  • Tennis Two-Handed Backhand | 3 Steps To The Perfect Two Hander
    In this video Top Tennis Training coaches, Simon Konov and Alex Slabinsky will help you perfect your double-handed backhand using 3 simple steps.
    The initial thing to focus on is your grip and how you wait in the ready position. After you identify that the ball is coming to your backhand, the 3 steps are -
    1. A good unit turn and moving sideways onto the ball (can have your chin touching your right shoulder in this position to aid the turn)
    2. Reaching a good power position with the racket head up higher than the grip level generating good leverage (force over the ball) and space to accelerate the racket
    3. A good finish with a full rotation of the shoulders and hips, including the back leg and finishing with the racket and arms over your right shoulder (if right-handed)
    Follow these three steps and you will see a huge difference already in your backhand.
    Video Timeline:
    00:00 Intro
    00:22 - Which grip should you wait with?
    2:14 - Unit Turn (step one)
    4:17 - Power Position (step two)
    8:26 - The Finish (step three)

      what are your thoughts on using forehands? one left and one right

    • @3HighEnergy
      @3HighEnergy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you teach the 2-hander you make a unit turn and your right heel comes up before you step forward. But when you hit the ball you step back with your left foot as you make the unit turn. You don't mention anything about stepping back in your explanation. Please explain.

    I had an unlock on my backhand (I’m a USTA 4.5) yesterday after working with my Slinger and videotaping, thought I would mention in case it helps others. I found that my racquet in the ready position wasn’t fully perpendicular to the back wall, so that my stroke was shortening on the backhand and thus losing significant power and control. It is essential to feeling “ready” that on the backhand you get the racquet back fully or else you don’t have proper leverage when swinging through. This video demonstrates it perfectly but for anyone not advanced, check yourself by videotaping from behind to see where your racquet is positioned before moving forward to the ball strike!

    I love this video and one aspect I actually want to incorporate more into my game but something they missed that’s worth noting to begening we who fit already know this
    Although your power stance get your raquette high and above the ball you must at some point out the raquette below the ball so that you can hit up and generate too spin
    2. I recommend thinking about it mentally as if you are using your left hand for power instead of your right, this just always seemed to make it easier for me

      Hi Simon, yes in fact I was also watching the videos on footwork yday which are really good, what I am looking for mostly is the techniques used for hitting the ball on the run and also playing players that are hitting lofty and slow balls, getting the timing right on these are crucial and high balls, whether to hit early or wait for the ball to return into the forehand zone.i seem to make mistakes here

    Hi Guys!
    I'm swapping my backhand from one hand to double handed so I began with TTT videos and studying.
    Checking big champions backhand I realized the importance of the rear shoulder. As far as I see, for example watching Djokovic slomo, left shoulder seems to me to be the real driver of the whole shot. It is pushed up to the backside fence and, from then on, during the whole movement, its working line remains above the right one helping the coverage of the ball in the topspin. Together with the right distance of elbows from the torso, I believe it is a point to focus on.

    Best video I've ever seen so far about the backhand. Contains just valuable and useful informations, and goes straight to them, without getting lost in useless stuff, but with nice and good examples. Loved it

    This is really nice video. It is very informative too. Thank you very much. I have watched it many times and I even made my own "manual" of your positions to remember, when going to practice senior tennis again tomorrow. We are a group of 60 to 83 years old tennis players. I started only 2,5 years ago. Earlier I have taught youngsters when I had not played at all myself. Now I am 72. :)

      @@TopTennisTrainingOfficial I've tried the backhand after watching this video and what I can say? Your suggestions worked!! Of course, I still have to work on it, but at least now I feel that I'm heading in the right direction :D thanks guys!!
      I was wondering if you could do a quick video about the kick serve? That move is as hard as it's effective so it's hard to find a video that clearly explains how to do it.. thanks again guys!!

    Thank you so much for your excellent videos! I have recently taken up tennis again after a 20 years break, and just watching your forehand and backhand videos helped bring everything back, so helpful! I did learn all this a long time ago but had forgotten the details and lost confidence. It worked really well for me!

    As a right handed player--taking the power from the body out of the equation--which arm should be more responsible for driving the power of the shot? Pulling with right hand or pushing with left hand? Or 50/50?
    My arms always feel weird on my backhand, I think it's because I played baseball for so long and am used to swinging a bat with two hands.

    • @TopTennisTrainingOfficial
      @TopTennisTrainingOfficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Top hand for sure. If your bottom hand is the one "powering" the shot then you're doing something wrong.
      Look at it as a left-handed forehand with help from the right hand.
      60-40 for most strokes. Here are more videos on the two-hander - th-cam.com/play/PLJP-Wou-v6z1KTlDs89p0Y-yGwyF-We6e.html

    Excellent tips. Thanks a lot. Also it would be nice if you explain about racquet face angle at the time of contact. I generally close my racquet face a bit for my forehand which gives very nice spin. But not able to reproduce similar results in my two handed backhand
