The only things holding me back are: (1) Working out homeschooling arrangements for my son, (2) I haven't been working due to extended disability so my immediate savings are nearly depleted and (3) need to make arrangements for selling my house. I may possibly have surgery before leaving as well but TBD.

Good advice, Roshida. I'm lining all my ducks up now. Didn't think this was how early retirement was gonna play out, but I'm here for it.

I think what’s holding me back is where to move to first and how to do it. Now that I have a remote job it should be easy but there’s so much to moving abroad that it becomes overwhelming to me 😔

BJ here. 🌟 I loooove this. I have thought about moving to Mazatlan, however, checking lots and lots of information including many many videos, even google, Mazatlan is to touristy and add much too warm, temperature wise. I feel that Morelia is a better fit for me. I will be traveling there at the beginning of the year. Keep your fingers crossed for me.💕BJ/ATL-USA 💖💚

This was such a great video Roshida. I have definitely felt the need to rush into moving abroad. I have also wanted to move somewhere a lot of people liked, country scouted and changed my mind. Hoping for my move abroad in 2026!

I agree. I'm biting at the bullet on one hand but on the other hand, it has to be smart and well thought out. 2026 the 2027 should be more than enough time. I hope to see you on the other side, smiling happy and thriving.

100% agree with your recommendation not to accept other people's budgets as your own. I live in a country where most foreigners claim that you can live on $1k USD. It costs me $3k/month to maintain a basic life in this country and I would HATE my life here if I had to get by on $1k.

    • @Roshida
      @Roshida  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Roshida The Philippines
It’s certainly possible to live in the Philippines on $1,000 a month by subsisting on rice and chicken fat, living in a remote area, using roosters as alarm clocks, and adopting roaches as household pets. However, that’s probably not the lifestyle most people in this commuity are aspiring to.
Your advice is spot-on as always. I hope people take it to heart and create personal budgets that align with their ideal lifestyle.

Good content. I feel as if I’m not moving too fast but not fast enough. It’s easier to procrastinate and end up stuck in USA than it is to re-configure after we are abroad right?

I want to move but 1.) I’m not sure where, 2.) The method I have in mind (studying abroad) is expensive and I don’t have the funds yet. 3.) My partner is in nursing school. 4.) Even once he’s out of school, i don’t know how he’d work abroad, I know work visas aren’t easy and he’d still be a new nurse with little experience.

    Love the video!
I’m definitely planning to move abroad at some point but I just moved from Ohio to back to South Carolina so my goal is to wait 2 years, save money, and then move. Maybe I’ll decide to go sooner but that’s my intention.
#1 is definitely the trap I need to work hard to avoid. I always hear people talk about moving abroad to European countries and I need to reset my mind that that may not be a good fit for me. The morose Ohio weather was bad for my mental health, so moving to the UK is probably not a good fit 😅

Planning on moving to Namibia. What's holding me back? I plan to pay off these bills stateside first. I may just sell my home, and all the bills attached will also disappear and downsize and start fresh on the equity from the house.
I just want to do my due diligence in visiting. You brought up a good point that if i don't like a certain region/area, then i can simply move again. 🤔

Thanks for this discussion about mistakes that people make in moving abroad.I want to move to Chiang Mai, Thailand for 3 to 6 weeks in Jan. 2025. I attempted to join the Black Movers Facebook group but was declined, possibly because I only included my photo with no personal info. I'm a Black retired educator from Ga. I don't want to provide personal info. I want to communicate with one or two single Black women who have visited Chiang Mai and would be willing to answer my questions about the experience. I follow Queen of DC and her info is very helpful.

I'm going to check out Brazil in January and if I don't like it I'm gonna try South Africa. Funny (in a dark humor sort of way) but I started studying portuguese 6 months before the election, presuming the results we did indeed get in the US election. Gonna AirBNB first, apply for asylum in at least Brazil and maybe SA as well if it comes down to it. America DOOMED for sure, I was already done with this crap the first time Grabby-hands was elected, but due to a number of different issues I couldn't complete the move.
