏾👏🏾
th-cam.com/video/cfnPJW1cbYg/w-d-xo.html
I had to Google it. 🤣
It doesn't quite work the way he's using it but I'm proud of him for popping out that thesaurus
I've always loved the foreshadowing in the opening. Victor drawing a beautiful butterfly during the opening music only to release it from it's cage. Emily, now released, turns into a plethora of the same butterfly. Beautiful detail!
#Bingers, I think Rise of the Gaurdians is extremely underrated in my opinion, it was one of my favourites back when I was a kid and it need more recognition. I really want to see you react to it.
YES! YES! YES! Rise of the Guardians’- pleeease....?
--Also would love to see your reaction to ‘Hoodwinked’, if you get the chance. Maybe not the absolute best movie ever made, but a really fun watch, and I think you’d enjoy it. #bingers
EXTREMELY UNDERRATED!
It might be just me but I think Victor not ending up with Emily was the right thing… Victor seemed like he felt pressured into marrying her (when he found out Victoria was marrying someone else) and Emily deserved someone who really loved her
I love Emily though shes such a beautiful soul
Not just you. I agree: it WAS the right thing. Emily realized it, that’s why she let him go.
It wasn’t that Victor felt pressured into it- she already said she could never ask him to die for her. It was that he felt pity for all she had been through, and recognized that she was an amazing person who deserved better. So even though he was not in love with her, he still cared about her; and since he now could no longer hope to marry Victoria, because she had just been married to someone else... he figured he’d do it- why not?
@@georgianash6635
Emily truly is a beautiful soul; but it is hurtful how much disrespect and even hate Victoria often gets for Not Being Emily. I think she is just as beautiful, in her own way, only she gets much less recognition for it.
They *_BOTH_* deserve a happy ending.
@@StoryMing i very much agree with you
I cried when I first watched it. I truly hope she finds someone who truly loves her😪
I’ll die on this hill.
*Emily rises from the grave*
Billy: "OHHHH I did not see that coming"
...
Billy did you not see the title of this movie lol
I forgot 😂
Fate Worse than Death: Barkis, after unwittingly drinking poison, is now one of the dead, which conveniently removes the restriction that the dead cannot harm the living. An angry mob drags him off as he screams. *Made worse in that we never really do find out what they do to him.*
I absolutely love the almost gleeful "New arrival." as they close the door and drag him away.
I've been wondering what it is they could actually do to him.
UGH YES!!! One of my favorite Halloween movies!
YES! That's an excellent one!
#bingerz
Crimson Peak, Sweeney Todd & Sleepy Hollow are all great Halloween movies. All a must-watch! #bingers
I second Sweeney Todd! #bingers
Yeeeeeeees Crimson Peak! Actually all three... though Sweeney Todd is ultimately just uber depressing (and while I love 99.999 percent of Helena Bonham Carter, her voice is not strong enough for musical performance), but in a well done way!
Also Phantom of the Opera and/or Love Never Dies but that can be after Halloween as they both are gothic romance #bingers
I LOVE Sleppy Hollow!
Agreed! All of these are amazing recommendations
The Corpse Bride is the epitome of "he's just not that into you sis" although I still have to watch it every Spooky Season because it's nostalgic to me😭❤️💀💀
Have you ever seen Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Highly recommend it if you haven’t!
#Bingers
Yessssss
I finally saw this movie for the very first time a year ago or so…ITS WILD, LIKE WHAT
oou yes! I agree with that
YES!
This is literally my comfort movie
You have no idea how happy I am right now 😁😁😁
The ironic part of the arranged marriage thing is that the vow sounds so romantic but there's no romance in an arranged marriage so that's the ironic part.
If you haven't seen it already, you should watch Cabin in the Woods. It is such a good movie! It's scary but also plays with the conventions of horror/thriller movies in a comedic way! #bingers
This!
Idk if you done it already but you should do the Nightmare Before Christmas (for thos month or december)
I agree
@@jenniferhiemstra5228 he was supposed to be talking for Jack too, but he wasn't so great at it
@@videohistory722 Ha 3 years later!
