In case you didn't realize, the man who shouts "Destroy it, it's called the book of the dead for a reason" on the vinyl is actually Bruce Campbell (aka Ash)
@@samantha_schmittYou guys are my favorites. Gotten way more comfortable on camera but never lost feeling really genuine. Hope the scary season isn't too harsh 😂
The main Deadite, Ellie, is an Aussie actress named Alyssa Sutherland who also portrayed Aslaug in Vikings. Beautiful woman but genuinely terrifying in this movie.
Bruce Campbell announced that him, Sam and Ivan Raimi are officially write a Evil Dead bible. “Will give future writers and directors an idea of where this thing should go next to potentially tie in some of these stories. So I think it’s going to get a little more tied in as the years go by” -Bruce Campbell Also they are going try to make Evil Dead movies every two to three years not every 10 years.
As the 3rd volume says, dismemberment doesn’t work on some Deadites from this book, all you can do is run. So the spirits that possess the girl at the end are likely the 3 deadites that were chopped up in the wood chipper.
This was one of the most successful movies of 2023, coming in at less than twenty million for a budget... But it made almost one hundred and fifty million in the box office. They have already guaranteed more movies are coming, and Raimi is working closely with others to create a proper guidebook for future movies and stories. Current estimates by Campbell and Raimi put the next movie coming out in 2025 to 2026.
The idea the writer/director had for this was, in Army of Darkness when Ash has to get the book and speak the words, theres three books, what if the original movies and the series is one book, the remake is the second book and THIS movie is the third book. they are all similar but show small differences, just like an old ancient book that is copied couple times. i love that idea
41:20 yep Daniel got it! Fans (and I of course too) hope for a full franchise teamup for the or a next one where Ash teams up with Beth, Mia from the first remake, Pablo etc (wonder how that season 3 finale gets retconned?) and bring it all to a massive franchise finale. but the success of this one tells me they gonna draw that final finale (hrhr) out for a while. which i would be okay with because more EVIL DEAD is good EVIL DEAD
The reason Bridget was turned prolly wasn’t because the mom licked her, it was because she first jammed the tattoo machine into her own temple before cutting Bridget with it :)
I also loved the split focus shots in this movie, where both the foreground and midground are in focus separately. You don't see it too often anymore, but I recall seeing it on TV a lot in the 90s.
It's kinda bullshit Hollywood just ignores the performances in horror movies for award consideration. Alyssa Sutherland acted the shit out of her character.
You know how the record stated there was 3 different Necronomicons. Raimi and the writers decided that means the original Evil Dead trilogy has one. The 2000's remake has the 2nd & this storyline has the 3rd one.
The best part of this film, besides being a part of one of the greatest horror franchises in history, is how it took the question of, "Is this a sequel or reboot?" from the 2013 film, and solidified all films and the show together as one story! As this film stated, there are three books, and each generation of film has its own version of the book, which is why all three we've seen so far have different end-bosses. These three were also the same three books in Army of Darkness on the podium, even though they look different. Ash's copy (ED:OG) is the most powerful and used to summon the book's creators, The Dark Ones. Mia's copy (ED:2013) was created to summon The Abomination after consuming 5 souls. Beth's copy (ED:R) was to create monsters, but its power stuck around even after the evil was destroyed. The director of EDR said there's the possibility of a fourth copy somewhere, so it's a good chance we'll have another film in the future. Hopefully not another 10 years apart, though. Or worse, 20 years apart like we waited between Army of Darkness and Evil Dead.
From "Guy I cannot do puke at all" to unbreakable eye contact with Ellie throwing up your favorite, milk xD I guess Evil Dead and Ash vs Evil Dead desensitized you to puke scenes too :P
All the dead bodies were combined together to become one monster. 2013 film makes me traumatises me but this film gives me fun to watch. Burce just gave a hint that there will be 3 characters unite together and we also do not have to wait another 10 years time.
