    I love your videos and I learn a lot from you. I teach my students to throw a left hook up or down and pivot at the same time with the hook. So you combine the hook up or down with the pivot. I teach them to do this early or in the beginning to see how their opponent reacts. After they see their opponent's reaction they can sit more on the left hook and do the escape routes that you showed. Thanks again for another great video!

    Great video once again, Coach Anthony knows boxing man. I don't even care about anybody else's videos. Coach, I see right now on the international level, I watch the Cuban amateurs, and every year they incorporate new techniques. I saw something they were doing just these Pan-American Games in Lima, Peru. A lot of times they were throwing the left hook/uppercut to the body while simultaneously pivoting to the outside. They do it a lot with their hooks to the head and I've been following the Cuban team religiously for maybe the past 6 years and this is a new development and they were pretty good using this technique. So as opposed to throwing the hook to the body and then pivot, throwing the left hook/uppercut to the body with a pivot at the same time.The effectiveness of that punch when combined with the pivot might not be the same but the risk of getting countered by a sharp puncher also decreases.

    In my utmost humble opinion.
    I’ve said it before, but words of praise cannot be outworn when they state the truth.
    “ Nothing more rewarding than getting ones thesis validated by those who exceeds oneself in excellence”
    I’ve observed the exact same thing, not only incredibly important to comprehend how and why to cut the angle, but also in regards to different martial contexts ie Muay Thai/ MMA/ Lethwei where one has increased toolsets at one’s disposal,( elbows/ Muay Thai Plum/ head-butts/knees) even so, the basic comprehension of this overlooked concept cannot be underestimated nor overlooked, as it surpasses style, as quality footwork is key to efficient movement regardless of system practiced.
    “ Advanced are basics done correct”
    Again, appreciations for sharing with all of Sir, an privilege and honor to be able to observe and learn. :)
    Sincere regards.
    Fellow martial artist.

      Arshia Ya dig? Jab is the number one set up. Try throwing a jab far left/right of your opponents head and you’ll force him to move the opposite direction then come the right. Another way is light punches that are quick to set up for hard punches that are heavy.

Is that so you cut the angle on the right hand right after rolling?

    I agree with most of what you said, however I don’t agree with the hook to the body counter with the chopping left hook. It leaves a huge hole open for the over hand right especially if the hook to the body was a touch decoy used to distract and open. I personally believe you should counter with the uppercut from the side you caught the body shot. It leaves you covered.

    • @CoachAnthonyBoxing
      @CoachAnthonyBoxing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The hook to the head when someone throws a hook to the body is the most common counter for the hook to the body ...the uppercut is also a great counter. You can watch a boxing match and see this shot land hundreds of times in different matches and in my own experience Ive landed the shot many times myself as The uppercut all depends on which shot I decide to throw.

    • @CoachAnthonyBoxing
      @CoachAnthonyBoxing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And the left hook will beat the over hand right...now if you trigger the body and throw the straight right hand I can see your point, but boxing there is always a hole and always a counter to the counter so that's a timing game.

    I'm not saying those aren't good escape routes off the left hook because they are. But why escape from in close fighting at all. I mean it takes a lot of foot work, and punches to get in close to begin with. So why escape it once you get there, and then later in the fight have to work your way back into that position. In which I see a lot of fighters doing just that. I just believe in fighting my way in close, staying close while having a tight guard, and moving around opponent to an angle.
