The back entry into the mud room/laundry and having the master suite closet right there is genius!!.so easy to take your clothes off and shoes and go right into your closet to get dressed or a robe to take a shower!!..smartest thing I’ve seen..I love it!!
I am absolutely in love with this house. It has everything I love in a farm style home. The owners did an incredible job.
I love that the shutters are really shutters, not just ornamental... That makes me crazy. Great build!
Love this barn style house! Not sure how I feel about the concrete floors in the winter but other than that, I would so live in something like this. Thank you to homeowners for sharing their design ideas.
Heated floors are the answer you are looking for.
I agree it's a beautiful home and I love the layout too. Me and my husband built our home 3 yrs ago and decided to go with stained concrete floors. It turned out beautifully and for the price it was the only option in our budget. But, knowing what I do now, I'd have gladly redone the budget to do something else. Yes, I have rugs & runners all over but you still end up walking on just concrete alot and yes, they are cold in the winter. They are also hard to keep clean and keep that original shine without constantly cleaning & buffing them in high traffic areas. Also I'm in my late 50's and they have caused me back, knee and foot problems even wearing good shoes. So, do your research is my best advice. Also, take your time and look at all options available then research, research and research before ever making final decisions on everything. Building any new home is going to end up costing you up to twice your budget. It's crazy but it does. We love our home but now see so many little things we would've done differently. Best of luck

That house has so much personality. I would want a kitchen sink at the window. Clever way the red/burgundy was scattered throughout. The window coverings were perfect to provide privacy when needed. And that pocket door to the laundry area: A+
I do appreciate the interest found in the variation in roof lines. That is the one thing I don't like about common barndos. kudos. Lots a great ideas, tips and advice TBC! The best reminder I saw however, was WISE MEN STILL SEEK HIM. : )

My husband and I just found you guys and are so in love with the barndominium style home that we are going to look into building this on our farm instead of a builder grade home! We are in Oregon so definitely have to do some research on our requirements and weather proofing differences etc!

Goes to show us how those old barns stood the test of time and protected our goods. Thanks for sharing a great idea of comfortable and upscale barndo living. I will definitely have a barn style build dwelling place over a large flashy home that shows off on the outside but does not "wow" much inside. (To each their own) These barndo builds continue to "wow" us on the inside. Let's face it folks, we do live inside and not out in the yard just to look at a pretty home. Thank you very much for sharing! Do thank the owners! BTW, I do have Texas in my blood. My dad is from Houston and I lived in Houston in the late 70's. ⭐💯

This one is my favorite so far. True country style barn. I would have omitted the shop and just built another barn/garage similar to the house for my cars and workshop. Love this one.

It’s a HUGE budget saver having stained concrete flooring. Just think of the per-foot cost of wood flooring, tile, or carpeting.
And can look great too. Put an area rug here and there wherever you’d like something else under foot.
These videos have shown me the exact style of home that I want. Maybe I'll end up in Texas later in life too. Thanks for showing these!

Energy efficiency building techniques look great.
Air sealing, super insulation, energy efficient heating and air conditioning systems, energy efficient appliances, set back thermostats, LED lighting, solar panels with battery storage and a 220 outlet for a future electric vehicle in the garage. You did not spend enough time going over any of these features. I noticed the solar panels on the roof but you did not mention them. It would have been great to talk to the owner and see what solar is saving them.
Saving energy saves money on utilities month after month, year after year.
Love different angles of roof & the outside window trim.
All Homeowners beautiful woodwork, kitchen, etc.

Only thing I really don't like is the colors chosen, which of course is completely personal preference and changeable.
Really enjoy the layout and size, love that all the bedrooms are on the same level and that they're on the ground level but it's fantastic that there is that bonus room upstairs. A nice feature that I think a lot of people don't think about, the loft upstairs is open but not directly open to the living room so the loft is a totally separate area, if you want to watch a movie upstairs and someone is watching tv in the living room the tv's won't be competing with each other. Really great separate areas that could easily be used daily.
My family and I are absolutely in love with Barndos. Wait til my daughter sees this!

