    Excellent video. I'm looking at a 6X6 and the salesman said the windshield with the wiper would be an excellent addition. I never really saw one until I saw your video. Thanks for showing it. I'm deinitely having one of that type. I'm going fully enclosed cab as well.I have a brother who is 77 and I want him to be warm when we are travelling around in cold or rainy weather.

      Good choice! - The factory built cabs are much better than the dealer installed versions and they come with the glass windshield and wiper as standard! Plus the heater 😉 I'd love a 6x6! 😄

    Ahhh.... so? You retired the little Honda for a little more luxury? Fine lookin' machine. Was hoping for a little longer video of your trip with Esme. Those fully enclosed/heated SxS rigs are NICE during the winter. We used one for a while, up in the Arctic when I was working the oil fields. It was a Kubota diesel model. A tad cramped for leg room when working a 12 hour shift, but, I enjoyed that little rig a lot. I'll bet you love it more and more as you use it more.

    • @TheEmporiumOutdoors
      @TheEmporiumOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was just a teaser video on the new machine - I have a Snowtrekker / Can Am video I'm working on now. The rig is overkill but I'm hoping to get my moneys worth out of it with more extended video creation time during winter. Yea - they have some great equipment up on the norther oil fields. Would you ever go back working the rigs?

    Hey ! Beauty new ride ! Those Defenders are nice. I will say... keep an eye on those Tires, the 2.0's aren't as tough and don't last as long as the 1.0's. Especially seeing as your machine is really heavy. Big Horns are a great all around tire though and BH 1.0 is what I run on my ATV. Looking forward to new videos !

    • @TheEmporiumOutdoors
      @TheEmporiumOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ive heard the same thing about the 1.0 vs the 2.0s - It is a heavy machine @ 1800lbs plus cargo 😬 I might go for a 2" lift and some bigger 30" tires but that will be next year!

    Dude, Please tell me you kept the Argo too?! I hope you didn't get stuck once in the Argo and decide to trade it. Does the defender float? How do you cross the creeks, ponds, lakes, etc? I will be most curious to see this UTV in the deep snow without tracks. I was hoping you'd upgrade to an eight wheel Argo and trailer with tracks in the future. Sign..... It was our girlfriend Esme that made you do it, we see she was riding more than running in this video.

      Still have the Argo! Still deciding what to do there 🤨 You are right however, the Argo can go anywhere unlike the Can Am BUT the Can Am gives me range and speed to explore many more areas. What happened to the old Honda ATV? I can see quite a few mods I would do. I would for one change out the electric windows for manual, fit winches front and rear or use detachable winch with a front and rear mount, also I would fit a roof bar for better forward lighting with a possible swiveling spot light and also fit a comms antenna for a two way radio. I would also fit a second battery on a split charger system and lastly a series land rover style canvas hoop system. But this is what I would do.😀😀😀

    • @TheEmporiumOutdoors
      @TheEmporiumOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Eddy - I sold the Honda about 1 year ago for the Argo. I like some of the ideas and already have them in the works 😉 I wasn't happy about the electric windows - but there are no options. Manuals would have been better and less to go wrong, Im happy with the winch and in the many years riding UTV's in the bush, only one or twice have I ever wished for a rear winch. They are just not worth the effort/expense. I have a light bar upfront that adds a heap of light. I don't do much night riding, so a big light bar is not important. Second battery is on the books and the enclosed rear is also a work in progress (mentally). Great ideas! 👍

    I am of the same opinion as Maritime, need tougher tires like the QuadBoss QBT446, 8 ply radials. I put a set on my new wolverine X2 R spec at 300 miles. I have 800 miles and some change on it now with little ware on the tires. 6 Ply tires have a hard time lasting on heavy machines. My wolverine weight 1500 pounds I am sure a defender does also.

