Here's a simple and easy mod to beef up your 1990-2020 Miata & Fiat 124 door stiffness while also reducing rattles. Make sure to also swap your old tarnished latch - dovetail - cups while at it! Parts links below.

Early garagestar units were very similar to the cobalts, it didn’t have the step down. It also came with nice polished bolts. Interesting to see they changed it.

So the thing it would be awesome if you did is bolt all these up to a test rig and test deflection under different loads between these different options, stock rubber bushings new and old. I bet there's basically no difference. Although to be fully correct the rig should include a door that also is using the metal latch. I really feel like these make no difference.

I would personally recommend something a bit bigger like a Honda Civic. I had one, but my only issues was how small they are. I’m also 6’3 so that doesn’t help.. lol 😅👍🏼
