    Hi I'm Larry Anam, former New England Patriots Defensive Back and CoachUp Coach. And this is tackling.
    I'm sorry. That felt, that felt better. Nice job. Nice acting job, though. Nice acting job.
    As a cornerback, it's essential you keep the ball inside so whenever you do make a tackle, you always go outside.
    When you tackle, you wanna make sure you have a nice leverage. Squat down. Keep your head up. You have to see exactly what you hit. Do not strike with your head. Sink your hips down. Pay attention to his hips. His hips are always gonna tell you exactly where he's going. Once he makes a move, down with his hips, and bring him down.
    CoachUp is a service that connects athletes with private coaches. We believe that private coaching is the secret to reaching the next level in sports + life. With thousands of coaches across the country, and hundreds of training sessions happening every day, we are the nation's leading private coaching company. We are also a team of athletes and coaches, including our founders, Jordan Fliegel (basketball) and Arian Radmand (sailing). And we are dedicated to our mission: help kids change the trajectory of their lives through sports.

    This really helped me a lot I started off as a weak football player who couldn't even make a tackle but after being more active and mentally strong I have developed into a great football player

      Yeah I'm the sickie at tackler on my team because I can't make a tackle😢 and I try tackling like that but they put their head down so I can't get low enough😭and tbh I'm afraid to get hit. Or even trucked.

      For real though, it's in the mind. As long as you get low you should be cool.

      +That gonzo Girl you just have to bend your knees trust me the tackler can always get lower than the ball carrier because even you're running the ball you can only get your shoulder so low

    Retired high level rugby player specialised in D. First hit a tackle pad without arms, make contact with shoulder start leg drive. Aim to place lead foot inbetween the opponents feet will put you in the perfect range. The biggest causes of missed tackles are positioning, arm tackles, blinking and fear. That initial shoulder contact eliminates arm tackling, eliminates positioning as making the contact puts your feet in the right area and distance. Second stage: add arm wrap after the shoulder contact, make it quick and sharp to wraparound the contact area and squeeze. The squeezing motion promotes the leg drive. Finally put all three steps together and rep.
    Note. Some coach to put your head in front of the player. Don't. Seahawks have picked up rugby method to cut down on head injury and due to having to take less extreme angles when coming in for a tackle on the side as that way it easier for ball carriers to step into the inside and avoid tackles. Look up rugby method if unsure

    This is so weird coming from rugby. We literally put our head on the other side. But then again we don't wear helmets so if we get a leg to the head we're out

    • @nahhfam7678
      @nahhfam7678 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Teams are beginning to change to rugby method because of the concussion risk and neck injuries associated with putting your head across in a tackle.

      That's a smart move. I understand that they hit harder in the NFL cause they have pads and helmets, but they hit a lot smarter in rugby

    Entra mal al placaje
    pone la cabeza en el lado interior, lo que podría ser peligroso para el cuello y además está llegando con las manos, cuando al placaje se entra con el hombro (posteriormente ayudado de los brazos)

    The ball carrier is not always gonna be standing up. They will try to get low and drive through you. What do you do in that situation?

    If you younger people would like the young version of this here it is:
    Get low, look up, put your facemask on the ball, drive your feet

    But what about a runningback like Marshawn Lynch or Eddie Lacy who does not stop not matter what happens, always fight for every yard? The kind where you tackle them on the line of scrimmage, then its 2 & 5 next thing you know? What about tackling those guys?

      Jahn Noyiz Tackle lower, like it's a double leg takedown or a rugby tackle. Can't run when somebody wraps behind your knees.

    • @nahhfam7678
      @nahhfam7678 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Look up a "fall back tackle" will lose a yard or two in a American football setting but is extremely effective. Personally at a high level I've brought down much bigger guys that either of those two. Technique will always win out.

    Don't really want to teach tackling with that angle . Kids need to be taught to have there eyes up in the tackle progression. IMO

    Everything was great EXCEPT he let his legs fall to the ground instead of driving through the tackle