#Bingers
Omg yes! I love Casper
I busted out laughing when Billy said "Her head is shaped like a yam, & has the hairstyle of a push pop" 💀😆
How can you dislike smiling when you have such a gorgeous smile that brightens up others days.great commentary on this movie,#bingers " Nightmare before Christmas " please.
2:25 Yep. Victor Van Dort's family are fish merchants who made a fortune and now want to get into high society, Victoria Everglot's family are centuries old aristocracy who are broke. Victor and Victoria get married, his family gets into high society, her family escape the embarrassment of being poor.
Danny Elfman is an incredible composer! He also voiced Bone Jangles for that first song in the Land of the Dead ;)
THIS IS SUCH A GOOD MOVIE!!!
Day I cant remember of asking for the Mummy with Brendan Frasier. #bingers
That "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn." is a reference to one of the first big movies, Gone With The Wind.
I'm gonna say it again the editing on this was phenomenal. It made things like 10 times more funny and they were already funny! Another great reaction, hopefully this one doesn't get got for the music. They evil for staying on you with that copyright mess, it's not even like you play the whole songs.
Thanks lexy.. I try to ad alil of my personality within the edits or what grows through my mind while I’m editing 😂 but yes the labels don’t play about their music 🤦🏾♂️
You should do another animated movie called Monster House. That’s an interesting movie to watch.
the nostalgia!! monster house is such a classic
I support the Monster House lobby. #Bingers
@@McCammalot what’s the monster house lobby? Out of curiosity lol
@@flavialobato6098 I know right. We both know that if he reviewed this movie we would be laughing out loud.
@@jtown1311 Just a joke😁 I support Billy watching it at some point, and support people who suggest it -the more the merrier!
"Don't play an instrument with me cuz Imma play you next!"
Oh my gosh, I need to use this line someday! The delivery was beautiful
In the spirit of keeping the burton trend, I recommend “Charlie and the chocolate factory” or “Sweeney Todd”, both with Johnny Depp, keep the good work man! #bingers
5:52 I feel the same way. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter have played in a lot of Movies together, Charlie and The chocolate factory, Alice in Wonderland and Through the looking glass.
I do love that the afterlife was more lively than reality. Because they're free of the burdens of living, especially in that Victorian Era.
#Bingers Practical Magic for spooky season. Sandy Bullock and Nicole Kidman are witchy sisters in a small town. Dark humor, romance, and even... murder?!
Billy:"ooohhh that's a fun little twist didn't see that"
(movie title Corpse Bride)👁👄👁
The music is composed by Danny Elfman which he has worked on a lot of movies with Tim burton! He’s one of my favorite composers!!
You need to end the month with a nightmare before Christmas. Perfect shift and combination between spooky halloween and christmas!!!!!!!
Also have you watched tangled yet??
Yes, he has watched 'Tangled' th-cam.com/video/CTFwrIKJ8ik/w-d-xo.html
This is one of my favourite movies! I am so excited!!
Oh but here’s my favorite detail of that same scene…when he says while practicing “I will cup your…oh GOODNESS NO..”, look at where his hands are 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
DIE DIE WE ALL PASS AWAY 😭😂✊️ this is one of the greatest movies ever made with a soundtrack that SLAPS at every point of the way.
The premiere isn’t on as yet and we’re all on here chatting. That’s what you call the Best Support Team #WeAreBingers 🙌🏼💙. P.S I’m here waiting to see how Billy pronounces this new word 😂
15:21 "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn" is a line from the 1939 film Gone with the Wind
Danny Elfman wrote the soundtrack for this and Nightmare Before Christmas. He and Tim are my second favorite director/composer team.
Thank you for a great video! This story is so beautiful!
fun fact: the composer to this movie is danny elfman (he’s done most tim burton movies). he even does the singing voice for the “skatting” skeleton and jack skellington in nightmare before christmas (which he also absolutely KILLED IT with that soundtrack)
Ahhh!!Billy did it once again, reacting to one of my fav films!!
#bingers here’s some Halloween recommendations,
-Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow
-Hellraiser
-Candyman (original)
-ParaNorman
-Practical Magic
-Midsommer
-Halloween Town
-Event Horizon
-Monster House
-Casper
i second sleepy hollow, paranorman, and monster house. also dark shadows would be fun #bingers
Practical magic!!!
