    Hi Mick. A lovely video that, despite the active second session, I found very "gentle" and soothing...a wonderful antidote to the hectic last week or two. I hope that you had a good Christmas and I wish you a happy, healthy and peaceful 2022. Tight Lines as we say. Cheers. Ken

    Super video as always, thanks Rod. It's over an hour's drive for me to the Crouch from the big smoke, but always a nice experience. Those whiting do get a bit tiresome at some point...But the bass and skate make up for them. Happy Christmas and thanks for all the vids.

    I fished the river orwell yesterday near to the old Ipswich power station that was demolished years ago
    I fished off the wall as it gets deep at high tide and it's also a lovely view of the Orwell Bridge
    Had one little bass and surprised to get a few small whiting to i am shocked they come down that far from felixstowe on the flood tide
    Great video

    Hi Mike,
    First time of looking I found your video. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Liked, subscribed and clicked the bell. I moved to Burnham-On-Crouch nearly 3 years ago and always windered where and wherher I could fish the river. Your video answered my question. Could you tell me where I can get bait please. Many years ago I fished the Thames from Holehaven Creek to Southend from a boat. I worked for Mobil and the sea angling section of the sports club had a 32ft Mitchell boat. Seeing your video has made me want to get back into sea fishing. Looking forward to your future videos and wish you all the best. One day I may see you near the marina or along the rivers edge.
    Kind regsrds,
    Barry

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Barry - a lot of the time I get my bait from Dungeness or Clacton, coinciding with trips to Kent or Tendring. I used to dig my own in Southend, but haven't done so for a while. I'm not sure where the nearest tackle shop would be to you that sells sea bait - perhaps someone else looking at these comments might help?

    • @landbk5015
      @landbk5015 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for that. I shall search some more. Your brilliant videos of you fishing places I have lived in or near for all my 79 years have inspired me to get back into sea fishing.

    What would we do without whiting in the winter ! Are you using barbless hooks, as several fish dropped off and they were easily unhooked . Best wishes for Christmas and next year.

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes - whiting save the day when nothing else is about. Those that fall off are lightly hooked. I find that using braid and striking at bites, rather than letting fish hook themselves, tends to result in more fish being lip hooked, so its easier to remove hooks and most fish go back unharmed.

    Hi mick, Great video mate. I’m going to burnham tomorrow afternoon and I was going to ask if u think there would be decent sized bass or flat fish about. I went hythe beach last week but nothing much other than dog fish and a tonne of whiting

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good luck - bass will be showing soon. The schoolies have arrived in quite large numbers on Southend beaches, so should be appearing in the Crouch. Did I just meet you in a tackle shop? I fished Hythe yesterday and had a reasonable day and included a plaice for my efforts.

    Hey there
    I've been following your videos last few months
    Me and a few guys are Westcliff/ southend based
    We've been blanking abit and could use some advice
    We've tried Thorpe Bay, south fambridge and Canvey
    Any advice you could give would be great

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thorpe Bay marks should pick up over the next couple of weeks, with the chance of flounders and small bass returning. Similar at Holehaven Creek. Elsewhere in our area, small bass will appear in numbers as it continues to warm up and there should be the odd ray in the Crouch to herring. Good luck and thanks for watching.

      Find the lug worm beds when the tides out and fish crab on them you'll get your worm baits stripped in minutes
