I think what he means more is that that practice will give u the push u will need. Because personally i have done presentation over presentation over the years and it has not worked. And i agree that maybe if i would only focus now on the other person's brain, on how what im gonna transmit will help them, instead of me, it can do the trick. It's not like one will fake it the rest of their lives, it's just the beginning facade that will portray whom u will become with this practice:) At the end of the day it depends how u wanna see it, like any other life topic, but in my opinion i think it's great advice:)
I mean, “fake it until you make it” can do wonders too; like going to sleep, “being happy” (people say that smiling can trick/lie your brain into thinking that you’re actually happy), seeing new things from a new perspective (you can only see a different point of view if you pretend to believe in it for a while I guess), etc. It depends on what you’re using it for, but overall I think it's a powerful tool to begin something wonderful
What I've taken away from the "fake it to you make it" slogan, is that just jumping in and doing the work is a far better teacher than any amount of school will ever give you. They say that as a way to get people to stop over thinking and just do the thing in order to get better at it, this, "making it".
The problem is that we underestimate our capabilities and come to feel deceived that we can't do this or that. Maybe at the beginning it feels strange to 'fake it' confidence (or whatever else), but eventually you'll achieve that goal.

I remember my first public speaking class in first semester in college back in 2019 i was like "Shit here we go again" even tho i was pretty sociable i had stage fright and i was so shy to talk infront of a CROWD of classmates and a teacher who is 100% confident in when it comes to speaking to a crowd. what i thought was i will pretend that i am alone in the classroom and just rehearsing my prepared speech, and oh boy i nailed that presentation and class mates started always putting me in group debates when teachers ask for a debate i was the person, cuz they said "i inspire confidence" just hearing those words made me more confident in speaking to crowds. My previous Employer (were i worked for 30 year) sent me on a training course many years ago to improve my communication skills, All it was back then, was me, standing on an empty stage in a theatre with no audience, and reading from a script. I've learnt more from watching a few of your videos on how to be more confident and less shy. However Its the doing it in public I cant overcome. I hope after watching more of your videos it helps me overcome my fears. Many Thanks

My problem with implementing all of this is that I am unable to handle the amount of social pressure I feel after expressing myself as an outgoing person. Amazing video Vinh! The first part is really useful for introverts and teenagers (I used to be that way) when I feel my introvert come out sometimes and it makes me seem like I have two different personalities. Sometimes I do t want to have small talk sometimes I do. All depending on my emotions that day and I’m working on that. As a content creator, I would love some of the ways your thought process goes when presenting your content.
My battle with shyness is quite unique, I would say, in that, I am not shy around successful, savvy, wealthy people. But my lack of confidence and shyness overcomes me when I am with "small" people. People who would be considered as far less savvy, far less worldly, far less exposed to society. I've been really trying to understand whats going on. I live in a third world country in SEAsia and when I'm in Europe I'm super confident. When I'm back here, I'm overcome with shyness. I'm analyzing myself and have come to understand that the root of my shyness and crippling social anxiety is really coming from the fear of offending or weirding-out the very simple-minded, religious, tightly-wound, judgmental members of society who still believe, for example, that divorce is a sin against God. I've been surrounded by these "small people" all my life thus far, and really, I can say that they will judge you from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet, as being, "Cocky, arrogant, sinner, slutty" etc etc etc. if you don't behave and speak like "mama Mary". And they make those judgments really just because they're (please excuse me for the term), "nobodys". Their mindsets are really backwards. But these people represent the majority of those around me and these are the people who really have kept me in social anxiety and a lack of confidence. For example, I had dinner with one of the wealthiest families in Scandinavia the other month and I just felt SO RELIEVED to be able to talk, move, think, and express myself THE WAY I AM. I felt so damn FREE. And it was that night during that dinner, that I realized, that I am not actually an inherently shy or socially anxious person! I just get so stressed feeling like I have to pull myself down to the level of other people and THATS what has me acting all shy and crippled with anxiety! It was SUCH an eye-opening moment for me!
YOU ARE GREAT sir , thanks for sharing your own journey ... it helps a lot and secondly , I appreciate you trying to make the video as engaging as possible :) .
Thanks Vinh. I'm enjoying listening to your tips and encouragement. Taking a lot of notes and looking forward to becoming the new me! My leadership role starts in a few weeks so I'm definitely taking your advice on board! Thanks so much 🙏
1.body language and wye contact. 2.look and sound confideny. *Strong volume *End low pitch 3.adopt curious minded.put focus on the other person. 4.elaborated on replies 5.share stories or start documenting stories.
I love you 😊 Because I see myself in the future I took the first step into this journey and I believe just like you overcame I will too Thank you Xiexie
My main problems after trying out these tips: - Eye contact works fine, when I know the other person doesn't know a lot about the subject. If I know they're expert, eye contact makes me extremely nervous, because I feel like I'm talking non sense and they are judging me. - Pausing. This invites people to interrupt me and say stuff I just wanted to say or ask question about what I was about to say, making it seem like I forgot about these things.
Really well-done video, Vinh! My hubby and I have been following your content for a while now and you never disappoint 😉 Keep up the great work 👏 Love from Australia 🐨🦘
Listening to thiss .. i remember about a lession i learned from the book atomic habit , iif y want to adopt a habit or thing u should first think that y are already that person who follow that habit ❤❤ultimatky your habit will change
Well said Vinh, I love the trick ⬇⬇⬇⬇ Don't look shy and Don't sound shy this is the first thing that people recognise in a speaker and make a judgement about that person. Then the most powerful tip is - Have stories ready to share because it helps us to make a connection with the audience.
“We become the things we most consistently practice.”
Yes and I will become a great person as I practice being that
Sorry just had to say this but woow thats the best advice I have ever heard thank you for that I genuinely appreciate that❤❤🎉

How exactly do you shift your focus on to the external environment? Do you ask yourself questions about the other person(s)? If so, what are they?

I just get so stressed feeling like I have to pull myself down to the level of other people and THATS what has me acting all shy and crippled with anxiety! It was SUCH an eye-opening moment for me!
Good points Vhin...since i have attended your workshop it really help me alot...keep up the good work!!

I was struggling about fake confidence until i saw your video.
I totally get that. When my friend told me that I'm not a shy person,I actually thought that I wasnt although I knew I was
Vin’s freakin’ awesome!
I love your blog I'm just like you I'm still working on my confidence and I'ma shy person.
Amazing tips, Thank you!!!
My main problems after trying out these tips:
- Eye contact works fine, when I know the other person doesn't know a lot about the subject. If I know they're expert, eye contact makes me extremely nervous, because I feel like I'm talking non sense and they are judging me.
- Pausing. This invites people to interrupt me and say stuff I just wanted to say or ask question about what I was about to say, making it seem like I forgot about these things.
You use editing to re engage mind into your next line of speech thats great tactic
Really well-done video, Vinh! My hubby and I have been following your content for a while now and you never disappoint 😉 Keep up the great work 👏 Love from Australia 🐨🦘

Well said Vinh, I love the trick ⬇⬇⬇⬇
Don't look shy and Don't sound shy this is the first thing that people recognise in a speaker and make a judgement about that person.
Then the most powerful tip is - Have stories ready to share because it helps us to make a connection with the audience.
I am blessed to have found you
This really helped me!
