South Africa's Black femcide rate terrifies me, though it is a global issue. Mexico, Costa Rica, Thailand, and Ecuador seem like viable options for me. I had never thought of Panama!🤗🥰 I have heard lovely things about Grenada and Barbados. I need to research further. Great video!
Great list. The only tweak I would make is that I personally liked Nairobi, Kenya more than any other city I have been to in Africa for a few reasons - (1) Much safer than just about anywhere in South Africa, (2) A ton of newly built and modern condos to choose from, (3) Super affordable (housing is about 35% cheaper than South Africa, food about 20% cheaper, and the other stuff like 10% cheaper), (4) Good community of African Americans that are working in NGOs or settled there permanently. Outside of Africa, I would recommend the Philippines which is where I have retired. They call Filipinos the black people of Asia - other Asians mean it in a derogatory manner but I see it as a point of strength.
Why in the world would you move to either one of those countries? Look at Los Angeles and how the Mexican despise the blacks; as for Portugal they were the first Europeans who started enslaving our people. Go to a black nation
Lisbon Portugal is my favorite city in the world. Moved here two years ago and it’s the best decision we’ve made as a family. One thing to think about is the size of the Black community and what kinds of Black folks are in that country. In Portugal, it’s doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs, retirees, creatives etc.
I visited Lisbon almost 10 years ago and fell head over heels for the city and the country. I’ll most likely visit again in the coming year because I am scouting for a new country to live in. Glad to see bw living abroad and thriving!
Hey! I agree as usual with Chiang Mai! I’ve been here for a few years with kids and it’s home. I have been learning Thai and although it’s confusing I still try. Learning Thai isn’t necessary. You can get what and where you need just fine without it. There is a small black community here of course people come and go just like any other place. Nice, affordable, easy and peaceful❤
Love 💗 this list! I “expated” to Jamaica 🇯🇲 back during covid shutdowns. Definitely challenging but I love it. Went to Panama City 🇵🇦 couple months ago, 👍 on my retirement list. Loved it!
Interested in the choice of Johannesburg. It was an interesting and well maintained city. Currently the infrastructure is crumbling, key infrastructure components such as access to water is becoming erratic, road maintenance. South Africa has a serious GBV epidemic with inability, incapacity on the part of authorities to deal with. I’m hesitant to visit Cape Town, for example, despite previously living there…on account of escalating crime and extortion gang activity.
Thanks for the info! I recently visited Grenada🇬🇩 with a friend who is from there and who's building a home to move back for retirement. We actually stayed in the house, so I got to experience living among the natives. I'm from a small town, so it felt like home for me. Transportation would be my primary challenge, because not "everyone" drives, and they drive on the left side. I'd love to go back and stay a while.
I’m a woman. Have lived in South Africa my whole life. Fear Mexico from the stories one reads online, and always puzzled how Americans love Mexico so much but at the same portray it as crime infested. It’s exactly the same with South Africa, reality is vastly different from the myths,. The white people from America are not bothered at all by their nation’s propaganda against us, they’ve been here for ever. All inward flights are full of them hotfooting it to South Africa. Not that we are desperate to have people come to our country, we just have a soft spot for our black America brothers and sisters and we know this to be the best country for people who look like us, if one considers ALL things pertaining to what makes a great place to be for us. Have lived in the Us and Europe, and travelled everywhere else. Would choose South Africa over and over. We do not tolerate disrespect for our laws and our people. We hate chaos and do react when it affects us, which has made us enemy number one to some of our fellow Africans who live here and insist on recreating the chaos they left behind in their countries when they fled from poverty. They refuse to adapt, choosing to create mini-Lagos/Congo/Somalia enclaves where they try to do as they do back in their countries. We’re not America. We do not want such things here.
Good morning! Ohhh, I like your list! Panama is definitely on my radar, but I'm warming up to SE Asia so it's cool you mentioned Thailand. Thanks for the insights on all these spots!
I am heading to Lisbon and Porto in 2 weeks and staying to scout out the area. I was in Albufeira in June and I know the area well. I've been to several countries in Africa, and I would consider retiring there, as well. Being from the Caribbean- dual citizenship- I have a few options there too. I want to give myself at least 4-6 months regarding my exit plan.