Thanks for featuring the wood built barndo. I do love the cement plank outer walls and actually built a home with it in 1999, but I’m looking forward to eliminating shingles in my future barndo. I also like the condensed version even though we didn’t get as many details. We’ve been told that it’s financially better (tax wise) to build a home (barndo) from an actual barn. Can anyone with experience comment on this? Thanks
Just discovered this style of house was even a thing. I love them and when we move to Wyoming in a few years I hope we will be able to build on. I have found a plan that I like and I hope I can buy it for when the time comes.
I am not a fan of having the kitchen at the front door. Other than that, it’s a nice construction.

That top room would be my master bedroom and have a master bath in it with French doors leading out to an elevated deck with my bed with mosquito netting on wheels so I can push it out on the deck. Cmon man!

We have ten acres in north Texas and really wanted to build a barndominium but we are having a hard time with finding someone to give us good direction in it. Seems like it used to be a less expensive option but now has gone up since fixed upper and all the farm craze. Loved this! And I agree about corner pantries and space under stairs. So useful and practical. You can use lazy Susan’s in the corners of the pantry shelves!

We have a barndominium I guess. Our structure and outer coating including the roof is all metal. Ours is small though, about 960 Sq ft. It is our retirement home and we built the whole thing with our own hands. Also did our own electrical and plumbing. The only thing not built by us are the custom cabinets throughout done by a local cabinet maker. House is 2 bedrooms, one bath and utility room. We also have a woodstove which can heat the entire house in the winter. Love our house, it fits us perfectly. Located in Comanche County, Texas

Instead of the corner pantry, I'd much rather have a built in cupboard pantry with sliding shelves.. the ones I had were so easy to get to things I needed when cooking.. plus I had a small closet for brooms etc.. I did really like the island., and the big farm sink!!

Enjoying your vids and all the great info and ideas to consider. Looking forward to a future project! I’d like to comment about the additional benefit of different surfaces effecting the acoustics. Notice how much better and “warmer” it sounds in some rooms without the harsh, “cold” echoes and reverb found with so many hard and parallel surfaces.

I’m absolutely in love 😍 with the barndo homes! Could you guys share the dimensions of the barndominiums as well.
I'm currently drawing a barndominium/garage home and this has given me a lot of idea's! Maybe some day I can acctually build my drawing but for now still just dreaming up idea's.
I have noticed in these big houses that, other then the master, the bedrooms are always so tiny! Bed shoved against the wall and a dresser squeezed in somewhere (usually at the end of the bed). Seems like the could put a decent size bedroom in.
Generally, do you REALLY want the 'kids bedrooms' so comfy they don't WANT to leave?

The best " barndominium " for me would be a three or four storey Tudor style one with ensuite bathrooms in each bedroom, broad corridors and a swimming pool. In addition to a game room or suite with a bowling alley, theatre, indoor and outdoor putting greens, and a few other amenities.
Has the best barndominium been built, that question is a matter of opinion. They are custom built to what the owner wants, so for each person that has built there own, I would think they would say they have the best.
In this video, I really love the kitchen colors, this is what we are currently in motion of doing right now. We have a lot of projects on hand getting our house updated and ready to sell on the market. I do not like however the dark wood with the white cabinets as they did in the kitchen. One of my favorite preferences was where the master bedroom had access right into the laundry room. Another use of having an access straight into the laundry room would be, how many times do you come in from working on the farm muddy or just plain dirty. Walk-in disperse the dirty laundry then straight into the master room and straight to the shower. We are having our new home built, in remodeling ours we are getting so many ideas for our forever home. We are older and done moving around, we want this to be our forever home with our kids and grandkids to enjoy as well. Thank you for your video, this helped us with a lot of great ideas.

Dee Holt He may have done that for security reasons. I noticed a few barns in the background of the outdoor shots. I would not want want my house mapped to the inch and shown to the world.
Although beautifully done, I feel this build got away from the bardominium style by not being attached to the "work space"and just becoming a barn themed house. I still love it though!!