Been waiting for this for a long time. Can't check out the full length reaction right now because I'm at work, but I will do so ASAP. Edit: "Destroy it! It's called the book of the dead for a reason!" That is a cameo by Bruce Campbell himself. Lee Cronin said it could even be Ash Williams as he is known to travel through time. Also, I ranted a while back on Patreon regarding the three volumes of the Naturom Demonto in this movie and how Lee Cronin said one is from Sam's films, one from the 2013 "remake" (not a remake), and one from Cronin's own movie. If you remember, I talked a lot of about Fede Alvarez's statements ofbhis 2013 film and how his and Cronin's statements contradict each other as Alvarez has stated that his book is the same as the original book and that his movie takes place in a universe in which Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness never took place. Yeah, I don't really want to rant again, so I'll just leave it at that. The simple facts. Edit 2: I don't think it's the same in all the movies, but in this one, the evil only spreads through blood. Deadite Ellie used the tattoo gun on her head before using it on Bridget, which got some of her blood in Bridget. Killing people also works, too. Edit: Army of Darkness first established the three different books, but it wouldn't be confirmed until the Army of Darkness comics that started in the late 90's. And if you want to get technical, the word 'volume' was used tonrefer t9 the book by Professor Knowby in the very first film as well, and obviously the word implies there are other books.
killing people worked in the originals too. Didn't have to be a transfer of blood but could. Any wound could cause infection ie the girl that got stabbed with the pencil in the ankle in the original
There is so many Easter eggs in this movie, some are obvious, like the eyeball but my favorite is the voice of the man telling them not to read the book on the recording is Bruce Campbell!!
The part when she was outside the door and she was telling her young daughter to open it, that part scared tf outta me😂😂😂😂and then killing everybody outside the door in the process, if you guys haven’t y’all should watch Insidious (2010)🔥

@LibrasReact right! The original is just.. cheesy. I love me a cheesy horror movie, but I just can't get into the acting in the original.. and the "best friend" is so so annoying in the original.. I can hear in my head his awful whiny voice. However in the remake the friend is played by Mclovin, and his part is FANTASTIC ❤️
I believe the creators have stated that there are 3 books but only 2 have been found. Their plan is to make an evil dead movie every 3-4 years instead of every 10 years.
13:49 ..." one of the 3 fabled volumes of Neturom Demonto " meaning the book Ash posses on the original timeline then the one from the 2013 remake and this one also Ash had to choose his 1 book from 3 in Army of Darkness
First off congrats to you both on the birth of your daughter such happy news and second I love this movie and yes it's not as shocking as the remake and whatever but they did use a lot of fake blood. So much in fact that the actress of Beth had trouble moving her arms and legs because of how sticky it was so she walked around set with a watter bottle to spraey herself with so that she could move her arms at least and would be able to keep fiiming the scenes. I think all the actors did an amazing job in this one and having it take place in an appartment instead of a cabin is always interesting. I like all the call backs to the other movies though like the eye part and the dead by dawn of course. They had it as a record player instead of a tape and that also makes it interesting plus they tied this to the third one with that fact that there are three books of the dead not just the one and I liked that idea as well. Glad you liked it.
It is a good horror film but it's not an 'Evil Dead' film. There is no humour in this one. By any other name it just simply doesn't relate to the originals.
If you truly really want to see a unique, unsettling horror film, submit to your patrons the 1932 black and white film "Freaks". This shows real human beings with physical disabilities, and was considered exploiting such people.. This film was banned in the UK from 1932 to 1953, as well as some states in the US. A film that you will never forget.
I've been waiting for this! But I don't mind. Glad you waited until after Samantha had the baby. I mean, it really kicked off October perfectly. Loved Samantha's scream in the beginning ( 05:30 ) and TBR is always coming through with the laughs. Especially: 09:37 LMAOOOO Thanks for all the great reactions! 👍
Im totally fine with the two diffrrent tones of the franchise. The way i see it is that Ash is so badass he see's the deadites as almost a joke while its much more serious and frightning for regular folk. It keeps the franchise fresh and there hasnt been a bad entry yet.
The first time i discovered your channel i was looking for the full movie of Ghostbusters then i saw you guys and i havent looked back since you guys are the best.....if i may throw in a movie you guys should watch is Freddie vs Jason oh and congratulations on the new baby
The voice you hear on the record is that of Bruce Campbell, playing Ash Williams in a cameo, and it was confirmed by Campbell and Sam Raimi that Ash had gone back in time to get 1920's, 1930's to stop the deadites from being resurrected.
