I've been a serious fan of Star Trek my whole life since I watched the original series as a kid in the 60's. I just stumbled across this and watched it from end to end and was amazed at what you and your team created, and did so in the early 90's before the internet was available! Those who left negetive comments are simply not seeing what you and your team accomplished with what you had to work with. The storyline was excellent as was the attention to detail! Yes, this film was made in large part by piecing together video and audio clips from other movies. However, I don't see that as a negetive, rather as a very resourceful use of what you had to work with and it was done in such a precise way as to repurpose the clips to follow and support both the new storyline and the acting while the actors and their lines often paid homage to the films those clips came from. Add in the character interplay including bits of humor here and there that stayed true to the original characters, and the result is a film that was masterfully woven! What you and your team created here demonstrated what true Star Trek is all about. This was obviously a work of love and I very much enjoyed it. Thank you.
Thanks so much for your comment and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. You can see our intention and true lovers of the genre can truly understand it. Thank you..

This was one of the most entertaining Star Trek Fan Film I have watched. It was full of suspense and kept us on out toes trying to figure how will they get out of this, over and over again. Great writing and the acting was very good for not having professionals. Your team is a creative genius.
thanks Michael, I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's always hard to have unbiased opinions on the stuff you do. Brandon was most definitely the genius behind this project.
Ingenuity was definitely on display in this fan production, from the set building to the acting. I enjoyed suspending my reality for this voyage aboard the Enterprise once again. This is really actually very impressive. I would like to know more about how it was edited together in 1994. How do you even layer audio together like that in 1994?
Brandon edited it all together at the Ball State University Telecommunications studio. based on today's mixing set ups - it was dark ages, but advanced for the 90's We were lucky to have the uni studio available to us.
Thank you! We had almost no tech, as it was the early 90's when we put this together! Thanks for taking the time to watch and for your positive feedback, which is uncommon in the times that we are living! Live Long and Prosper 🖖!
Yeah, TH-cam noted at least five copyright violations for that alone when we uploaded the video. We tried to upload it about ten years ago but were blocked for the numerous copyright claims, but recently TH-cam has relaxed its policy on that and will allow copy written material as long as you are not making any money from the video. We never planned on putting this on the internet as the internet did not even exist when we made this. James Horner did the music score for both Aliens and STAR TREK II, so we figured that it would blend pretty good when we cut the movie together. I recently noticed that the captains log voice over at the end of our movie is very similar to Ripley's last log entry at the end of the first Alien movie: "with any luck, we hope to reach the frontier in next six weeks..." I guess I must have been watching Alien when I wrote this 30 years ago.
@@brandonhines2834 thanks for such a great reply! BTW Your guys portrayal of Klingons both look and the acting was better than almost any fan film I've seen regardless of budget.
@@mrock828 Thanks for the comments. When you have no budget creating costumes, make-up, wigs etc is a task. Brandon was the creative genius who turned standard rubber car mats into Klingon uniforms. it was quite impressive actually! We were not acting students by any means and half the time we were 5-6 beers in, however I think (especially once the action kicked in) the storyline drove itself and you can easily submerge yourself into the action and engage with the scenes like any other movie. I'm happy you enjoyed it. That's what it was made for. Enjoyment.
Ingenious work at play here! Lots of hard work went in to this and it shows nicely. I'm not giving spoiler stuff away, but i have to just have to ask... "Who you gonna call?" Funny you say that, I’ve been pestering Brandon about trying to put together something new. Maybe a 30 year reunion movie! We just need a decent storyline that interconnects Australia (my location) and USA (Brandon location).
Hi Donald, Thanks. We did make a movie poster back in 1994 when we were wrapping up this project, but it got lost over the 25+ years since then. Luckily we still had a VHS copy of the movie to put on TH-cam. Thanks for the feedback!
It must've taken you guys months to put this together. For a fan film back from the 90s long before even flip phones existed. This looks awesome and feels like it belongs in the Prime Timeline! Did any of you decide to make any other fan made projects like this? I'm glad I stumbled upon this!
Thanks, it is always great to hear positive feedback! It took us about 4 years on and off in college between 90-94. After we all graduated we went our separate ways, so this was our only major project. Thanks for watching!
Great job. A true labor of love. From the Irwin Allen school telling an entertaining story without blowing the budget. The acting will not win awards but better than many fan films. Costumes, props, makeup and sets were good considering the resources available at the time. (Better that some of Allen's episodes of Lost-in-Space!) I could have done without the Trek/Wars clichés but the rest of the dialog was believable. The Vulcan first officer and engineer with a Scottish brogue were well played but; again; clichés. The script, while not groundbreaking, was most interesting and kept up the suspense until the end. All things considered, I'd give in an 9 of 10. Which is 10 points better than anything I've done (which is nothing).
Thanks Ed! That was an honest review. We had no budget, but we had a lot of heart and love for the project as well as admiration for Star Trek! Thanks again for watching! Live Long and Prosper 🖖
