    I think it’s wildly understated in this video just how difficult working with 3d printed threads is. I’ve managed to sand everything down from the prints to fit my helicoid but getting the retaining ring in for the rear element (haven’t gotten to the front one yet) is nearly impossible to the point where I believe I may have actually bent the aluminum retaining ring in trying to get it to fit into the threads. Really cool idea but exceptionally difficult to accomplish.

    • @ItsDrewsif
      @ItsDrewsif ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, quick update: in my attempts to remove said retaining ring I’ve actually managed to apply enough pressure to crack the entire thread portion of the 3d print rear element. My only hope now is to be able to very precisely break the ring so that it successfully holds the lens element in place.

    • @ItsDrewsif
      @ItsDrewsif ปีที่แล้ว

      And that’s exactly what I did! I ended up taking a flat head screwdriver and a rubber mallet and very very carefully forcing the retaining ring down against the rear element. It works and it stays, but the rear 3d print gets even *more* stuck against the helicoid when trying to focus. Smooth focus throws are not going to happen with this.
      Front element and ring, ironically went in without a hitch. Now I’m just waiting on a 72mm to m65 adapter ring from RAF Camera to attach it to my Sankor 16-D.

    Thanks for all these amazing videos, man! They've been very educational and I've enjoyed them a ton. For this adapter it says the files are available via your Discord server. The link, however, seems to go to a server that's been shut down. I recently got a Schneider Super Cinelux 2, the dreaded one with the crazy front, and am exploring how to make it functional. Are the 3D files for the focuser still kicking around somewhere? Thank you!

    Hey Tito. Thanks a lot for the videos. They've been a huge help. I have a question for you: If you were gonna use the slr magic 2x50 adaptor on the S5, what do you think would be the ideal lens focal length to pair it with? Would you recommend or discourage this pairing? Thanks!

    • @AnamorphicOnABudget

    Aye Brother Tito!
    I just did some mods to this exact Focus module you sold me.
    This thing is really sharp and clears with a 50mm taking lens on my GH5 using the ES CineLux.
    One question I had was is it possible to use a 0.7x Wide Angle Adapter with larger elements or is 0.45x Wide Angle adapters best?

    • @AnamorphicOnABudget
      @AnamorphicOnABudget  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Pfocus uses a 0.7x wide angle adapter. This one uses a 0.45x. I think the results with the Pfocus are much cleaner. You can join the channel to see the assembly process! :)

      @AnamorphicOnABudget  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Konstantin! That's beyond what I tried to learn of it. I didn't get to measure the power of each element. If you watch the video on the Pfocus, you'll see how one is a negative and the other a positive diopters, and a general idea of how it works.:)

    I had real problems with the stl's the front part to fit it onto the helicoid its inner diameter was 1 mm off, the threads where a bit too tight so the tension rings got stuck in the back part. Causing me to cut the printed piece to save the parts.
    So yea i probably have to adapt the stls to make it fit correctly.
    If only i had the 3d files. any idea whom i could email for it?

    • @AnamorphicOnABudget

    • @themassau
      @themassau 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AnamorphicOnABudget I eventually made a simpler system where i reuse the front metal part by printing an adapter ring that converts its diameter to the inside diameter of the helicoid. (3mm thick) this allowed it to double press fit it together.
      A good trick to avoid super glue stains is to use a hair dier for the first 5 minutes and then try to add a fan for some extra air movement. i.e. it is caused by moisture + stationary vapors.

    • @themassau
      @themassau 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zeuduslao I never really got it to work and kinda gave up on it. I.e. i didn't fouces properly.
      What i ended up doing was printing a very tight fitting ring to adapt the front element into the helicoid directly. This was strong enough to hold the front element in place and thus i could reuse the metal part.
