Wow! What an amazing story going to the house clearance. Stone Roses, The Cure, Curtis Mayfield, Jr Walker, Funkadelic, Songs of the Key of Life, Communards, Siouxie and the Banshees, Aztec Camera, Purple Rain, Tracy Chapman. For me, that's like winning the lottery, especially at £2 each! Thank goodness you got there just before the other chap and got first dibs!
There is quite a difference between the Pink Floyd dsotm 1st UK press and all other presses, blue triangle is the most common (also found on the 1st Japanese press from the same time), album cover is different as well (only one side of the gatesleeve is open) and then there's the stickers and posters... The original stickers are printed by “Fastprint” and have the word”Crackback” printed on the back. Also have 45 degree angle lines printed on the back. These are swapped out a lot with older stickers by people who want to sell you a complete UK 1st press. The original two posters have distinct characteristics, the “Pyramid poster” can be matte or glossy but has no serial number printed on the bottom left corner. The group poster again can be matte or glossy but have the number “SHVL 804” at the bottom right corner. Also the paper quality of the first press posters are inferior to the later or foreign ones. Also the inner sleeve is a black, with a poly lined inner and has a patent number and the text “made in Great Britain” on the bottom corner.
Many thanks for the detailed answer! I've got a blue triangles in really nice condition, but never had the stickers or the posters, so wasn't sure if they differed much. The Dark Side that I picked up the other day is a 5th press. The cards definitely have the 45 degree stripes. One of the posters definitely has the SHVL 804 on the bottom corner. I'll need to check which it is. The posters are both matte finishes. If they are the same I'll probably swap them out to make up a complete first press. Cheers for the info and thanks for watching, Jack
Strike while the irons hot ! That why I didn't blink when I got the call for my UK vinyl buy.. Love your channel, and we're cut from the same cloth, pretty much.😊 Good work on keeping " Untitled" Gene Clark's son Kai was the singer/ songwriter of our band in the 90's
I met Kai, Gene's son, a year after his Dad past in LA ( Laurel Canyon ). We hit it off musically right away ! 1993 ) Kai is an original like his father.. A bunch of his stuff is available online. We did original rock, folk rock, and 90's alternative songs as Mary Underground out of Lake Tahoe and San Diego. In 2000, we finally parted ways and are still great friends, we are both family men now ! I was his lead guitarist and co arranger. Thanks, Jack 🎵
So.. I never met Gene. The only Byrd I met was Skip Battin ( 1994 ).. I really got inundated with everything The Byrds from that point on, although we only wrote original songs !
Damn right he was going to wait to go through those records! You were kind to leave him some Carpenters. Glad it worked out so well for you. Lots of records you showed I would like to have in my possession!
To be honest Mark, there was a fair bit of decent stuff left behind. I was a bit pushed for time and skimmed the collection in about ten minutes. I'm pretty sure I took all the big hitters, but left behind some Blondie, Dire Straits, Genesis and other stuff that I would have probably have grabbed if I had more time. The guy who was running the day was saying that he's going to open the house again in a fortnight, so I might go back and see if there's anything left over.
Thanks Christian, been enjoying Untitled this morning. I'm a massive Roses fan, so that was probably the pick of the bunch for me. Never owned it on vinyl and its near mint. Definitely, done for buying in July now.
@@TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf Hi Jack, I am very pleased to hear you have been enjoying ‘Untitled’ and great to learn you are a massive Roses fan too, as am I 👍🏻 You did so well to get an original copy of their album in such great condition - and for £2! “Holiday weight”…”You’re f’n right you’ll be waiting” 😂…Coming in hot with that Dylan album. Love it. Aztec Camera! That CCR collection is essential. Marley’s “Legend” got me through many party nights in my first year at university in /87. Amazingly it still sounds unscathed on my turntable! I have that Runrig on CD. Kate Bush, my favorite album of hers. I have a copy of The Cure’s Japanese Whispers on CD. I would rock out to Rainbow “Rising”…🤘Beautiful Pink Floyd Dark Side and Cream too. What a treasure chest you found Jack!
Definitely got lucky with this haul! The Roses debut, Disraeli Gears and the Byrds albums are probably my favourites. I'm not too fussed about first presses unless they are really worth keeping. The Siouxsie I reckon with a felt top you could colour in the missing bits. Nice one, congratulations.
Yep, that lad definitely moved from the CDs at the wrong time. I was in a real hurry and no doubt left some good stuff behind so I'm sure he still got a decent haul himself. Doesn't really sound like the first guy there was much of a collector. I sympathize with the guy that was there first and was told 10 pounds each. I don't know how many times I've been screwed over with sellers playing games like that. It's on the seller, not on you.
Hi Mick, the other guy was actually more of a cd collector so wasn’t overly bothered. I think the seller just reassessed and decided he’d get shot of the records quicker at £2. Obviously, it was a big drop and I was just in the right place at the right time! Cheers for watching, Jack

Cheers
😃 Cheers Dean! It’s all about getting there first. I get that at car boot sales… advertised on line starting at 8am and there’s people hunting from just after 6.30. Nice score on the jazz… I’m not too clued up on jazz and have probably left some great/valuable jazz records behind in the past.
Great story there Jack. Good finds. The Byrds one I’d be well chuffed if I got (got it on a very early CD).
Siouxie, Aztec. Tom Petty. Funkadelic, Prince, Kate, Rainbow, That Norwegian Canadian lady and Stone Roses. They’d all found a home with me! 😊
Odd thing, I’ve been watching videos about the Picts all day. Not leared anything new 😄
Cheers Jack.
That “Norwegian Canadian lady”! 😂Thank you for the education, I’ve been digging into Norwegian ancestry over the last few days and discovered a few things 🥳 Just going to stick on that Byrds record and start reading up on the Picts 🇳🇴🏴
@@TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf 😆 Looking forward to what you find! When I think how do I spell how people with your scottish accent says ‘Picts’ in Norwegian, I think it would be PÆKTS! 🤓

Looks like rolf harris on the thumbnail
😖That's about the harshest thing anyone has ever said to me!!!! 😆 Need to spend more time on the thumbnails in future or lose the beard. Cheers for the heads up, I suppose!