Hi Jordan, that is a sound effect from a 90's Super Nintendo video game of Aliens. The theme and sounds of Star Trek II and Aliens are used throughout this low budget (aka no budget) feature 😀
Thank you for sharing this ... I gotta say talk about a lot of work to do this in the early 90's .... The sets are perfect, just enough to tell the story... I can't imagine the time put in to editing this, especially if recorded on vhs.. If only the powers at be would realize this era of trek with red uniforms needs to be revisited with a show today ....
Thank you for watching! It took over a month editing this working 8 hours a day! This was totally inspired by Star Trek II. We made this for our families and friends as a fun project, but it is great to see it appreciated by others as well! Live Long and Prosper 🖖
Hi Thomas, yes this was a fan film made on VHS while we were in college 25 years ago. All of it was done back in the early 1990's, with practically no budget!
This was entertaining. Anyone who complains about it should just keep their unwanted comments to themselves. It was a good fan film for its day, regardless of the skill of the amateur acting, (who can act better than certain A-list actors of today) You should all consider getting together and doing something else. And lastly, ignore ignorant assholes who can complain, but can't produce anything better. Live Long and Prosper 🖖
A lot of work went in to making this. Any way to get a Special Edition with New FX to replace the Paramount Stock Footage? Well done. Have you made other films?
Thanks Kevin! This was a project that we did in college with a lot of help from close friends. We spent four years writing, building sets, filming and editing from 1990-1994. We put the movie on the internet last year for our 25th anniversary of the project so that everyone involved could share it with their friends and families. I am honored to hear your kind words.
@@kevinnoble7060 I have done smaller videos, but they have mostly been family related. I did check out the link that you sent, and it looks cool. I have submitted my request to join your group. Thanks!
Hi Robert, this video was not made for the internet as it did not exist in 1994 as it does today. We made this for fun to be viewed by our family and friends. When we finished the project we had premier viewing parties where everyone could watch it. Copies of the VHS tape version of the movie were also made for everyone who participated in it. In the early 2000's I managed to scan in a copy of the movie from VHS to DVD to preserve the quality as VHS tapes quickly loose quality over time. We tried to upload it to TH-cam around 2010, but it was immediately taken down for the numerous copyright violations, but recently TH-cam has relaxed its policy on that and will allow copy written material as long as you are not making any money from the video. So for the 25th anniversary of the project we uploaded it again in 2019 and that is how it came to be on TH-cam. Two thumbs up for effort and perseverance. I watched end to end. The sets and props were horrendous, yet with a little help from a friend, believable. The costumes were awful. Again with a toke err help... The whole thing was a hot mess. I akin this to watching a marionette show... You can see the strings, you can see the puppeteers and you know the stage is a shadow box and with a bit of audience imagination all of that seems to disappear. The scores of course and the borrowed scenes were skillfully incorporated. The inexperienced (AKA bad) acting and rehashed lines were fun to watch. For a bunch of college students in the 90's, I say you guys BOLDLY went. KUDOS
Repeating old movie scripts not imaginative, I disagree. How many movies can you name? Dialog and Music, I'll start ST: TMP ST: TWoK ST: TSfS ST: TVH ST: TFF ST: TUC - Henry V The Hunt for Red October Ghostbusters - Do you know where these stairs go? They go UP. LOL Alien Aliens SW: ANH Julius Caesar A Psalm of Live / Genisis 3:19? A Midsummer Night's Dream Die Hard - Hit them again LOL (Rest in peace Hans Gruber, er Alan Rickman) The Tempest, well lets just say Many Shakespeare lines . . . The Charge of the Light Brigade GREAT JOB ALL. Wonder what you guys can do with todays advancements and without the CBS/Paramount limitations.
@JDevPeabody, Clearly you are someone with the benefits of a classical education and an appreciation for homage. My hat is off to you sir! The Klingon captain was originally written to be the son of General Chang from STAR TREK VI where he was vengeful for the death of his father at the hands of the Federation. We ran out of time to explain that in the movie, but that was the inspiration behind his classically trained character's lines. When he finds the Enterprise, which is the same ship that killed his father, he crosses lines to torture them at the behest of his own crew which eventually leads to his downfall in a Shakespearean way. This was one of the most entertaining Star Trek Fan Film I have watched. It was full of suspense and kept us on out toes trying to figure how will they get out of this, over and over again. Great writing and the acting was very good for not having professionals. Your team is a creative genius.

Ingenuity was definitely on display in this fan production, from the set building to the acting. I enjoyed suspending my reality for this voyage aboard the Enterprise once again. Best Episode Ever!
Thanks CBG! Coming from you, that means a lot!
Great story and good acting ! Impressive production and Fx, with little tech did a lot ! ... Hope to see another production soon.
Congratulations 👋💞☺
Thank you! We had almost no tech, as it was the early 90's when we put this together! Thanks for taking the time to watch and for your positive feedback, which is uncommon in the times that we are living! Live Long and Prosper 🖖!
I like that the music from 'Aliens' fits in so nicely!

Enjoyment.

@@burke9497 I wish that Hollywood would get back to making good STAR TREK movies. We filmed our movie back in the early 90's just after STAR TREK VI came out.
(Better that some of Allen's episodes of Lost-in-Space!)
I could have done without the Trek/Wars clichés but the rest of the dialog was believable.

What's that sound effect at 1:31:21?

Still better than Kurtzman crap.
How did people watch this back in 94? I mean there was no video forum to speak of.

This was made before the internet existed, so yeah, we used what ever we could get our hands on. 😃