Billy you do not look like no damn worm!! 😂😂😂😂. Hilarious reaction!!
Oh my gosh, thank you I was waiting for your reaction, this is going to be great I already know it 😂.
One of my favorite things about this movie (and I love this movie) is that the original DVD had a mode where you could just play all the music from start to finish, no dialog and no lyrics (I think), from start to finish and it was BEAUTIFUL. I got so much creative work done with that in the background.
“See that’s why you can’t be puting rings on random trees!” OKAYY? 🤣
This is THE film of my childhood I used to watch it over and over again. I still remember the first time the I watched it tho and I couldn't stop crying because Emily came apart in butterflies. Right after finishing the movie I went up the stairs to my mother, me still crying so hard, and she comforted me. :'))
i highly recommend Paranorman! It’s from the same studio that made Coraline #bingers
Oh my god yes! I love that movie!
This whole spooktober month you're hosting, is just pure BLISS for me. Loving every post every time 🖤
My name is Emily… can’t help but empathize with the Corpse Bride! Love this movie, the music, the piano playing…. Thank you for reacting!
Thank you so much for the video Billy can't wait for you to see this react to more movies like this or horror movies
Know this reaction gonna make me laugh 🤣
If you're reacting to horror shows, I highly recommend Haunting of Hill House and Haunting of Bly Manor.
I'm so glad you did this movie! It's one of my favourites!
I love stop-motion animation. There's something so special about it. 'Corpse Bride' isn't my favorite, but it's still a great movie. #bingers "The Nightmare Before Christmas' is my favorite.
"Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn' is from 'Gone With the Wind' 1939.
Side Note - You misspelled the movie. you wrote 'CORSPE' instead of 'CORPSE'
i love this movie and i am sooooooooooooooooooo happy you reacted to it
the setting is victorian era where young unwed maidens couldnt be alone with a man til they were married
This is my favorite Tim Burton movie, and one of my favorite movies period. Thank you for doing this one.🦋
his smile is so contagious honestly
Imma say it: the amount of joy I had when I saw this pop up in my recommended is insane. I love this movie so much and I loved watching you react to it.
Billy's killing me using all these words I know he had to Google to know what they mean in these titles lol. Glad you watched this one. I always loved this one when I was young
Very good movie for this time of year right here. Also I like to think that, even though they didn’t make a part 2, Victor and Victoria named their first daughter Emily. Just food for thought. 🥰
#Bingers I HIGHLY recommend Hocus Pocus it is a classic Halloween movie !!!
#bingers I forget, have you seen Nightmare Before Christmas? Coraline? Paranorman? Monster House? Legend of Sleepy Hollow - meaning the short Disney movie from the 40s that was originally released as a 2-in-1 movie with their adaption of The Wind in the Willows called 'Ichabod and Mr Toad' (though I guess we should also be recommending the Tim Burton movie 'Sleepy Hollow' even though that changes a lot - both the storyline and Ichabod Crane's general character and the question over whether or not he could actually be called a good man).
Ooh I love this move and this reaction was amazing as usual! I recommended The 1990s version Casper #bingers
One of my fav movies, sooo excited for this
"emily, you're not his first choice. you're not even his last choice"

So excited for this commentary! Corpse Bride is my comfort movie😌
#Bingers I totally recommend watching Tim Burton’s version of sleepy Hollow!!
ooooof ya did my favourite Tim Burton animated film. I feel well fed. thank you !!
Tim Burton isn't to everyone's taste. In my experience, people either love him or hate him. I, personally, haven't watched anything of his I didn't like. I just find it impossible to think of his work negatively. That said, I haven't watched all of his stuff.
So glad you decided to do this one. One of my favorites especially around Halloween. It is nice to see a story for kids that doesn't talk down to kids and can deal with some deep, emotional stuff while still being fun. Suggestion for next one. Muppet haunted mansion# bingers
RIP Sir Christopher Lee, who did the voice of the pointy-chinned priest
The White checks reaction call back killed me 🤣🤣🤣
Imma save this til dinner’s ready so I have something to watch 😌✨
I m so glad your enjoying this. Everyone I've shown this said they didn't like it, that it was boring 😭