As a 20 yr long fan of the franchise, I fucking loved this movie. Gives me tons of hope for the future and what possible routes they could go down for possible storylines.
About time you guys reacted to this one lol. Evil Dead Rise is a solid movie for sure. I didn't really have too much issues with this one other than some cheesy or cringy parts. Other than that, pretty good movie. It has the same serious tone for the most part but does retain some black humor, similar to Evil Dead 2. Also loved the visuals and overall look of the film. What I found most interesting was that the movie was a theme of family. While do we not know too much about Beth and her family, we see that while there is some clear baggage and some resentment there, they all still love each other. We've seen characters that were siblings like with Ash and his sister Cheryl, but we've never seen actual children being in danger before. Ellie was the main highlight as the deadite. She was ominous and creepy as fuck. At times, funny too! I felt so bad for her since she didn't deserved to be possessed but I'm also kind of glad they didn't really repeat the rape scene again. Another thing I liked was the musical score. Reminded me alot of the 2013 film but with some hints of Hellraiser in the mix. Also really loved some of the callbacks too.
Not gonna lie, I miss the camp from the OG sequels but this and the last one are creepy as hell so well done. Is the thumnail your reaction to the cheese grater moment? That scene made my stomach twist in horror 😱 Love your costumes 🤗
I know for a fair amount of the Evil Dead fanbase, this entry is something of a contentious one. It's kind of a love it or hate it part of the franchise. For myself, i went into it not expecting much. I didn't care for the remake personally. But instead, i ended up really enjoying this one. I've never been a huge devotee of the Evil Dead movies like a lot of fans, so the tonal shift wasn't as jarring for me. I appreciated that they went more straight horror, while still keeping the framework intact. That said, i definitely understand why some fans take issue with this one. If you're a big fan of the classic Bruce Campbell movies, this one a departure.
Never been a big fan of this franchise, and it's difficult to find a horror movie that doesn't suck, expecially in the ladt years. But this is objectively a very good horror movie.
In case you didn't realize, the man who shouts "Destroy it, it's called the book of the dead for a reason" on the vinyl is actually Bruce Campbell (aka Ash)
GROOVY
He also did the sound effect for the eye scene as well. He was recorded going to town on an apple
The director said that it's not just Bruce's voice, it's actually "Ash" and maybe something explored in future films.

Great reactions as always!
23:19 "i would turn on him."
daniel's judgement is swift. 😠😆
As a 20 yr long fan of the franchise, I fucking loved this movie. Gives me tons of hope for the future and what possible routes they could go down for possible storylines.
Yeah, although this is my least favorite installment in the franchise, it’s still a good 7/10 for me.
10:39 i love the fear and the joy.
Thanks, TBR! Thanks, Samantha! 😨 #TBRSchmitt #LeeCronin #EvilDeadRise
I missed that your daughter was here! congrats! ☺️
Nice Ghostbusters uniforms & Proton Packs.
I loved this movie! I think 🤔 it was the most violent of all the Dead movies. Fantastic effects. The wood chipper is just awesome!
haven't even seen the first evil dead yet but have heard so much about it think I should watch it first⚛😀
Phenomenal entry in the series, I watched it by myself in the dark and was literally on the edge of my seat. Awesome reaction.
Now you have to turn it up a notch...Terrifier is a must for Halloween! Good Luck 😢
That scene made my stomach twist in horror 😱
Love your costumes 🤗
Thanks for the Halloween discount! I'm going to buy a Ghostbusters costume for Halloween this year.
Ditto 👻
9:36-9:42 "Nothing good comes from a hole" John Cena: Are you sure about that?! lol 😂😂
you should take the baby in a Slimer onesie!
Congrats again with the new wee one!
yessssss I was waiting for y'all to watch this one!!!
p.s. congrats again on becoming new parents! so happy for y'all❤
Never been a big fan of this franchise, and it's difficult to find a horror movie that doesn't suck, expecially in the ladt years. But this is objectively a very good horror movie.