    • @TheEmporiumOutdoors
      @TheEmporiumOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like it so far - What I've found is there is no perfect machine. The P500 is great for the price but could benefit from a few upgrades. I wish they made a 54" wide machine, with an 800cc engine, full lockers all around, a dump box and an easy bench seat interior with optional cab 😃 Closest to that is the Polaris Ranger midsize but it has some major failings like the MacPherson strut front suspension.

      Hi Alice, the trail is an old cutline that is well travelled as it leads to many more further along. Its UTV/ATV travel only and has some tricky spots along the way, depending on the season 😉. Hi Nancy - I'm not sure of the future of the Argo just yet - but I will try the Can Am for as much as the winter it will still plough through the snow. My friend has a 2018 P500 and put some 28" tire on it and its pretty amazing in the snow! As its so light and has lots of torque - it pushes through a lot of stuff 😃

  • @outsideinalaskahawaii5987
    @outsideinalaskahawaii5987 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Phew! Not sure what the resource requirements are to keep both but they are two totally different tools. I would keep both but I like it slower than most, anything over 30 mph is asking for it if you hit something. The Argo with a 6 gal fuel can on the back doubles range , I will have two for triple. I can see The need for speed because you work for a living and have limited time to travel and film. Sooner or later you’ll be shooting multi-night videos. I think you should have the small Argo trailer. I didn’t ask but does the Can Am fit in the bed of the truck or did you go to a trailer to move it around?

    • @TheEmporiumOutdoors
      @TheEmporiumOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup - You got it! Very hard to compare the vehicles as they are worlds apart. I normally cruise down the gravel tracks @ 50kph, so I'm not a speed demon. The Argo tops out at 35kph but you feel like you are pushing the machine too fast. Typically I ride the Argo @ 25kph. As you astutely noted, my time camping is limited by work and family life, hence the shorter trips. My family is very accommodating with me camping on a 2 or 3 week schedule and I try to balance it out for all of us. Can Am is trailer only 😕 but I've been trailering the Argo more and more as its convenient. I'm limited for garage space so keeping both machines is possible but inconvenient. I'm really not sure what to do as I do enjoy the Argo very much.

    • @outsideinalaskahawaii5987
      @outsideinalaskahawaii5987 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I see few options: For the sake of family life sell the Argo knowing you’ll miss it dearly but get out there and back quickly, or sell it to the neighbor and borrow it when you get the lake crossing itch, or extend your garage with a cargo trailer parked next to it and store one in there. You have a flat bed trailer so a light weight lift top add on might be the economical way out making it an enclosed cargo trailer. Giving you can sustain both the defender and Argo. What is Esme’s vote? You’ll end up Doing it her way anyway. I wish I had your problem, I’d be switching between them. One in repair and the other in the woods. Never stuck at home cause I didn’t have a ride out to camp. Best wishes in the decision making.

      The tracks definitely add another dimension to winter use. Camso ( Camoplast) are a very good choice.
      The fuel consumption will greatly increase with them on.
      Will be a learning curve over the Argo on tracks. They will require more maintenance than the Argo's tracks as you will find if you go there.
      Bring a shovel and some short boards(2') for when you get stuck. Boards help when you get stuck on a tree and other obstacles the tracks won't like.
      Esme is going to love that quieter, warmer cab.

    Looks almost as capable as the Argo in big muddy areas. Comfortable place for Esme to ride, it appears. Do you keep all the other utvs you have bought? The only thing that concerns me is that my experience with piston-type braces, such as the one that holds the window open eventually fail; especially when they are bounced up and down alot. Too bad there's not some way you can clamp the windshield open. You didn't mention the undercarriage clearance, but it looks like there is plenty enough to prevent most high-centering.

