Gardner Engines 2. In which an engine gets started...

The ongoing conservation of Glala. Our Gardner 6LXBs were rebuilt around 10 years ago and although we've cranked them (previous video!) we thought it would be good to check they started... and we've had one of the starters rebuilt.
Doing Up Doris is the story of how we are conserving Glala - a 78' wooden boat - a part of the National Historic Fleet, thought to be one of the very first, if not the first, and is probably the oldest surviving example of a twin-screw British-built diesel motor yacht, and she's a Dunkirk Little Ship. We aim to get her in the water - after being on land since 2009 - next year (2023). The project, so far, is entirely self-funded...
