beautiful painting..........I love the looseness of it.........lavender is such a gorgeous plant............so many varieties of it.........I love the smell of it too.........it's interesting how you paint your lavender fields differently...............I took the one on teachable where you used gouache..............someday maybe I'll try that painting again...........on my first try, I got carried away with the gouache, which like you said, should be reserved for the end as a finishing touch.............I ended up muddying my entire painting by trying to "fix" too many areas with the gouache.........so when I wet the gouache and the translucent watercolor paints, I ended up with a sea of mud................I really overworked that painting, and it got worse and worse...........finally I just hid it away.........the good thing though was that I learned not to go over the gouache and translucent areas with water.............everything turned to mud.........I should have stopped working on it, way before I got to the stage........will never try to make that mistake with future paintings..............so a ruined painting, but also a learning experience
☺️🌹I am glad that class has taught you a lot and yes, this is so much different. These last lavender fields are painted loose and no white gouache. I am trying to use less WG because once I can teach my students how to go without it, then it's much easier to find that balance when a person wants to use it. You always want to use WG as an icing on a cake vs an ingredient 😀
Thank you so much Clive, you know I believe that the longer we paint the "looser" we become, naturally🌸☺️🌸Less caring strokes, more effortless.. just going with a flow☀️