I loved living in CDMX. The weather and people ❤ I don't like humid, sticky weather nor bugs so tropical areas don't appeal to me. After MX I returned back to Europe and am gettintg ready to do more slow travel after the holidays.
Lisbon, Portugal 🇵🇹 is a wonderful place to live. I do know this much though..Portugal played an integral role in the Transatlantic Slave Trade. I can’t move there but I wish BW well who do. 🤗 ♊️ 👩🏽 💫 Edit: Because of the headspace I am in right now I need to be around my people. @Roshida I moved to Belgrade in 2022 after living in Paris. I went with an open mind and gave myself a week to determine if it would be a good fit (I've been abroad for 10 years, so I only need a week to see if a country meets my needs). I fell in love with the city, the people, was able to set up my company, established my brand, met someone special, Ive made friends, found a community to be part of, and love that Serbia (former Yugoslavia) has no history of racism or anti-Blackness (African students were studying here ad far back as the 1950s!). Serbia is an unusual place, but I lived in many unusual places (Kazakhstan), so I had no idea what to expect. But, this country loves me, and I love it! Have you ever been to Serbia or The Balkans?
WE NEED NOT TO BRING THE TOXICITY FROM THE UNITED STATES 🇺🇸 (BABYLON) WITH US, BECAUSE IF WE DO IT WILL TURN THE PLACES THAT WE MOVE TO INTO ANOTHER CESSPOOL!!!!
Panama and Merida, Mexico are my 1st and 2nd options. I need an easy move and heat doesn't bother me. Also, I like that the airport in Panama will allow me to travel. I would like to see all of Latin America and Asia and Europe and of course the continent of Africa. So I want my cost of living to be as low as possible, so that I can visit lots of places on the globe. I really need another stream of income to make my travel dreams come true. @CheriG870 you're welcome. Other SE Asian countries like the Philippines, Vietnam & Cambodia are LGBTQ friendly, as long as not too much PDA even for hetero couples. (Holding hands is OK.) If you stay in the touristy areas, they're used to foreigners and will leave you alone, whether you're straight or not, or whatever race you are. (I think PH may be 2nd to TH in terms of LGBTQ friendliness in SE Asia.) There may be some colorism & racism but it's not overt. You won't get pulled over or assaulted because of skin color. There's colorism because it's more of a class thing (peasants / poor ppl have jobs outdoors = darker skin, rich ppl stay indoors = lighter skin). Most of the countries (except TH) have been colonized by Europeans, so they have eurocentric beauty standards but many or most of the population are brown (depends on country; some are more yellow than brown).
@Roshida can you please slow down when you're listing websites and links? It's hard to understand and follow you. Having to rewind 5 or 6 times on TH-cam which is not easy can be a drag. Thank you.

I'm not planning to leave New York City. So, this question is not for me, but I notice you're not mentioning how things work out for Black LGBTQ+ folks in these locations. We know there are countries with retrogressive social and legal realities that threaten or harm queer people. In some places (e.g., Ghana and other African nations), it's getting worse. Any thoughts about how this plays out in the countries/cities you've mentioned?
While Thai isn't as transportable as Spanish. People do speak it in Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia. It's almost like a dialect somewhat like Spanish in Mexico, Spain, or Ecuador. It may not translate 100% but it is understood.
Hi Stacey - That's what I was saying. 💛 You can speak it in other countries, but it's not the official language in any other countries I'm aware of. Thai may be spoken by some people in Vietnam, but is not going to be as helpful in Vietnam as Vietnamese is.

Watch the language "Black/African American" doesn't describe who we are. Foundation Black American (FBA) does. If it doesn't say "FBA" it's not talking to or about us. Other races have black skin and originate from Africa but are not FBA.
Black people love Portugal...but does Portugal like Black people? They have history with the slave trade, which is why Blacks in Brazil speak Portuguese.
If you're FBA, you know that America is your homeland...period. FBA built this country (before America was America) so to leave and start over in another country whose laws are against FBA is not what our ancestors died for.

There’s no safe place on earth to be a woman because we live in a patriarchal society.

@ thanks for your reply. I feel the exact same regarding your descriptions. However I would live in a beach area. I like the scenery of PV but felt like it’s more for families like Merida. Have a great afternoon.
France TUCKED my friends 🎉❤😊
I heard that Portugal was racist.
No there s no mass exodus at all
Why Portugal?! That was the starting point of the transatlantic slave trade. 😢
True, but times have changed. Within Europe, Portugal is considered a very good option.
I think Nairobi, Kenya is a glaring omission from your list.
ANGOLA 2O29!! ... THE CLOSING OUT OF THE 2019-2029 DECADE OF RETURN AND THE OPENING OF THE 2029-2039 DECADE OF MENTAL HEALTH WELLNESS AND HEALING FOR THE AFRIKAN WORLD. ... THEME: BLACK WOMEN LEAD!!
When you talk about places for black women is your advice just for women or people ?
Watch the language "Black/African American" doesn't describe who we are. Foundation Black American (FBA) does. If it doesn't say "FBA" it's not talking to or about us. Other races have black skin and originate from Africa but are not FBA.
Johannesburg, South Africa 🇿🇦 is my plan B from Amerikkka. 🤗 ♊️ 👩🏽 💫
Its worst in India
What countries is good for the black gay women to live in safe
We love Johannesburg as well❤
Jamaica and Barbados are in the hurricane belt so those wouldn't be good options to live long-term.
Black people love Portugal...but does Portugal like Black people? They have history with the slave trade, which is why Blacks in Brazil speak Portuguese.
Who doesn’t have a history with the slave trade?
@@Roshida LOL
Black Americans are not leaving the USA because by 2025 trump will make America greater
I..left in 1996
After law school
Great move..
Best thing that
Could happen to
A black man..
The world's love you
If you're FBA, you know that America is your homeland...period. FBA built this country (before America was America) so to leave and start over in another country whose laws are against FBA is not what our ancestors died for.
Speak for yourself !
@@lolakepi Our ancestors speak thru us!!
Belgrade Serbia in Eastern Europe is a very underrated city to live in…. Food and housing prices are cheap