    • @TheEmporiumOutdoors
      @TheEmporiumOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi David - It does seem to do well in the muddy areas but unlike the Argo - the cleanup in the truck wash is a pain afterwards. The Argo was awesome for dealing with heavy mud and snow as its a bathtub design - No mud ingress to the inner workings. I agree about the window and I don't think I'll ride with it in the open position much - It was more for demonstration purposes. It does lock in a slightly open position however. The tires are very good and have gotten me through some rough stuff so far 😉

      Hi Flobert - Personally I would avoid the Argo unless you need the water crossing ability. The Can Am with cab & tracks is cheaper than the 8x8 Argo with Rubber tracks, then you have to add the cab, heater etc etc. The ride of the Can Am is way superior than any Argo. Plus in the summer you can travel long distances with the Can Am unlike the Argo. Just a few thoughts! Hope that helps! 👍

I bought the OEM loom for the light bar but this was pointless to be honest. I was hoping there was a plugin under the hood I could just hook it up to! I wanted the light to be switched live (only able to use while the ignition was on) but I couldn't find a place to hook into. I might put a new + positive switched live distribution block under the drivers lower left glove box for other accessories and have it switched via a relay to provide switched live power.

    @gerrydrake1527 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just found your series. We have (our first) the same 2019 Can Am Defender XT10 but with the 4 door version. Rear door windows only open enough for ventilation which is fine, but curious if you found that the front doors have a draft problem as ours does. With a 10-12 mph wind from the side, there is a strong draft going down your neck. Same when washing with a hose. Air, water, snow blows up over the window assembly within the door and comes down inside. Doors on both sides are the same. Been contemplating taking the doors off and apart and filling the area with a can of spray foam, but it seems like a design flaw to me. Also, the seat belt is really short. With a coat of any kind, it is nigh to impossible to use, so I end up clipping it behind me. Not a good thing. Ideas or comments? Thanks... Gerry

      You would do ok with a set of the T4 tracks on it but when you reach the limit of what the tracks handle in snow depth things get ugly really fast... and if you drop thru the ice into muskeg it takes a lot of other machines to pull you out... many people buy a set of tracks with a new SxS and end up selling them after the first winter.
      I don’t see Esme riding on a snowmobile very well either... maybe a touring sled with the 2up seat on the back would work?..

      @PuskwaskaOutdoors 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think Ostacruiser had a machine in one of his videos with the 360 tracks out in the mountains now that I think about it... they did ok 👍
      I’ve spent a lot of time and calories in the past getting machines unstuck from the snow and mud, I actually sold my RzR when I started shopping for tracks as the cost added to the purchase price just started to look insane... I bought my Avenger 8x8 with the 18” rubber tracks and a soft cab and still put some money back in my pocket from selling the RzR... but up here the terrain demands an amphibious vehicle otherwise you are very limited to access the back country.
      I’ve got a snowmobile as well but it’s a mountain sled so pulling a skimmer behind it is a risky venture... the tunnels on mountain sled’s like to bend doing that.

    Did you trade in the Argo?

      I didn't trade it in. Still deciding on what to do with it so far.

      The Emporium Outdoors From an outsider’s perspective, I’m a bit disappointed in the Argo’s performance. Yes it can do everything but not particularly well. For example the tracks are “so so” and it does get high centred when off-road .. a generalist of the off-road if you will. I expected to see a tank: slow but unstoppable. I was a bit disappointed that it wasn’t. So I am not surprised by your purchase.
      Having said that, yes it is more capable in some wet situations than a standard buggy ... but then again, I’m not sure I’d go camping during those times either.
      My $0.02... and I think the new beast will serve Esme with the heater as she ages ... and no we don’t care about you ... :)

      Hi Richard, I agree on every point! I think having a jack of all trades was a compromise and as it turned out perhaps too much of a compromise. Still glad I bought it to try - I have the sales brochure in my reading basket for 5 years before buying one. I did my homework and watched a ton of videos but there is nothing like experiencing it for yourself! 😉

    My truck has manual roll up and down windows. Yet you toy has electric power windows.

      Go figure! I'd prefer manual windows - Seems a waste on a UTV 🤨
