      Yes, I'd love to hear you discuss the linear gamma instead of traditional. I've used both, but I seemed to have had a few problems with my color grade breaking with linear when upstream from other nodes. I'm sure it's something I don't understand. Thanks, Qazi. Really appreciate you!

    Qazi is there any way you can find a way to convert DJI Dlog M so we can work in Davinci Color Management or CST. It’s frustrating we are stuck grading Mavic 3 Pro Dlog and Dlog M in Rec709. Just wondering if you could find a way or create a DCTL so we can get Dlog and Dlog M into the wider Davinci Wide Gammut. You would be an absolute hero if u could find a solution to this as DJI are refusing to answer this question about why they haven’t gave Davinci Resolve the Dlog, DlogM Input Color Space and Gammut white paper info to add to the library of Input Color Spaces. See what u could come up with Qazi please 🙏

    hey what's your preferred contrast curve method? Using S-Curve or Linear setup within project settings before you prep the grade?
    I believe some have this turned off for doing linear contrast and then finesse doing S-curve roll off using curve tools via the node tree.

  • @BrianSellers
    @BrianSellers หลายเดือนก่อน

    SO... how your tools work together behind the scenes to complement each other is incredible 😮, and I'm seriously considering investing in QT, but I have two quick questions for you: I'm a wedding filmmaker, so not a professional colorist, but someone for whom image, look, feel, SKIN TONES, etc., are really important and can be a big differentiator.
    1. Given all the changing lighting conditions I encounter in (primarily outdoor) weddings, and the fact that except for the reception, I really don't have much control over the light, would the QT tools be helpful, or so powerful as to be "too much" to use for all the different uncontrolled lighting conditions?
    2. I currently color correct everything with a fixed node tree, then add all clips in a scene (or the entire film, depending) to a group, where I do global adjustments to keep a given look consistent across the scene/film. Then I'll go back into the individual clip nodes and adjust to taste as necessary. Would that be a good general workflow for using QT, or would you recommend some other overall process?
    Thanks in advance, and keep up the awesome work, man. Your content is SO useful and I've learned a ton from you over the past couple years! 👊🏻

    • @theqazman
      @theqazman  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      it is made for you, bro. I’ve worked the weddings in the past and grading using your primaries and traditional tools become a really big problem, especially if you wanna create a dope ass look because you’re gonna have to get into your secondaries and that’s where the grade falls apart when the lighting changes. and as you saw on this example, that’s the strength of Qazi‘s tool kit. I made it specifically so it can shine in difficult situations. That’s why all they say. The school is not only for Hollywood Colorist. It is made for film makers because nothing else in the market can do with this can offer. So get it and let me know when you’re on the other side. 💪🏽

      @@theqazman Thanks for the detailed response, man - I really appreciate it! So in this tutorial vid you created this look and then applied it to two other similar shots - same general color temp, quality of light, etc.
      Let's say this woman is actually a bride taking the subway to her wedding (it could happen! 🤣), and in the next scene she walks out of the subway and goes above ground into her ceremony in an outdoor park. Totally different lighting temp, sources, quality, direction, etc. Where are you making adjustments to keep a similar look, but with the new lighting conditions?
      Is the QT-created look robust enough to keep the same general T&O look for that and just adjust the color correction nodes?
      Or is it a combination of adjustments to the correction nodes above and minor adjustments to the QT look nodes themselves?
      Or do you think you'd need to create an entirely new 7-node QT look?
      I know you can't definitively answer this hypothetical (and it's somewhat dependent on the narrative and story anyway); I'm just trying to get a feeling for how you use QT to keep a consistent look across multiple scenes. Thanks again, dude! 👊🏻

    • @theqazman
      @theqazman  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Color grading is very different than compression. That’s like saying, they shouldn’t have graded Dune and Blade Runner because when I watch it on Instagram, it looks like log. No one ever complains about that. The thing that we always get frustrated over is the artifacts and compression that the grades the image not necessarily the colors.
