The "Melisma" is a kazak folk element and has its own rules and roots in the kazak culture. He has a perfect breath Control. He ones said in an interview, that singing is like Sports and composing is not easier than mathematics. So he is a Pro in every aspect. 20 years of learning and still he is on University for a master in composing and aiming a PHD afterwards. He is THE Artist of this century. Glad I live in this time, to experience his art. He is not "Show Business" , he is a PHENOMENON! and will stay for 100years (Quote from a TV Show, when a very famous female russian singer stated that) Initially she was asked: Do you see any Young Artist with a bright future ? She refused to answer. Than Igor Krutoy pointed to Dimash (also sitting at the table): What about him ? She smiled and said: He is out of question, this is something totally different......not Show BiZ, Phenomenon and so on.....She is right, he is uncompared.
Eloquently stated. And his melisma and coloratura are just beyond everyone else. This might be crazy but I personally compare him to amazing prodigies from the past like Mozart and Beethoven. He doesn't compose big Symphonies as far as I'm aware but he is no less a rare phenomenon than they are.
Most of us could take 20 years of training and we would be amazing singers and if we're lucky great performers. But we would still never match his range or skill in singing nor in all of the other skills he possesses. Languages, instruments, music styles, composing, dancing, what have I missed?
He's also an ambassador in his country and a junior ambassador of the Silk Road initiative. He is a steward and mentor for young singers and musicians. He is so dedicated to them that he gave up a $1,000,000 prize at The World's Best to allow two children he was competing against to move forward in the competition.
He's extraordinary in that he has achieved wisdom at his age that has allowed him to keep his humility, to remain down to earth, to realize and state to people that he understands this is only a moment in time and things can change. He's appreciative of his fame and the love of his fans. As a human being, he seems like a really amazing person. I'd truly love to meet him and have a conversation. Go to a cafe and just talk music.
And I understand he has flaws. He wouldn't be human if he didn't. I respect and envy his talent as a singer myself. I am obsessed with watching him perform and listening to the incredible creativeness that he puts forth to us in music form.
But I don't see him as perfect. And that has pissed some Dears off because some fans want to see him as completely perfect and above reproach. But that's okay. We all love him in our own way oh, don't we?
We should absolutely realize that we are living in a special time with a young man who will go down in history. I have this fear, though, of something happening to him like Christina Grimmie. She was a beautiful young singer full of life and love. At 22 years old, she was taken from us by a madman.
I feel like the people in our world who have a true vision and a wish to bring everybody together in love, peace and harmony tend to be taken from us before their message can spread to others.

Melisma or melismatic singing came from Baroque period , and it is also an element in different styles and different ways , Arabic singing or Qwaali elemente from pakistan , druphad from india and so on ;)

Dimash has degrees in both Classical and Contemporary voice, and he is working on his master's in Composition. He comes from a musical family. His mother is an operatic soprano, and his father is a pop singer, composer, and producer. He has been training since he was 5, and has said that he knew from early childhood that he would be a singer. For me he is the physical embodiment of music.

He is 25 yrs old. He has been training for 20 yrs. He has 6+ octave range. Perfect pitch. His mother (an opera singer) says she credits his lung capacity to swimming throughout his youth. But the control is all his. He is -- IMO -- the greatest voice I have ever heard. Perhaps the best ever born.
Dimash incredible! He is called a vocal magician, a juggler of notes. The most incredible thing is that at any moment of his performance he is able to voice any note extracted in any of the impossible number of ways peculiar to various musical styles and directions

"The control" is something many reactors remark on, so don't feel lonely! Also, I recently watched a video from when he won the Slavianski Bazaar in 2015, and his voice has just gotten better and better. (right now I can't recall if you've seen his most recent, Passione, but that shows he continues to improve even now). In an interview he said he practices 3 hours a day.
Regarding Dimash inspiring you musically, I agree. I am not a singer at all, but lately I'm walking around humming and singing anyway, thanks to this guy's music.
The band playing with him is the original singers of "Sinful Passion".
And mister pianist on stage is the composer.

That's strange run was an adapted Arabic melisma and it was 22 sec long, he can do anything with his voice, he is the vocal master

The run at the end is actually more R&B. Not Arabic (I live in the Middle East).

-ov is the genitive form of the name.

He who sings prays twice. Dimash was a god send to remind us of that.

This was in Russia which is the only part of the world where they add the ov to his name. This song belongs to the band on stage. One of their members had just died & Dimash stepped in to sing this song & after you stopped the video, when Dimash was through collecting flowers he spoke to the audience & thanked the band & before he left the stage he actually hugged 2 of the members. That is the kind of man he is, he loves making others happy.

This is my favorite Dimash performance
He is training since he was five so . twenty years of study and practicing every day ; plus he plays 7 instruments and perfectly know music theory . In the last 3-4 yrs he is getting better n better ! Alien .

Kudaibergenov, (ov) added to last name is how they pronounce it in Russia. Dinmukhamed Kanatuly Kudaibergen is a Kazakh singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He is university trained in classical as well as in contemporary music and is known for his wide vocal range of 6 octaves, from D2 to D8. This spans from the bottom of the bass range beyond the top of the soprano range.-From Wiki.
