    Thinking this might be my issue instead of the heater core, my jeep isn't warming up, freezing my ass off in upstate NY, it stopped coming up to running temp, was getting fairly warm not the guage is showing it staying on about the 3rd line on the guage, that's even after a warm up and 6 to 10 mile drive , not heat just a little warm... Hopefully Monday , 43° is gonna be a heat wave after all the snow we been getting... BTW, love the gasket, never thought of that, and I've used the roll cork gasket for years lol 😜

    I have a 1993 Jeep Wrangler and I've been searching all over TH-cam for 'How to" videos and 99% of them are junk. You sir speak my language and make it easy to understand. I've watched most of your videos and they've helped me work on my YJ. Just letting you know that you're doing an awesome job man. keep it up! Also, it's winter time and it's cold as hell driving it from point A to B and it just won't heat up. I've driven about 30 miles and it's still cold. Do you think that it could be my thermostat?

      Hey .. thanks for the great comments!! Very happy they help you out!! I enjoy making these little videos. I grew up working on cars learning as I go. So when I go to making the video I try to make it step by step and simple as possible ... without making it too long. As for your YJ, the thermostat would be the first thing I would check. It can be stuck open or not have one at all. If you do replace it get at least a 195 deg. Some people swear by the 205 degree. I personally run the 195. The PO (previous owner) removed the thermostat in mine. It would not warm up .. I was freakin cold!! Installed the 195,its much much better but Im still not gonna bake a turkey in there. LOL

    Got a question : It seems like you put a lot of that black gasket maker around the thermo. Won't it come loose and float around inside the pump and radiator??

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can add too much. There isn't as much as it seems on there. But, yes you are correct. If too much is used pieces can break off and circulate through the system. Most of the time it doesn't hurt anything.

      The only sensor I haven't covered it the cam shaft position sensor. Here is the playlist of sensor videos: th-cam.com/play/PL8Fz_3RM9QXaZNgPN5efC7MD5puBqrfaW.html

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      For high idle. The first sensor I'd test is the throttle position sensor. I worked on a Mustang about 2 weeks ago that had a very high idle and It was the TPS. The other culprit would be the Idle control motor attached to the throttle body. I haven't yet created a video of testing it yet.

  • @Bromalear

    Even though I know this video is old, your serpentine belt looks like it needs replacing. It looks to have some pretty deep horizontal cracks running through the ridges and if allowed to go too long like that, there's a high likelihood that it will snap which could lead to some major damage. They're usually around 20 bucks and are pretty easy to swop out. Just thought I'd let you know :)

    is this thermostat what sends temperature to the temp gauge in the jeep

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jonathan Cavignac Nope .. that temp sensor is on the drivers side of the cylinder dead at the very back. It will have one lonely wire attached to it.

      Nice video, I noticed your serpentine belt is dry rotted and cracked. Did it ever break? I realize the video is from 2013.

      Hopefully soon I'll be doing an engine overhaul. You may get an idea of what to expect as the engine is tore down and put back together. When is this video going to happen? Not totally sure to be honest. Within the next couple of months hopefully. If I run across a good head gasket video I'll tag it in for you.
