They don’t have blood oil billionaire owners and they do have half of the revenue than most clubs in Europe. Borussia Dortmund has more money than Atleti. Are you daft? The money Atleti has is because the manager brings in it every year with his success. Finishing 3rd or higher in the table every year keeps the club without debt. Simeone earns that.

Simeone is a success story. Atleti was not competing at this level before he took over, He built that sporting project from the ground and disrupted the stranglehold between Real and Barca, without making huge signings or costing his team a lot. Now that Atleti are a bigger club, and always go far in the UCL, everyone has something to say about how he should play and how much he should earn. I think The salary is fair and well earned. most clubs should take note and build for the future.

After he took over they won Europa league multiple time, uefa super cup, la liga twice during the Ronaldo Messi era, UCL finalists twice, domestic cups, Knocked out huge clubs in the UCL eg. Bayern, Liverpool etc. Moved into a brand new world class Stadium. Even though they are competing with the two biggest global clubs in Football.

Simeone brought stability and identity to Atletico. He’s basically the face and heart of Atletico now.
If it weren't for Simeone, Atletico Madrid would be still a mid table to relegation fodder team. The man turned them to legit title contenders and won La Liga twice amid Barcelona and Real Madrid dominating through his his time. Respect Simeone for that feat.

At Atletico de Madrid, who does not have multi billionaire owners to fund the operation, the results and success on the pitch is what holds it together therefore Simeone makes what he makes as he receives percentages of the money his success bring to the club. He has quadrupled the annual earnings of the club. Potter and Ten Hag have not made their owners any money!! Therefore they have salaries. It’s simple economics.

It’s not a salary, he gets a percentage of the money he makes for the club with the team’s success. He has quadrupled the annual earnings of the club. Most clubs have billionaire owners already. Atleti does not. Simple economics. If he makes them a lot of money he gets a lot of money back. From that money then he has to pay all of his staff so all that money does not all to him.

Because he is able to do what Wenger used to do for Arsenal. He is able to get them top four and Champions League money every year basically while not spending much on players. The club pays him so they don't have to spend big money on players.
Simeone gets paid what he gets paid because of the money he brings in, which is money they didn’t have before he arrived. He has quadrupled the annual revenue for the club so he gets a percentage. All the other coaches play for clubs that had money prior so they receive salaries. Simeone received percentages and from that money he pays his staff. So the 34M€ gets divided into parts to also pay the salary of his assistants etc… Atleti do not have billionaire owners like City or Chelsea that can open the wallet and pay for players. The money comes from results. From merit on the pitch. That money is used to pay for the salary of players they have on payroll plus all other expenses, including the percentage owed to the manager for making that money. Simple economics if you know how businesses work.
